I saw the Dead Weather did a house party at Alison Mosshart's house for Anthony Bourdain's new show... I'd LOVE for them to make an appearance after that AWESOME 2010 show. I know it's unlikely since Jack is taking some time off from touring, but I'd absolutely settle for the Kills!
I wouldn't be surprised to see The Dead Weather, or even the Raconteurs (or a combination of the two) do some sort of performing in the relatively near future. Could just be a one-off. Not sure if they'd do festivals unless they were touring though, given Jack's dislike of them.
Watching this ACL livestream, there's a lot of acts that would be fun for 2017.
LL Cool J and Z Trip Andrew Bird Miike Snow Lizzo Wild Belle
Miike Snow in 2010 is still one of my favorite 'Roo shows. That was one hell of a Thursday that year!
Missed them at Lolla in 2012 because I was camping for RHCP, and when they revised the schedule I really couldn't see them. Then at Lolla 2016, I was camping for Radiohead the same day. No regrets for either one, Radiohead at Lolla was a dream come true.
I finally saw Sigur Rós this past Friday and all I can think about now is how I need to see them again.
I just can't get into 'em. My ol' roommate and two-time 'Rooer loves this band. He used to absolutely blast one of their albums in our apartment and I just couldn't stand it. Not that it's bad, but when all I can hear in the apartment is a thumpin' kick drum, atmospheric noise, and nonsense lyrics I grew to dislike them. He was supposed to wake us up fer their '08 LN set, but instead was a dick and didn't so I couldn't even give 'em a shot. Were they on the lineup and no conflicts I might give 'em a go, but they wouldn't help sell a ticket to me.

Damn I really don't care for this act. How the hell did they get so big? These dates pretty much lock them in for Roo. No TN date, if this has already been posted my apologies.

If you didn't realize The Lumineers were this big, you've been living under a rock for the last three years. They were billed 10th and closed the Which Stage in 2013. As for 2017, I'm not so sure they're a lock. They just played two sold-out shows at the Ascend Amphitheater in Nashville.

They are playing the Schott here in Columbus and I have no idea how they plan to fill that place up but I've noticed A LOT of people on facebook already putting going to it. Threw me for a loop as well.
I'm also seeing Glass Animals tonight and am EXTREMELY excited about that.

I'm just saying that it's crazy that they're this big. This is some basic folk rock. Aside from "Hey-Ho", and I guess "Ophelia" they haven't had a a hit. That's impressive that they're playing these huge arenas. When I saw them in 2013 at Lolla, they played a side stage and it was packed all the way to the back. Crazy how one song catapults someone. There's so many better folk rock bands from Avett, to Of monsters and Men, Milo Greene, Strumbellas, Head and the Heart(all who have better catalogs). I just know I won't be at their set.

I don't care for the Lumineers either, but all of the bands you listed make basic "indie folk" music these days. The last Avett Brothers and OMAM albums were pretty weak, and I say that as someone who really enjoyed both bands' earlier output.

For that style of mainstream folk....all those acts have better catalogs and more variety on stage. Avett being the most impressive, but yeah their new stuff is pretty bad.

The Lumineers and OM&M are the best acts out of everything you've mentioned. The Avetts might be the worst. But you've got awful opinions in general, so I'll just let you do you, bruh.
I didn't rip your opinion. I just said how I felt about Lumineers vs the other mainstream folk acts. But that's for your input guy

This discussion of mediocre indie folk bands that have saturated the festival circuit over the last 5 years makes me so glad that Fleet Foxes is making music again.

the orwells just dropped a new single off their new album, and its really good IMO. saw them a couple years ago and they are a ton of sloppy fun in small venues, no idea how they are in a fest setting. would love to see them in FIDLAR's spot.

More people need to listen to The Felice Brothers.
Milo Greene's Bonnaroo 2013 Roo set was pretty sweet.
Shamefully, their second album was complete garbage as they tried to go the synth-poppy route, as Givers tried to do with their newest album, and they lost any appeal they previously had.

To counter the folk acts, any new guesses for metal this year? Currently, these seem to be the acts whoring the US tour scene enough to, theoretically, not be lured away by the Euro fests: Between the Buried and Me Devin Townsend Amon Amarth Megadeth Anthrax Cannibal Corpse Cavalera performing "Roots" Ghost
Anthrax and Megadeth would fit the Slayer spot well. Amon Amarth is already booked for a Euro in August but seems determined to build their American following more. Cavalera is the interesting one for me. Closer to Sepultura than the current lineup of Sepultura and doing Roots in full would be an interesting LN tent. Ghost is gonna happen eventually. Can't decide if Devin Townsend would fit Roo or not but, surprisingly, they're co-headlining their current tour with BTBAM so there's a fanbase there somewhere.
