Sort of embarrassed to say that even though I'm local(ish) this is the first time I've been been. Festivals need to have a distinct identity and iiipoints absolutely brings that. Friday was a bit of a soft opening but Saturday was full on.
Walked in for DIIV on Saturday. Saw some of Method Man & Red Man Some of Junior boys Walked around for a bit Then saw Theivory Corproation Then Maya Jane Coles
Couple of observations. Having grown up a raver in the 90s, this festival is amazing. It's a lot of great music and lot of great installations. The crowd is chill. I'm intrigued by 2 things. 1. Lots of people stand around and don't dance. 2. Hitting mixes is the exception and not the rule. If I knew that being a DJ would have been this easy, I would have done it. Great live acts and Maya Jane Coles was a clear expection to the shitty mixes thing.
Should have checked out Leon Vynehall and Ben UFO, they were also on point.
Also, $6 water is infuriating. So greedy and irresponsible.
Totally agree. When I saw that, I was floored, considering the amount of "consumption" charging $6 for water is tantamount to being liable for the outcome. It was like 100% humidity. Also limited free water options. Do the fountains by the indoor bathroom even work?
I hope M83 rules. All three sets I saw streamed this year were very good for a type of music I don't listen to that much of. Their space projection is nice and compliments this tour well. I hope to get to see them if they tour next year.
Also the absurd amount of sage this festival burns is borderline insane. Had some chick with a "CORE" credential come stand smack dab in the middle of the photo pit for Method Man and burn a huge stack right there, with the smoke going right in my face and fucking up my photos.

Lol it's even worse than that. On the first night only one of the water fountains by the bathrooms worked. The next day none of them work... I go in the bathroom and fill a cup with water. The bathroom attendant says I can't do that.
Pathetic money grubbing garbage. Miami heat, inadequate sleep, drugs, hours of dancing.... $6 water lol

I wonder if Vince talked to Earl about the festival. He seemed kinda pissed during his set. He wasn't too happy with the crowd participation either. I can definitely echo that ~50% of the crowd doesn't move.
