Some thoughts:
good: • the amount of free water passed at shows and in the campgrounds was a great move • wait times getting into the campgrounds have made a massive improvement every year since 2019. I haven’t waited more than 30 minutes since getting off the highway to getting in. • $5 mystery beer tent was a huge hit. They were giving tall boys, white claws, 9% canned cocktails etc. I thought it was a joke when I first heard it.
bad: • the Friday and Saturday lineups • the Which stage sound still sucks. It’s honestly baffling how bad it is year after year • the pit line needs to be on the left side. We pitted for da Peppas and we were getting surrounded by Cage fans. Not their fault, we’re in the way but I have no clue why they can’t just do this on the other side of the field. • there were way too many infants / babies this year. They’ve gotta stop allowing this

Actually thought the Which sound was a lot better than previous years. Gary Clark, Brittany Howard and Chappell Roan all sounded amazing and for all 3 shows I was watching from a different angle.
What made you say the sound was bad? What surprised me most was the fireworks for Melanie Martinez. So unexpected and have never seen fireworks anywhere else than What.

We saw a couple of families that were say on the edge of what or this who were artist family. That’s not everyone but it doesn’t bother me. It’s not a super kid friendly environment but there is goodwill that goes with being able to have it all ages.

I agree about the Which sound. It still sucks if you’re far at the back on the left side but I met my friends at one of those sponsored booth/building things at the back on the right during Melanie, pretty far back, and I could hear her pretty well. I was surprised that I could hear her and that her performance actually looked really cool. Her music isn’t really my cup of tea but I loved what I saw happening on the stage.

IMO we should have more babies at Bonnaroo. Show them the real world, toughen em up. Kids these days are a bunch of softies. Life ain't just a walk in the pit you know what I'm saying? Sometimes you gotta wait in line in the sun, or grease the palm of the ole pit security. Money makes the world go round, it's not fair and babies need to learn that.
Finally got home and drinking some coffee after catching the first and last legs of the drive. My daughter wanted one more hot chicken meal so we stopped at Hattie B’s. It’s time to get back to eating better and drinking green tea. I was thinking about my top 10 which is going to be kind of odd because of what I didn’t see long enough to count but there are more than 10 worthy of mention.
Sunday
Irreversible Entanglements - free jazz collective of which 4 members did this show which was drums, sax, bass and then the lady that sings and does the prose. Me and Todd looked it up waiting for the shows which I think I remember they formed in Brooklyn in 2015 as a reaction to the police gunning someone down and their brutality. All 3 musicians were very talented. Good show and got to run into King T before he had to leave.
Yves Tumor - Entertaining show. It was pretty rocked up. It wasn’t super technical (did have some moments) but it sounded good. I’ve seen them a couple x but I don’t otherwise listen to or follow Yves. This band/incarnation had some early 80’s new wave parts along with the glam-ish style of what they’re doing. First when I got there Jaz and Manders saw me and called me over which ruled. Jaz was happy at that show and pretty much everyone else too. I think I ran into manders more than anyone this weekend which is not bad at all as anyone who knows that motherfucker will tell you.
I don’t remember exactly how the weather delay had me walking past back of Which, while she was on but we heard about 5 minutes of Chappell Roan which I wasn’t going to. But it actually sounded pretty good for what it is. (Later edit to say that was on the way to get chicken we passed by her)
badbadnotgood - that tent was pretty hit when I got there hoping to get a decent spot. Sun came back out and it was hot. So I went to the right side perimeter but that area is lower so I couldn’t see much. They were great as ever and I got to see nasti for a bit there, so that was cool. But circumstances of not being able to see well and how hot it was took a little away from the set. That’s not their fault and it was good to see a crowd turn out for that.
Greensky - I got a late start partying Sunday but the buzz was kicking in even as I was knocking back a black liquid death for every drink I had. I loved this show. I’ve seen them before and have always liked them but this hit at the right time kind of like JRAD did earlier in the festival. I need some jam and grass to go along with the ratchet and jazz at Bonnaroo. Despite the great playing, a big highlight was the Pink Floyd Time/Breathe off Dark Side. So I got to sing a couple songs that I knew in their entirety. Dug the fuck out of this and stayed which got me in trouble. Daughter loves the fuck out of Megan and her posse was doing pit and got in. I wasn’t leaving GSBG so shit happens. But we tried to go over there and get in and all 4 lines for Fred. were past the gate .Turned out you apparently could go tell them you wanted Megan and might have gotten in then hmu she was left side so we that way and couldn’t find her and I got chewed the fuck out for it being Father’s Day and us not being together in the pit for her favorite artist. Legit tried but you know how festival days can go which brings me to
Megan Thee Stallion - Megan kicked ass. I actually wanted the show to be a little louder harder and trappier but I’m not complaining. That show was fun. Who run it? Hot girls.
Joey Bada$$ - like I said leading up to the festival I hadn’t seen him in 9-10 years. Absolutely a fucking pro. Shit was getting pretty hazy at the end but he went way back a couple times. I had a ball at this show. We also caught a way too short bit of Jason & 400 which sounded awesome. I saw him more recently -22 - which is why I prioritized Joey there. I have regrets because I wanted to see most of Isbell not for getting Joey in.
Fred. Again - I don’t know. Haha. I was pretty tanked up and people I was with at that were trying to find some other mfers so I wasn’t able to be as attentive to this as I had hoped to be. It was booming in the background and I do remember thinking a few times that x part sounded really good which beats the fuck out of being bored which so many people warned us about it potentially being sleepy. I’ll find this and watch it through at some point in the next week. Also finally ran into Dan808 on Sunday ad eel. That was important.

We had a 2yo at brunch, so Inforoo is doing it's job

there are people who make it work and do it safely but I saw and heard about a lot of really uncomfortable kids / babies with awful parents. Maybe it’s not Roo’s job and I can get that angle but idk a tragedy isn’t that hard to foresee. I would put the age at like 7 personally.

thats an example of doing it well but theres just so many more bad examples imo

Was at the Corona thing for Maggie, totally inaudible but I could hear Melanie from pod 8. No idea how that works tbh. The angles are weird.

there's a tree between Corona and the stage, they really just need to put a couple delay towers back there and everything would be fine

The wook parents at the PL sunrise show with their baby sleeping in the wagon was fucked up. Legit younger than 3yo and they’re raging while she’s just sleeping in the wagon at 5am:

Anyone get impacted by the nasty stomach bug that was knocking people out? We had two friends have to leave on Saturday, and then our neighbor on Sunday, all of them because of a stomach bug.
Talked to medical on Sunday and I guess they had quite a few people get hit by this.

IDK what it was, but something had hold of me yesterday all day. I was having to stop nearly every hour the whole way home to use the bathroom/vomit. Most miserable drive home from Roo I have ever experienced.
Upcoming Shows: 11/8 - Goose @ The Andrew J. Brady Center 11/13 - Bobby Weir & Wolf Bros w/ The Wolfpack & The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall 2/14 - Alan Walker @ The Fillmore Detroit 4/15 - Ben Folds w/ The Cincinnati Pops Orchestra @ Cincinnati Music Hall
sunday was absolutely incredible energy. i started at chappell and was able to get pretty close for her. we were waiting for meg’s pit during carly when they had to stop the show which worked out bc i ended up in the pit for carly’s last 3 songs when she came back out. meg pit > joey badass > fred was the most fun and exhausting. fred was everything i was hoping for and more, the energy was amazing and i had so many wholesome crowd interactions. sunday alone restored my faith in humanity. t pain, khruangbin, ryan beatty, and a few others all blew away my expectations
i ended up seeing the same exact amount of acts as last year so i need to step my game up for next year. counting down the days til 2025
Maybe posted elsewhere already but overall, after 1 day back, how would you rate this roo to the other post pandemic roos, and to other roos you've been to pre-pandemic? Also ballpark what was the estimated attendance this year?

hey i already asked an open-ended discussion question.
1. whats one set that you weren't expecting to be great that ended up great?
2. whats one set you were expecting to be great that ended up not so great?
just one set each per question don't go listing everything you saw.
the fuckin Superjam, I'm a Chris Carraba hater and also dislike the whole emo nite concept but damn that was way better than anticipated. Guests were all good and very into it, the crowd was singing their hearts out, it was a fuckin' vibe.
Parcels just didn't do anything for me in the two songs I watched which was a shame, I really like a few of their tunes but it just wasn't what I wanted at the moment.
Re: attendance, I'd say north of 22, south of 23, vibes were great imo. I never saw much negativity or thievery like Reddit would have you believe. According to them, gangs of thieves were stealing stuff right off your person.

It's okay, after they answer your questions they can answer mine. People who go to bonnaroo love to talk about bonnaroo so I'm sure it'll be fine.

Whoa, I thought it was something I ate, but maybe I had this too. Didn't poop right for days.
I'm tired y'all, but it was a good year. This is the least hungover/dead I've been after a Roo, maybe ever. More review coming later.
