Also missing from this statement is this stupid ass comment he made that the "hot dog guy, and I hope you buy vegan but it's your choice" (insert laughter). It is so angering from someone who believes in a vegan/diet aware society have a center running mayor use his veganism to give him clout. I think it's gross... really gross
Is the issue that he said "low skill worker" instead of "unskilled labor"? Because unskilled labor is an actual term for positions that require little to no education or specialized experience. Seems like fake outrage

I'm hypothetically skilled labor. And the idea that we treat cooks and service workers as pawns in the economic system, when health is the issue. Disgusts me

Outrage and disgust are two different things
That's fair. The argument could be made that the term is outdated. And without context of why he was talking about those occupations, I want to go find and read this speech or whatever it is.

It's also gross because they are using private companies to do all the testing and from experience I see it affects the workers so much more to constantly get tested. It sucks.
It is going to be a very very long couple years in NYC. oh boy.
Anyone who calls a cook unskilled needs to burn their hands flipping a pan for hours.
I find all the takes on this quote interesting because Adams' entire voting block essentially were voters without a college degree. maybe those folks will be mad he said this and believes this, but I have a feeling that might not be the case
gocatsnu yup. rough times ahead because, he's building his current stature on... "I'm the cool cutting edge black mayor! Please ignore the years of gentrification I submitted to in Brooklyn - because I'm hip and bike and eat vegan! So I must be a liberal". Which after DiBlasio was enough to win the election without a strong candidate against him.
The old fucks are not going to give up power on their own. We need to stop voting for the same bullshit.
The problem is when the old, establishment fucks with all the power in the party essentially control who we are able to vote for. They don't want more Bernie's and AOC's (in the Dems). I'm happy to see more and more progressive people and people who seem to actually be fighting for the people (Bernie, AOC, Abrams, Ohmar, Porter, Bowman, etc.) more than trying to enrich themselves but I don't see a wave of younger, more helpful/less corrupt folks coming in any time soon. I want to be wrong more than anything.
