I just wanted to introduce myself on the GFT! Last year was my first Roo and I lurked around here for ideas on what to wear. Sun dresses with shorts (I used cut-off leggings) underneath was so comfortable/cool. Hopefully I have some good ideas to contribute to this year's Roo.

those of you who live in nashville need to hit up Hair World on gallatin road near east high school. they have TONS of pretty neat colorful headbands including the soft ones that dont hurt you head. they have tons of press on tatoos and fun junk jewelry. they also carry glitter and wild colored makeup such as blue nail polish and glittery eye shadow. they carry an array of bags and clutches plus scarves and headscarves. they have fun bracelets for like a buck!
they also sell clothing and hats and shoes but i dont think most of it is bonnaroo type stuff.
its a huge store that carries all kinds of hairstuff that you cant find anywhere. it makes sallys look like a yard sale. you can get the clip in hair extensions and wild hair colors(tempand permanent) they also carry regular nice wigs and fun party wigs.
There's this store where I live called Discovery. I'm not sure if it's just a couple stores around where I live or if there's more stores in other locations. But, they just got some cute summer dresses in for like 7 bucks! The only bad thing though, is they don't have any dressing rooms and there clothes run kind of small.
^^I actually found a hat at Superjam in '08 that saved my life (or at least my face) during that extremely hot Sunday. It was great! It was a wide brimmed hat that has since become my party hat! I'll definitely be bringing it back to the farm this summer.

i just realized i'm wearing my favorite straw hat in my avatar pic
i found it to be the PERFECT roo/summer hat, despite it being straw it folds and travels very well. and it's the perfect sized brim. covers the face/ears/head without being too big and flopping all over the place (that's what she said?)
i recently bought two wide brimmed hats.one is a winter one and its suede.its grey pathwork - almost a solid color. the other one is a cobalt blue summer one. they are both jessica simpson. i goggled to get the best price. i got GREAT deals on both. if you cant find any let me know. and i know what you guys are thinking.....but jessica has some great hats and shoes.
i actually did better than this on the prices. i got the cobalt summer hat for about 14 bucks and i got the grey suede patchwork one for about 21 i think. there was a huge site that had TONS of hats but i cant find it...im still working on it.
one thing i really like about the jessica simpson cobalt summer hat is that it packs flat. that way if i sit on it or crush it....it wont hurt it. im not sure if the other one packs flat or not.
i get used to the big ones. you can pin it back a little bit right by the head. it looks weird if you pin it at the end of the brim. you can take a long pin and put it through so that it just barely lifts the brim on one side. this will keep it from moving or falling down too far. im not sure if that makes sense or not. i think the heavier ones (felt or suede) would be harder to get used to than the straw.
belltwala, we need to meet up and do some Roo shopping! I live just a few miles from that Hair World, down Gallatin road near the Southern Thrift (another great store for fun finds). As much as I like my bandanas, I'd like to check out the headband possibilities. Do they have any like the etsy shop that clairity mentioned?
j.i think i met you at the brunch year before last... we need to shop. we could meet at ST? also...have you tried the new thrift store down by aldi? its good too.
as for the head bands....they seem to buy as they come. its unpredictable. i have some velour animal prints ones, sparkly ones. some are woven and some are made of tiny wooden beads. igot some that had velcro closure under the hair. this is very comfortable and doesnt poof your hair in back. i have two cute hippie ones that have little flowers painted on them. you just sorta never know. you might want to check there a couple of times. im sure they will get some as they seem very advanced in the area of hair stuff.
also.....i got this thing there...OMG. its like a shower hose and you put it on the nozzle at the washup areas and you can wash your hair with it. its long enough youcan wash your feet and everything. it REALLY helps. i was the envy of everyone. i think it was 1.59. it is also good for washing the dog. you can fit it onto the inner tub nozzle and you have a shower attachment down at dog level. it prevents splash and it really gets the soap out of thick coats.
they have some headbands like the ones on etsy but i think they are different material. they look more nylon but they may get more in. they get a lot of ethnic stuff so id bet that they can get them. i have some tams and other hats made out of that material that i got there.

I read about someone else here using one of those nozzles also.
Where did you get it? I need one badly because one of the girls who comes with me has very long thick hair, and washing it in the troughs was not easy, even with 2 of us......
i just went up to hairworld. they have that shape of headband but in a nylon. they are 1.59. ill keep checking. they also have the hoses for the water stations. if you know anyone needed a bumpit, they have them in packs of three sizes for 2.79. they are like 10 everywhere else. they have TONS of cool colorful boots (orange tri colored) on sale too.
I say belltwala, dreamingtree, and myself coordinate a Roo shopping trip to the Hair world beauty supply! Though it will probably have to wait until I have some money

I'm in! Although I don't really need any hair stuff. i just put my hair in pigtails/braids and wear a floppy hat if i need shade. My husband will tell you I do not need anything else for Roo because I have tons of sun-dresses
they have a ton of other stuff there too. they have the BEST makeup and nail polish. most of it is a buck!
Oh well I love anything for a buck!! ;D I have 2 other friends who might love a Roo shopping trip also. Are you on Facebook? If so, will you PM me your information and maybe we can all get together. Of course my buddy Druid, you are invited also!
