Rhiannon just announced a one-off show in Cincinnati the night before Big Ears starts. I saw her obliterate Which Stage at 'Roo back in (15? 16?). Crowd was too small, but she was astounding. Caught her a couple years later with the Cincinnati Symphony and Steep Canyon Rangers doing a selection of songs from the end of World War I. I think she's one of the modern greats and will be thrilled to see her on this lineup.
On an attendance note...Mrs. Paintedhighway and I had our second kid this week! He'll be 7 months by the time Big Ears rolls around and she's really encouraging me to attend. Probably be a decision much closer to March (I bought presale the last couple years), but excited that it's still a possibility.
We have improvements and changes planned for 2024, all intended to ensure that the unique and special character of Big Ears remains healthy and vibrant. There will be no expansion in size, and festival attendance will be capped at last year’s levels, perhaps even slightly lower. Other enhancements and procedures will make your Big Ears experience – from arrival to departure – more seamless and enjoyable than ever.

Agreed. In all fairness, they've done it every year since it came back. I'm hoping we will get a few more but in my head I'm thinking this is a new direction and we may not.
I listend to that Arnold Dreyblatt album last night and was BLOWN away with it. Pen that shit in please, ACE. I need more minimalism in my life.

GENERAL PASS INFO Big Ears offers three 4-day pass options: General Admission, Premier, and Sonic Explorer VIP. All passes offer access to the full weekend’s offerings of over 150 concerts and a variety of talks, panel discussions, films, exhibitions, workshops, and other special events subject to capacity. In addition, a limited quantity of single-day General Admission passes are made available for each day of the festival. Single day passes will go on sale when the daily lineup is announced. There are no paper or digital tickets to Big Ears, only wristbands which must be worn to access performances during the festival weekend. Kinda expecting Sonic Explorer to be $1k next year or the year after.
Lineup pending, I'll be schlepping it back in GA again.
Premier Early Bird was $500 last year so definitely a sizeable jump. Glad they are mailing wristbands this year.
Yeah mine was $550 but I did the Payment Plan which automatically put it on the last tier. So it's more like $100 jump for premiere. It's all a sizeable chunk of change no matter how you look at it.
Though if they end up reducing capacity, I can see why.
I feel like they say this every year about mailing wristbands but then change it a few months before. They have mailed them before though and kinda hope they do it again, honestly. I like parking and hitting the ground running.

It was always a hard sell flying from Arizona, but the drive from Memphis makes it a lot easier. Im laying the ground work with the better half already.

Hence the reason I'm manifesting. It's still a haul from Memphis but a lot more doable than Arizona for sure.
