I'd be pretty happy with a scaled back festival at the lake instead of another city thing but those prices would make it a pretty bitter pill to swallow unless you had presale. Not sure how well that would go over with everyone. Guess I'll go back to being hopeful until something more official comes out.
A sad, mournful Friday for us here...Godspeed to Phil & Co. Maybe they can reimagine something else on a smaller scale for us to enjoy down the road, going to back to the fest's original roots.
I really wonder if Phil just got too stuck in his shit and didnt think to just come back on a reduced event. Nobody wouldve blamed em. You create some good will and move foreward. Like nobody wouldve complained if they got to camp over the weekend and had a couple nights of music.
Sucks I only went one year but it was a lot of fun and I am just glad it happened at least. The worst thing was when I pitched it to the outlet I covered it for I said "this might be the last hurrah. Dont you wanna be there for the death rattle?". And here we are 2 years later. 😭

Would love to hear if anyone who rolled over from last year has any luck getting a refund. I am not too hopeful since Dice is showing that I paid $0 for my two tickets.
Let's see...First time we went was 2014, second year they had it in Mecca. Was such a magical day and night of music, discovered a ton of new bands, and loved the super chill DIY aspect of it all. And from that point on, the only year we missed was 2019. My wife gets credit for us even going since she was a big Deap Vally fan, and we were stoked they were playing just down the road from us at a desert fest.
As we dubbed ourselves, the Shitshow Concert Crew, my wife, sister, and some of my best friends always had the best of times at Daze - and seeing bands we fell in love with there at other shows throughout SoCal over the years. This reality sucks, but nothing lasts forever. Maybe with some time and luck, a new iteration of this fest on a smaller scale can come back at a new spot. Just give me that 1 day/night magic again.

I sent an email asking about those of us that used vouchers and I'll report back when I hear something.
mannn now I'm bummed I didn't pounce on FORM Arcosanti when I got off that waitlist.
Form proved that you can have an intimate fest and a good lineup with corpo backing that doesnt get in the way. And the fans have zero reason not to trust the organizers.
Theres nobody here that wouldnt be ok with them partnering with Goldenvoice to have made this work.
Such a bummer but expected at this point. The 2017 fest, the last one at Joshua Tree, was our first one. We snagged an onsite bungalow and even though I had mono that weekend, it was one of my all-time favorite festival experiences. Watching Spiritualized sound check before the gates opened was magical. We went back in 2018, 2019 and 2022 and had a mix of great (the performances) and frustrating (camping in the rain, struggling to get an Uber/Lyft out) times at those. I'm sad to see it go and while it would be great if Phil can bring back some of that magic in some way, I'm not holding my breath.
Is it too soon to start hoping some of this year's DD acts get booked for shows in San Diego?
So sorry to everyone that made plans, bought tickets, and did all the things. It sucks. If you’re still planning on being in LA around that time (or you live there), go see Tropical Fuck Storm.
