Does anyone that’s not a MMJ super fan actually want them to play late night? There’s plenty of good late night tent options that day. I don’t really get why a indie/soft rock band would be preferable at 2am. I’d probably catch them for a bit if they play afternoon/sunset on What or dusk on Which, but I highly doubt I would see them late night over Superjam/Marc Rebillet/Goose/JID/Ashnikko/Yaeji/UncleAcid/Remi Wolf
I haven't gotten into MMJ but it's a show I really want to see based on the praise from this board and the little I've listened to. But I honestly don't see a way I can see their full set no matter when they play. Saturday has 5 of my like top 15 favorite artists in the world.
The reason I think they'll get late night is mostly cause I don't see anyone else fitting that LN Which slot.
I’ve been thinking for a while that Tame plays late night What and the Which is empty that night.

Do you want to dance while also thinking about all the ways you've failed as a human?
UPCOMING SHOWS 6/8 and maybe 6/9 - Governors Ball 8/17 - King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard @ Forest Hills 9/4 - Pearl Jam @ MSG 9/7 - Pearl Jam @ Wells Fargo Center 9/11 - St. Vincent @ Brooklyn Paramount 9/19 - Stars @ Music Hall of Williamsburg 9/20 - Khruangbin @ Forest Hills
MMJ had a pair of legendary late night sets in 2006 and 2008, and they’ve been relegated to dusk What sets in the years since. So speaking as someone who wasn’t at Roo in 2006 or 2008, I’d love to experience a sliver of that magic. I’m not expecting anything incredibly life altering, but even given the same amount of time, 12-2 on Which will be a much better show than 5:30-7:30 on What. They’re my top priority on Saturday (and of the whole weekend really) so selfishly I don’t give a shit what they’re scheduled against, I’ll be there.
Edit to say I guess I am a superfan so I didn’t even answer the dang question.

Is anyone aware if any of the artists from Roo that have fall tours are requiring vacc/neg test? From the handful of artists I've kept up with, I haven't seen any requirements. But if there any requiring it, I can't imagine they'd want to play Roo.
Not any from Roo, but going to see Japanese Breakfast tomorrow night at a club in Rochester and they just sent out an email saying both masks and vaxx/negative test proof is required.
Music Hall of Williamsburg in NYC had vaccination requirements too for a Lucy Dacus show last night.
Are we at the point where we are worried that we're less than a month out with no schedule?
It's been out seven weeks in advance the last couple of festivals.
Also, still no ap in the Play Store for Android. Not sure about Apple.
So in 2019 the schedule dropped 9 weeks before, in 2018 it was 7 weeks before, but in both 16 and 17 it was only 5 weeks before. If it comes out this week, it will only be 4 weeks before, which is late but not enough that you should be panicking. As for the app, if it comes, expect it super late. Lolla didn't release their app until last Monday, literally 3 days before the festival. The app is going to be at the very bottom of their priority list.

Soft rock???? That's absurd.
I feel like they are in the same scene as bands like Wilco and Alabama Shakes and I don’t really see people hoping those bands play late night when they’re at Bonnaroo.
It’s probably just that they’re more jammy than I realize and they have a late night history with the festival, like other people have mentioned. I stand by saying I’d rather see them in the daytime but I feel that way about the few jam bands I like. Sounds like daytime chilling on a patio music to me, not 2am party music.

My group has been dwindling over the last few weeks, and it looks like the last one is dipping over COVID concerns. Pretty bummed. Trying to decide if I'm still going to go at this point.

definitely jammier than you’re giving them credit for

And heavier and more psychedelic. I’m just imagining chilling on the patio listening to Dondante or Touch Me I’m Going to Scream
God, I feel like such a douche for writing that lol
I laughed. 🤷♀️
It didn’t feel like an obvious enough of a troll. Like, I *could* have said “Marc Rebillet could do It Still Moves but Jim James couldn’t do Loop Daddy III” or some bullshit

now I'm imagining Jim James doing "Work That Ass For Daddy" so thanks for that

Would there be that much of a difference between an MMJ and Goose LN set?
i'm pro MMJ late night, but Goose will be a better set.

Yeah since it's only Monday I momentarily was really hoping for an announcement on vax requirements. At this point I'd rather see that than the schedule.
i know anecdotal experiences are worth nothing, but i just did four nights of Phish in various sold out outdoor venues across the south and i feel great. i'll let y'all know if i get covid.
you know what i didn't know i missed? the communal experience of the crowd. i saw many many amazing things these past four shows, but the best part of the whole experience was 10,000+ fans singing the lyrics to "Sleeping Monkey" in last night's encore. teary-eyed and smiling just thinking about it.
i know there is a lot of fear right now, and while i think around here that fear is a little too much, i still respect anyone's decision to hold off on returning to live music. but also try and remember how joyful and rejuvenating live music is. mental health is health. i didn't know how much i needed this experience until i experienced it.

Is calling Jacket an “indie soft rock band” not a banable offense?!?!

90% of MMJ fans would have a heart attack if they ever had to listen to something harder than "Steam Engine"

MMJ is every bit of late night worthy. And no their show is not comparable to Wilco or Alabama Shakes
How many people are attending baseball stadiums daily? Are there outbreaks being reported per game? The dodgers have a 56k capacity. Yankees 52K. All the seats are available for purchase for the rest of the season. Any media coverage on that?
Garth Brooks had a full house at Nissan Stadium over the weekend, the only press coverage about it was that it got postponed due to storms.

The thing that’s been hard for me so far is that I find myself having a hard time fully relaxing into it. I love losing myself in that vibe you’re talking about, but I’ve been to two shows this year (Foos at the Garden, vax required, Bright Eyes at Forest Hills, no vax required), and I’ve found I have a really hard time fully relaxing. Like, there’s that trauma voice in the back of my head waving its arms and shouting, “THIS IS WEIRD AND WHAT IF SOMETHING HAPPENS???”
I hope I’ll be able to work through that at Roo, because it really diminished both experiences for me to some degree.

I second PostJack. We did three nights and heading home today I told our group how much more at ease I felt. Nice to be with people again. I knew I missed it but didn’t know to what extent. Gimme that MMJ late night please! Also I’d prefer Tame second , Tame into Mmj is a lot more fun in my books. Maybe we get a schedule Wednesday. I feel they’ve mainly been posting info on Wednesday’s recently.
