definitely haven't been enjoying some of the posts and comments I've seen the last few days. Feels a little too familiar.
Can't deny the sales are really soft with all these discounts and bundles still failing to move a bunch of passes.
Well that one post got deleted that surfaced earlier. So whats happening. Are the mods taking it down cause Phil is trying to stop the bleeding or its all bullshit and somebody just wants to keep freaking people out.
I have no clue besides that it's still happening. I haven't gotten the phone call saying anything different. I still have meetings on planning out stuff out.I would think and hope they would just drop Cigarettes after Sex and some of the other bands deemed not to be selling the festival well aka cut the fat before they would cancel the festival. Shoot, cut the tent stage out , I would rejoin Mad Alchemy on the Block Stage for a weekend for Phil/Desert Daze.
This festival needs to move beyond Gizz and Tame. They can't rely on those bookings every year, the festival should be able to stand on its own.
Gizz sells tickets. Cigarettes After Sex does not. Not about could have/should have.
Cigarettes After Sex have 2 sold out arena shows in LA literally during Desert Daze, plus a sold out San Diego arena show a few days before. They can obviously sell tickets in SoCal but I don’t get why this festival booked them.

It's over-saturation of the SoCal region, even for a now-popular act like CAS. I'm safely assuming they were gonna have Queens be a headliner, and then Josh's health went to shit. And Daze probably knew there was a high risk of QOTSA canceling their remaining 2024 dates, which is exactly what ended up happening the other day.
So yeah, some more bad luck here and there for Daze. I would've loved to have gone for at least 1 day this year, but I just don't think it's in the cards for me (with baby at home, the freedom & flexibility isn't there). Plus, the lineup isn't a must-see, as sad as it is for me to type that.
DD should partner with King Gizz and straight up do a Gizzfest. It’d be massively popular and help DD financially. Nothing wrong with having a 3 night King Gizz festival at Lake Perris.

I think Jack White replaced QOTSA, since that’s what happened for all the other QOTSA festival dates. Seems like a pretty even replacement in their draw.
Have they had a Gizzfest in the U.S.? I kinda thought that was just an AUS thing.
Either way, they're playing a 10k capacity venue in San Diego in November and it hasn't sold out. Not sure they would sell out three nights at DD as much as some posters would love it if they did.
The Scientology theory is hilarious cause they wouldve had to catch wind that TMV was booked and just had to push agents to fuck with Phil for as long as they could and make him lose time.

It hasn't sold out? I was checking the other day and it looked like there were no tickets available through Ticketmaster...Am I missing something gaze?

I mean its GA so how can you judge that. The La show is nowhere close to sold out if you want a better gauge. Shouldve played a park instead. The Bowl was a perfect storm cause it was cheap and outside and 3 hours. This, not so much.

I checked this afternoon and TM had tickets at regular price.

To be fair that night is an acoustic set so some people might be turned off by that.

What!?
Cedric was a Scientologist for a few years then realized it was a load of shit. They killed his dog and then his wife was a victim of Danny Masterson and she testified at his trial which of course Danny got convicted. So yeah, they will do whatever they can to ruin your life if you leave their church and talk shit about them. Theres a big Scientology compound right down the street from Lake Perris so ya know, would sorta make sense these assholes would try to destroy a music festival that is supposed to have him there. But yeah, this is the level of craziness we are with people trying to scare others into thinking its getting cancelled.
All signs are definitely pointing to this thing being cancelled. What a bummer.
If the people are hellbent on it then they should just put all their stuff up. None of them will get behind saying its 10000% cancelled cause if something changed and allowed it to happen they dont wanna throw anyone under the bus for essentially lying.

I've seen enough circumstantial evidence. Hopefully they just scale things back like 2021 but I think it's too late for that now.

Its still possible to scale it back but something has to give. It probably shouldve been 2 days and it mightve done better cause of the price point. Like let people camp from Thursday on and Friday has workshops and talks until the evening and you have one stage go with music. Sat and Sun are full regular days and its at least a functional event. Nobody was ever going to be upset if it wasnt stacked to the gills and such
It's a real shame if it's cancelled. I had so much fun at that fest the years we went, would've loved to see it be successful.
SAME here, x1,000. This was the first music festival that I truly fell in love with, and that was back when it was super small and in Mecca @ the Sunset Ranch.
Like I've said before, the peak years for me were 2016 & 2017 when it was up in Joshua Tree. That shit was magical. Perfect scenery, vibe, lineups, etc.
I had some downtime today so I caught up on all the posts and updates on Reddit. What a fucking downer...But all good things must come to an end, it's just sad if it goes all down like this.

if it is the end I'm so glad that I was able to send it in 2022. Had been eyeing the fest since seeing that insane 2018 lineup. Actually had an interview with a guy who does marketing for DD in early 2020. He had told me back then that he didn't know how long the fest would last with Phil getting older and having a family. Big bummer to have it end on other terms
