Not true, mellow headliners are fine. Just put on a good performance. If they booked Adele, it would be an amazing set even if it's mostly slow songs. Because she's an excellent performer with ridiculous vocal prowess.

If No Doubt is the breakout success of this Coachella then that's equally a condemnation of the other 3 headliners.
Oddly, I think No Doubt is the most mass appeal of any of the top four names. The others are all *very* popular, but they either have a large number of haters (Lana, Doja), or just not that much crossover appeal (Tyler). I actually had interest in all three headliners for once, but there just wasn’t that one mass appeal name that Coachella usually has. No Doubt I guess is the closest. These headliners work well for me, but I understand the general lack of interest for the general population

Saying Lana would be a bigger draw than Adele at Coachella might be one of the dumbest takes I’ve seen this weekend and there was some good competition for that title.
I don't think there was anything wrong with the 3 "official" headliners individually, it's just they shouldn't have been booked together in the same year as a trio.

A recent post on the subreddit claiming the Sublime crowd was larger than Lana’s yesterday.
This is far from the truth. Yes, Lana’s crowd dispersed because her set seemed like it ended and then she came out again, but it was massive when it started.
I hate to play the misogyny card but man I wonder what the science is behind the sub’s hate boner towards Lana. I haven’t seen a single post talking about Tyler’s historically weak W1 crowd.

Reddit in general kinda hates women. I mean, communities like that literally gave birth to incels.
But yeah, I’ve noticed they give female artists very little or no chance, especially POC women. Before the performances, Ice Spice and Doja Cat got so much hate for pretty petty reasons.
Any subreddit with more than like 10k members becomes overrun with insufferable suburban losers who hate anything that isn’t to their basic boring taste.

just got home for a quick fri/sat trip for me. after doing weekend 1 since 2014, i finally did w2 and i gotta say it was pretty awesome.
want to thank this forum for recommending orbital - fantastic set.
i mostly lurk on here but really appreciate all the feedback. got to meet kct a few years ago and linked with ENl and her fiance. got to meet a few others, too. really thankful for you all.

Adele has sold out her residency every night and has drawn incredible reviews. I went in skeptical but got lucky and scored great seats. I was blown away. The way she balances her ballads with story telling and intercut with her more upbeat songs comes from a team that understands her strengths and curation. Plus she throws in crowd interactions (t shirt gun!!!!) that shows how naturally funny she is — it’s hard to not find her incredibly charismatic.
After seeing Lana, my friend who saw Adele with me turned to me and said “nobody can ever say Adele can’t headline Coachella ever again”. It’s just night and day in terms of natural talent and charisma.
Plus, you have to be living under a rock to think that a Coachella crowd will not be belting every word to Someone Like You, Set Fire, Rumor Has it, When We Were Young, Rolling In the Deep, etc
yall are right so many Adele American flags in the campgrounds and I would hear her songs in camp every year. Also when I saw her sell out MetLife there weren’t just 30+ yos in crowd. I take it back I owe all you Meltzers a c note

Sonora ADA is a mess this year. No one checking bands so I had to tell a couple people they were in the ADA section so I could have a seat. Then this other lady comes up and I notice she has an ADA band so I offered a suggestion that she tell the people in front of me that don't have ADA bands to let her sit down and then she proceeds to sit in my boyfriend's spot while he was getting drinks... Then she calls the security supervisor over to try and get those seats. Sigh, all this during Gutierrez Bros when I'm trying to vibe out and chill.
