I was parked up the hill, about where the busses drop off.
Some dumb shit working in the parking lot sent me from a great spot to get off the hill quick and down the long way. So I been sitting here 10 minutes doing nothing, and people behind me already made their way down the hill.
Some bullshit. Should have told the kid to go fuck himself.

With the exception of Joni Jam and Paul Simon, Hozier was the best headliner at Newport since at least Covid.
He’s popular enough people recognize his tunes and many were very into. He’s come up through Newport so even those who only know bands who have played at Newport were into it as well. He obviously reveres the festival and recognized the history. He had just enough guests. And ended the set with multiple singalongs including Newport legends. It was probably the most crowded I’ve seen it at 7:45 at the end of the show.
What was the problem with the set? I left around song 3 and it didn’t sound particularly bad. Just wasn’t exciting enough for me. But I appreciated the homage to Newport’s history.

The songs were sloppy. If it was going well you wouldn’t have left at song 3.

I absolutely appreciate the homage. But the lack of effort to construct the set, was underwhelming.

I had plans to leave after 4-5 songs to catch Gusted after hearing it was Beck but before knowing it was going to be a cover set. I thought Maggie’s Farm was fun.
