Hiss Golden Messenger announced a box set with reissues of their first three albums along with a rarities record called Virgo Fool.
First single from that one:
Out 11/2
As someone who has gotten into Hiss the last year or two and doesn't own any of his albums this is great to hear
I got into him when Lateness of Dancers, his first album on Merge, came out. Been a big fan but never really took the time to dig back into these older records other than the songs he still does live

That's when I started listening too and I'm happy to report all the earlier stuff is awesome. Start with Poor Moon. It's a really great album.

Pretty much exactly how I felt about it. In the beginning you can here a bit of influence from their work with Baaba Maal and echoes of their early acoustic stuff, but the song quickly became much more like their last album. Which I liked, so I don't mind. I'll almost certainly end up liking this one too.

Yea, pretty much. Hopefully the other songs have more of the Johannesburg sound.
Pinegrove plan to release Skylight on September 28, though they will be putting it out themselves. The band was not dropped from Run for Cover, according to label head Jeff Casazza. But according to Hall, there was “some discomfort expressed” from other artists on the label about Skylight’s release, spurring the mutual decision. (Pinegrove plan to work with a different label in the future.) The band will donate all proceeds from Bandcamp sales of Skylight to three charities: the Voting Rights Project, the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, and Musicares, which offers mental health resources to musicians among other services."
Also definitely recommend reading the whole article for anyone interested in what's been going on with that whole situation.
