I know that Robin said the new Fleet Foxes album will differ somewhat from their previous work, but I'm not too worried. Robin's a perfectionist, and he's been 3/3 so far (if you include the Sun Giant EP).
I'm fine with a change in sound. Judging from videos of his opening gigs for Joanna Newsom, Robin's voice and songwriting are still stellar.
Just got back from glass animals. Songs off the new album sound great live. The crowd was going nuts and was an ideal festival demographic. Fully expect to see them everywhere in 2017 and potentially higher on bill than people expect. Dudes have a crazy passionate fan base.

What would you guys think about Usher? I havent gotten around to it yet, but his new album is getting some good reviews. If they book The Weeknd too, thatd be a good combo I think.

R. Kelly spot? Or is he too big? Also, assuming that Chance will be there next year, I can't see Roo squeezing all three into the first two lines.

Call me crazy, but I really don't expect Chance to be as fest heavy next year. I think he did a tour that sold out/is selling out like crazy, he's been everywhere popping up, and he even did a fest to highlight that album. I think he will scale back next year, and I'm not expecting him at Roo. Okeechobee for sure, but not Roo. He will spend time with his family, the dude hasn't taken a break since 2013.
This is what I see happening.(Not an insider, but just a hunch)
Frank Ocean won't be at Roo.
Future will be the highest billed hip-hop/rap act.
Schoolboy Q will also have a high billing.
The Weeknd will get that J. Cole slot.
Maxwell will be the big R&B act, and play on the Which.
Chic w/ Nile Rogers will get the Lionel spot, or Earth Wind and Fire slot.

All seems reasonable to me, except The Weeknd in the J. Cole slot. I think he has to be a headliner.

Sure The Weeknd is asking for a lot of money, but did The Weeknd's tour sell out like J Cole? I don't think so. This would also be the first pop headliner at Roo, so I think Roo would spring for a Gaga or Adele as an outright headliner before The Weeknd. But who knows....

gotcha. not sure about ticket sales for The Weeknd or J. Cole, but I've only seen The Weeknd as a headliner on festival lineups, at least recently. Seems like a bad idea for an artist to take a step down from headliner.

Let me get this straight. You expect Maxwell, who has played a grand total of 20 shows in the last 10 years, to play Roo, but you don't expect Chance, who tours and plays festivals every year. Also, The Weeknd is a headliner, and anyone who disagrees is in denial. His last album was huge, and he would draw an enormous crowd.

The Weeknd played bigger venues across the country and most of them did sell out.

This has me extremely excited. I'm seeing them next week. I was curious how some of the new stuff would play out live since they are all kind of different from one another unlike their last album.

Once again, not an insider. I just think that Roo will get some new blood in there. D'Angelo disappeared for 10 years or so, and then played Roo. Had a critically acclaimed album. Maxwell disappeared for 10 years or so, has a critically acclaimed album, and....see where I'm going there. Chance could obviously play Roo, I just don't see it happening if that Top line is expensive as most are predicting, and because I really think he's not going to be festival whoring much in 2017. This is coming from someone who has seen Chance three times in the last 3 years, and enjoys seeing him live lol.

You might be right about him not festival whoring next year (although I doubt it seeing as he only played two major fests this year) but if that's the case, the fact that he's come to Roo as a fan the last two years would suggest that he'd be happy to a one-off and you can bet Bonnaroo would love to be the fest that gets that booking.
You will see the youngest demographic for undercard in Roo's history. Lana, Chance, Bastille, Young the Giant, Flume, Pretty Lights, The 1975, Grouplove, Foals, Glass Animals, Alessia Cara, Future. The first 4-5 lines are going to be super young, with maybe 2-3 old school acts in the mix. Just my prediction.
I still think the youngness was their biggest mistake with the 2016 lineup and I really hope they realize it and correct it. Youngness works on a lineup like Lollapalooza's where they're in the middle of a city of millions and will sell out either way. You need established bands to convince people to travel to Manchester, Tennessee for four days
Looks like a lot of longer-running indie/rock acts will be touring again in 2017 so hopefully they book them
I feel like there's always a chance. They never seem to be off the road for too long, and they haven't played since 2011. Could definitely see them closing the bluegrass tent
Cage the elephant on all the Lolla lineups. Always a fun show.
I think that's the tail end of their tour. I wouldn't be expecting them in the US in 2017. That last album didn't catapult them like most were expecting. They'll probably get back in the studio by late spring or something. Would love to see them again though.

This Roo response about the low attendance gives me pause for those veteran indie acts. It seems like they're OK with the turnout and if that's the case....they'll probably do the same damn thing. Unless I'm completely misinterpreting what they're saying.

This pretty much sums up what happened this year with ticket sales. It's pretty clear how they rebound: Focus more on winning the artist bidding war, not on toilets.

Shaky Knees 2017 vs Bonnaroo 2017....let the bidding war begin.

I saw the Dead Weather did a house party at Alison Mosshart's house for Anthony Bourdain's new show... I'd LOVE for them to make an appearance after that AWESOME 2010 show. I know it's unlikely since Jack is taking some time off from touring, but I'd absolutely settle for the Kills!
