This year was perfectly crowded. Way more people than 2016. But rarely felt like a complete clusterfuck. Thursday was light but I also went to all of 3 shows the whole day. This one is just under 2023 but not by a whole lot considering the lineup discrepancy for most. You really can have an amazing time if there's 2-3 amazing shows you must absolutely see and a bunch of other awesome stuff to take in throughout the weekend. Especially at Bonnaroo. As always, the vibes were immaculate.

Look, nothing against those who got sick or caught a bug, but that just wouldn’t happen to me. Idk if it’s because I’m built different or just have a stronger mentality but I just would not let that happen. Think those who got sick need to do some self reflection and try to model themselves after me a bit more.

Top 5:
1) Front Row Thursday Pretty Lights (2nd Set) 2) Parcels 3) Khruangbin Pit 4) Cage the Elephant 5) The 45 minutes of Four Tet I got (including his cool NIN March of the Pigs remix that opened the show)
Runner ups: Yves Tumor, Chappelle Roan (though it was hot af and I was far away), T-Pain (i guess, should have gone to Thundercat), and RHCP was totally fine.
I left during the weather delay because I was dead. But I'm sure everything after was fantastic. My show count isn't very high this year but I had a pretty fucking amazing time

just one set each per question don't go listing everything you saw.
1. meg put on a great show, super high energy and her mic was ON. the music cut out a few times and she carried the song all the way through. being able to dance and rap like that in the heat is wild in itself.
2. peps- rhcp set list was disappointing, i wish they would’ve just played their classics instead of 5 new songs, they sounded good tho. i understand why everyone didn’t want to see them again lmao i’ve checked them off of my list now

Idk, not a huge peppas fan but yall still got Soul to Squeeze, Under the Bridge, By the Way, Californication, Give it Away, Can't Stop, Snow, and Zephyr. 5 new ones doesn't seem that terrible out of a 15 song setlist, especially since their new albums are better than anything they've put out since By The Way. Did yall really need to hear Scar Tissue and Dani California that bad?

Maybe posted elsewhere already but overall, after 1 day back, how would you rate this roo to the other post pandemic roos, and to other roos you've been to pre-pandemic? Also ballpark what was the estimated attendance this year?
Recency bias has to be playing a role here but this was just a really fun Roo. Low stress. Did the right amount of drugs. Good music but no one I had to beat myself up over seeing or missing. Running into people everywhere. It was my 4th Roo and my crew and I really know what we're doing at this point. Even though the heat was truly atrocious, the vibes were very good. I even heard people singing 'Just a Friend' a lot, which I didn't the last two years.
way more than '22 just a bit less than '23 attendance wise

Me and My Friends was a nice surprise too.
Uh, yeah, I wish they'd just played Blood Sugar Sex Magik front to back but I can't really complain. I didn't love or hate, they did the job.
Soul to Squeeze was sick, my favorite moment for sure.

Are the streams still up on Hulu? I'm having trouble logging in to my Hulu. If they're still up, I'll try to figure out the issue today. Otherwise, I'm not too pressed.
Did you know you have to log in to access Hulu support regarding your login issues?
Upcoming Shows: 11/8 - Goose @ The Andrew J. Brady Center 11/13 - Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros w/ The Wolfpack & The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall 2/14 - Alan Walker @ The Fillmore Detroit 4/15 - Ben Folds w/ The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall

I heard them soundcheck soul to squeeze and suck my kiss Saturday morning, so I was expecting both at some point, glad they skipped suck my kiss.
I haven't seen them since their 2012 headliner set and while I wasn't super excited about them being there this year, I thought it was fine. Watching flea and FRusciante jamming together was good.
Say She She was much better than expected and I wish I'd seen more but I stayed til the end of Eggy
CRJ was good, but the rain delay kinda sucked the momentum out I think so overall wasn't as good as it could have been.
Overall this roo probably ranks near the bottom, but not because I had a bad time or anything. There was a lack of artists I was truly pumped for, and while I really do enjoy checking out new stuff, when a big chunk of two afternoons is just kinda vibing around the farm it's hard to reach to the same sorta highs I've had previously.
But maybe this is me really hitting the "I'm old and jaded" part of my bonnaroo life. With 17 in the books and a lot of the novelty worn off, I found myself more often thinking "oh yeah this fine" instead of "oh fuck yeah!".
Have no idea who Infinity Song is but found this gem;
"Through family friend Jon Batiste, the band also became connected with Kanye West, and "made substantial contributions to West's gospel-tinged Jesus Is King album", for which they participated in several capacities including writing and producing songs and participating in West's Sunday Service Choir."

Comparable in fun maybe a little lighter on stuff I was jacked up for. Estimated attendance would be 70k+ and was busiest Saturday. Possibly was a little lighter than 2019 but much more crowded except daytime and obscure shows than 2022.

1. Idles - thought they were Inforoo overrated last time I saw them. They aren’t making my top 10, but I’m glad I went over there.
2. badbadnotgood - not their fault because they were great. But the packedness and heat/Sun circumstances left my ass listening from the shade of the perimeter instead of engaged with what the band was doing.

1. I was dreading having to sit through Diplo to get to PL sunrise but he was actually pretty good. Not a top 5 for me but I was def surprised
2. Yves Tumor lacked energy a little bit? I kinda thought theyd rock out a bit more. I think if yves was actually playing the guitar it woulda been cooler.

1. Boot Scootin’ Boogie Nights - Great may be a strong word, but I had no intentions of checking them out. I wandered by the stage and they were playing some ‘90s country hits that I didn’t realize I needed at the time and likely won’t need again. It just hit right at the moment.
2. Greensky Bluegrass - Don’t get me wrong. They were excellent. I just had my hopes up for some special guests that didn’t come to fruition.
Everything else was just as good or bad (GWAR) as I expected it to be.

Didnt beat 2023 for me but def beat 2022. Id rank em:
2018 > 2019 > 2023 > 2024 > 2022.
It was a good year, p much everyone I saw was great but the heat, piss poor scheduling and the late night lineups just didnt do much for me. It was nice to see some of that classic Roo energy come alive at certain sets like Parcels and Jon Batiste but I think some changes to the scheduling coulda made this year soo much better. Sunday having basically 4 of my top 5 most anticipated acts of the weekend was a major buzzkill, and there were a lot of periods in the schedule where I wanted to see all 3 of the bands that were playing and also plenty of slots where I legit didnt want to listen to any of them. I felt like 2023 did a much better job at sequencing, but maybe thats just me.
Look, nothing against those who got sick or caught a bug, but that just wouldn’t happen to me. Idk if it’s because I’m built different or just have a stronger mentality but I just would not let that happen. I tried to be more like you and now I'm not sick at all. Best I've felt after bonnaroo ever and I went just as hard as always. Highly recommend modeling your lives off of this guy Tranter. He's really got it going on
I'm back to work for a day before Juneteenth tomorrow, so I'll get through it. Sometimes living that alternative life as a heathen is preferable to the real world and its responsibilities. Sometimes it's great that I'm only responsible for finding my way back to camp. Biggest knock on Bonnaroo is that they still can't get hand sanitizers and washing stations right. They have plenty of the dispensers in the port o johns and then there are stations outside of most restroom areas. But the majority of those were empty going back to Wednesday. They have thousands of people volunteering. Is it asking too much to just have like 3 people on site that can go from place to place on a golf cart and fill those up? People got stomach bugs (including a couple of our friends who were knocked flat from Saturday afternoon until later Sunday), and when you are unable to wash your hands after coming into contact with things other people who don't give a fuck have touched, germs spread. Also due to the heat, the smell of the farm this year was pretty bad if you were ever downwind of a bathroom area. Servicing those with some extra blue shit or lemony freshness once or twice a day can't be that hard. There were some clean ones here and there and in the campgrounds but they were a minority.
Then there's the problem with the sunrise sets and lack of available bars. You either have to smuggle in booze for that, get a bunch of shit that's going to be hot and flat by 3:30 (since the bars close at 2) or do without. I had a 16 oz can of water and 16 oz can of beer when I went to The Other for the last hour of Diplo then the 2+ of Pretty Lights. We're dancing. We're headbanging. We need water and booze to fuel that. They did give out some grammar school milk cartons of water during some of the sets, so that was helpful. But it's not like you can just go up to somewhere and buy something to drink. Your only hope is to go by a food vendor that also sells cokes sprites or bottled water or find a coffee place somewhere. Alcohol laws and rules are fucking stupid. It's only alcohol.
Festival seemed its most packed on Saturday but there were some shows with crowds every day - particularly the later in the day it got - as people who were at their camps recovering or waiting until the last minute to go in to fight the heat could get there. It wasn't ever too bad except moving out of main after Cage was tight and then trying to get up the right side to Pit for Megan was packed too. Great running into everyone, and for everyone else I didn't see, maybe next year. I didn't really like the direction of the lineup this year and maintain I would not have gone had PL not been there. But showing up paid off for me with a lot of good music to go along with the 50 or so people I ran into there that I know. It was a good time that I never really let get all that out of hand except maybe by Fred. Again.
Top 10
1. Pretty Lights (Thursday) - This was a fucking bomb ass show. What Makes a Motherfucker So Damn Fresh (Still Night I think it's called), Summer Love, Hot Like Sauce, PL vs. Willie vs. Pink Floyd, Radiohead/NIN mash, Tricky, More Important than Michael Jordan, Jolene Swirl (Dolly tribute), Finally Moving, etc. This was fucking great and one of the all time headliner shows I've seen at Bonnaroo. It was definitely the loudest I've ever heard on What. Perfect opening night headlining set that they ought to give to him ever year for Thursday since it fit the mood.
2. Key Glock - This was the rap set I was looking for this weekend.
3. JRAD - This is the jam set I was looking for this weekend. It wasn't all my favorite Dead shit, and I've heard Truckin' and Shakedown Street a million times. But the sound and the playing was top notch.
4. Pretty Lights (Sunrise) - Again I will reiterate that this was way more a PL Fan set to see than someone who went there not knowing much of it or Derek's musical history. It was freaky, weird and perfect for someone to take a risk at a sunrise set. While I'm sure it seemed out there to some people (even Teddy said he was lost after 30 minutes), the crowd past sunrise was still pretty massive for 5:30am. High School Art Class, Sun Spreads in Our Minds, Blue Skies Both Ways (nothing but Blue Skies) hit.
5. Greensky Bluegrass - This was great from the minute I got there. Time/Breathe was incredible as it should be.
6. GWAR - This is for the show more than the music itself. I have already seen GWAR multiple times, so I know that the music while good heavy and loud isn't necessarily the best thing at a GWAR show. It's the battling and maiming that makes it so fun. From the first victim (the random "bonnaroo kid") through the radio DJ to Bibi and Putin and finally the giant green alien, motherfuckers needed to die. And they did.
7. Jon Batiste - Just overall a solid show from someone emotionally invested in unity and love. The show continued to get better as it went along. So if you left after a few songs, you probably didn't get the best of what that show was.
8. The Mars Volta - I couldn't tell you a single song by them, but the show and the sound was great and had me entertained throughout.
9. Mdou Moctar - I was at this near many of our fellow Inforoo people. Show was good, sound was good, and the crowd was entertained.
T. Megan Thee Stallion - Megan was great. WAP got some time in there, and the show was pretty damn vulgar overall. She had total command of the show, and I don't think I've ever seen her looking better. I don't know if she's working out heavily or if she's taking shots or whatever, but she really looked fit. So good for her.
HM - Brittany Howard (great show), Joey Bada$$ (may be underrating this some but there's only 10 spots available), Parcels, Khruangbin
There's a fairly good chance that I'll go again. I have a couple more days of credit card charges, but between travelling eating and inside the festival, I'm up to about $2k so far. That's the thing about cashless. You mostly look at the tip buttons and ignore the charges because you're not counting as closely as most people would with actual dollars. Lineup will key in returning. I would not have gone this year had PL not been on the lineup. So they're going to have to show me a lineup I want to see for what it costs to do properly.
