Alien Weaponry was like if you turned a Haka into a whole metal band, they have a bright future ahead of them. Great riffs, tons of youthful energy, and it's pretty cool that most of their songs are in Māori.
Dance Gavin Dance was fine. Two lead singers on stage is an awkward vibe, since they're just like taking turns rather than working together for the most part. Post-hardcore is just one of those genres that is so hit or miss, depending on the song, but when they were good, it was quite enjoyable.
Anthrax was way more fun than a band on their 40th anniversary tour has any right to be. Joey still has a great voice and tons of energy, Scott Ian is deservedly the world's most famous rhythm guitarist, the setlist was mostly from Among The Living and had almost no filler. Hopping into the pit during Caught In A Mosh fulfilled a lifelong dream, and their set was probably my unexpected highlight of the day. "Front pit, I'd like to introduce you to back pit, you guys should be friends!"
Jelly Roll was one of the worst acts I've ever seen, in a way that I'm glad I caught a couple songs out of morbid curiosity.
Mastodon fucking ripped. Not a surprise at all. Skipped out of the last two songs so I could make it over to...
Mudvayne! I've been wanting to see them since I was a kid, and it was well worth the wait. Determined is the perfect opener, Dig is the perfect closer, and the setlist was dominated by LD50 material, the right decision. They did the whole face paint, crazy hair, costume changes thing which was pretty sick. Unfortunately the crowd was kinda shitty, lotta talkers and I had to keep moving spots. Damn casuals only wanted to hear Dig. I'm really hoping they do a headlining tour with a longer setlist, in smaller venues, would love to catch a set with more dedicated fans not just camping for Metallica. At the end of the set Chad said "we'll be back, a lot sooner this time!" but I'm not entirely convinced the lead guitarist will be with them. The rest of the band seemed like they were having a blast, but he looked like he didn't wanna be there. Overall I'm really glad I made the trip for that one show, even if it wasn't perfect.
Metallica played pretty much the worst possible setlist but still fucking ruled, because they're Metallica. Hardwired > Horsemen > Sanitarium >> Black Album in reverse >> Damage Inc > Creeping Death. I was honestly surprised at how much I loved that rendition of Nothing Else Matters, probably my personal highlight of the set. Obviously I would've preferred the Friday night setlist, but I still loved what I got, the production was sick and the boys can still perform at an incredibly high level. I'm curious what the original plan for the 2020 DWP shows was, because "29th anniversary" doesn't have the same ring to it.

I've never encountered any obvious douches or assholes at a Deftones or Nine Inch Nails show.
I was referring to what I expected the Rockville crowd to be like, not the respective fanbases of those bands.
But I would love to be told wrong based on experiences from people who attended this past weekend.
with one or two exceptions of talkers during Mudvayne, the crowd was fucking great. Friendly, not pushy, I didn't see a single fight, pretty much everyone threw their trash in cans, etc. Mosh pits were all super supportive of each other, and each one had a couple guys who were basically acting as referees, standing to the side and running in to protect anyone who went down. I didn't hear "let's go Brandon" or anything else shitty the entire time either.

That makes sense. I don't disagree with the premise either - particularly since it was in Daytona. But I'm also glad that Teddy did not have a poor experience with the crowd at large. You'd halfway expect it to be a Rednecks with Paychecks or Country Fest type crowd with the only difference being the genres. Also glad to be wrong.

With the right lineup I would definitely go back, or to any other Danny Wimmer fest. It was exceptionally run, only thing I had to wait in line for more than two minutes was merch. I thought the food line looked really long for Island Noodles, but I was at the front before I knew it. Bathrooms were clean, layout was pretty much perfect, security was on top of everything without being assholes, production was TOP NOTCH. Overall the best festival experience I've ever had besides Bonnaroo.
Danny Hayes from Danny Wimmer Presents says that Epicenter and Sonic Temple likely will not return for 2022 and will more likely be 2023. Small chance for Sonic and will know in next day or two. Working on Bourbon and Beyond return but not sure if it will be 2022 or 2023.

so that leaves what, Rockville, Louder Than Life, Aftershock, and Inkcarceration?

I believe them and the Hometown Rising country fest if that is even still a thing.
03/14 - Thievery Corporation 04/25 - Black Country, New Road 05/04 - In Flames, Gatecreeper 05/10 - Modern Life is War 05/21 - Spite, Bodysnatcher, Thrown 05/29 - Knocked Loose, Loathe, Show me the Body, Speed 06/02 - Bush 06/22 - George Thorogood 06/23 - Dillinger Escape Plan, Deadguy, Candy, Carbomb
Whoever made this poster should be put in jail. Transparent background and that yellow font with the fade effect is the worst thing I've ever seen on a lineup poster.
Still equally terrible.. Although Foo Fighters - Smashing Pumpkins - Jane's Addiction is a legitimately awesome slate of headliners/subheadliners for Sunday.

Damn I was really hoping there would be one day that had like 5 of my favorites, like Sunday of this year, so I had an excuse to go back. That is not the case.
Wild seeing Parkway Drive so low though, they headline in Europe these days

I think it was how the poster was saved. Had that happen before on my phone with an image and the dark backround is reversed.
