Something dropping at 3pm EST today. Probably just the Metallica announcement where they will be headlining all of the DW festivals in 2020. They’ve moved this and Epicenter to racetracks so they’re definitely increasing attendance etc. Someone who is slightly credible has said the lineup(s) will look like this.

That seems like quite the jump for a festival who had Korn and Rob Zombie headline two nights this year. Unless I missed something, AC/DC is done right?

There's rumors of AC/DC touring next year, including with Brian Johnson. But even then, why would they play buttrock festivals instead of NFL stadiums?

Agreed the year before they had Ozzie and Foos who are both big $$ but not Metallica, AC/DC money. I expect it to be bigger with the new attendance and camping space but not substantial. Brian Johnson rumors have been pretty rampant since June. It’s believed they’ll be touring in 2020.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol
Definitely no room for all the names the guy mentioned but I wasn’t expecting it either. NIN or SOAD would be nice for sat but it will end up being Slipknot or something in that realm. Hopefully we still get some AC/DC dates in 2020
“Metallica are taking over a handful of US rock festivals in 2020. The iconic metal act will headline five Danny Wilmer Presents-produced events including Epicenter in Concord, NC; Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, FL; Sonic Temple in Columbus, OH; Louder Than Life in Louisville, KY; and Aftershock in Sacramento, CA.
Not only will Metallica perform at each of the aforementioned events, they’ll play two distinct sets over two nights at each festival. Furthermore, these five appearances will be the only U.S. fests that Metallica play in 2020.”

I honestly dont understand how Wimmer is able to both book such big and expensive talent, and also essentially give away tickets to his events near the date of the fests.
Fuck this announcement. Even if I liked Metallica, 2/3 nights for a festival not run by the band is stupid. Coming out of Louder than Life being the "biggest rock festival in America" this year, they're not going to see the same numbers.

I wouldn't expect the 2020 festivals to be giving out tickets unlike this year.

I’m sure you’ll be able to find tickets for the weekend at $40 or less. That is always how DWP does it. This year Louder Than Life had G&R who is one of the more expensive current headliners and was basically handing out tickets.
You’d be surprised how many people are upset by this in these butt rock groups. The LTL pages are in meltdown.

Easier paycheck for half the effort and theyll likely mix in some arena or small stadium dates into this. They havent played stadiums in the states in a long time, thats everywhere else but here in their current state. If they offered AC/DC slightly less than Metallica to do all 5 fests, why turn that down. And its a super smart move to put them on Saturday cause if the fests sold single day tickets, saturday being the usual highest demand for casual attendees will have a solid headlining option other than metallica.
Well, Saturday mostly sucks. But the other days are great!
That's what stood out to me. Lamb of God would be cool to see. And GWAR is always fun. I am indifferent on The Offspring who I don't like that much but don't completely hate. Disturbed is the worst though. i don't even know how they are even still a band or that they could headline anything?
Ranking the days and the shit I actually know, I'd give it Thursday > Sunday/Friday > Saturday
