If you leave from the Kinzie Station though you'll miss all that wonderful street meat on the way back to the California stop. Plus the portos that are conveniently locacted half way between on the walk.
There's people selling street food along the way to and from the Kedzie stop as well.
Also shuck stop telling people about the Kedzie stop.
I've heard that they never have the permit this early in advance.
wow that must be stressful for the organization
I think that's par for the course when issuing permits for the parks in Chicago. You apply well in advance but they aren't actually issued until just before the event.
Thinking about making the trip for this. My wife won't be able to make it so would be a solo trip.
Any opinions on Ultra vs. Ultra+? Figure if I'm only paying for one instead of two I can splurge on Ultra. I don't see much of an advantage of Ultra+ vs. Ultra though. Would rather eat festival food than a "cookout" and don't typically go into elevated stands since I want to be close to the stage. Looks like the rest of the amenities are shared.
Thanks for the earlier post on the logistics of the festival. I'll likely stay in the downtown area. I'm assuming the crowds will be similar to going to a game at Wrigley so solo shouldn't be much of a concern, right? One question though. I heard the Loop / West Loop area has gotten a bit rough since Covid due to lack of in-office work and especially on the weekends. Normally would just get a room at the Hyatt Place on Franklin St. just west of Washington/Wells but might do something further east if that's arguably safer. I've stayed at this hotel 2x before Covid so do know the area fairly well.

To address both questions: getting there would be roughly equivalent to Wrigley on a game day, yeah, but going back it’s significant worse unless you leave early.
Also, to be clear, when I say “west loop” I’m referring to the neighborhood west of the river, near the Clinton/Morgan/Ashland stops (which is always bustling on weekends because of the restaurant/nightlife scene); however, I’ve never felt unsafe in the area that hotel’s at, even at night either.

Thanks. There is another Hyatt in the "Fulton Market" (May/Washington) area. Is that the area you're referring to? Looks like it's about a 5 minute walk to Morgan station. I'm sticking with Hyatt mainly due to having a ton of points. I've been to Chicago enough that I don't really care if I make it over to the downtown area really and wouldn't mind finding another spot. *Just read through the post again and seems this would actually be a pretty good spot.
