Well there go my predictions. I feel real dirty rooting for USC right now.
Guess we will be seeing some Texas fans coming out of the wood works after that game. Glad to see coach Strong get a quality win, his coaching seat just cooled off a bit.

I am instantly a little bit of a fan of any team that beats Notre Dame. I agree that Strong needed that one.

Oh, I was not saying you, I know what UT team you pull for. or pointing at anyone in paticular for that matter. Besides UF, I only wore one other college football hat in my life and that was before Ricky Williams was there. As a Gator, I love coach Strong and I just married into the a Longhorn fan family, so I am more than happy to see this. I might be even more vocal, with my TV next week, during the Texas game and in here.
Look who's in first place again after the first week. The team picked up a big win on the road at night against the SEC. I was shocked that our offense was held down, Auburn's defense looked pretty solid. Also it looked like our playcalling was pretty conservative. Our defense, which was supposed to be the big question mark, played lights out, they were great. That 3 qb system was crazy, never seen anything like that. Dabo made a terrible call at the end that made it scary, but a win is a win. We passed that test, the next real test won't come till Louisville comes to Death Valley.

I've never been more infuriated after a game. We could have beaten you guys. Gus better get his shit together.
On the other hand, holy mother of Yeezus we have a defense!

I mean, I don't think you should be mad. Clemson was in control most of the game. It just got a little scary at the end. It was going to take a miracle Hail Mary to beat us.

I've become accustomed to crazy miracle wins with Auburn and it's not OK that it didn't happen again.
W (1-0) vs BYU* neutral site 41-38 Despite a highly publicized QB battle Anu will start for Arizona and he will play relatively well, his RB core will play even better. The offense will control the ball well and maintain possession for a nearly unheard of under richrod %50 of the game. The defense however will be worse than most people feared. It will be a high scoring affair. It will come down to the final drive with Arizona down late. The nice thing about always playing 2-minute drill offense is when it really matters you already know what you're doing (or the new kicker misses a late field goal making Arizona fans further question the curse of Zendejas). Arizona wins. Fan expectations rise.
I did okay here despite getting the result wrong. Anu took every snap. The running game was the highlight of our offense. And we played very well in the last portions of the game scoring twice in the last 9 minutes to take the lead. I was wrong about the defense being worse than expected, but they were unable to stop BYU at the end and we lost to the BYUs FG.
bacon do you think this is Rich Rod's last year in Tuscon? I think it probably is. He flirted with South Carolina for awhile before passing. People seem to think that Holgorsen getting fired is the biggest lock out there on the coaching market and that time has healed the wounds of Rich Rod's WVU exit...
I think there is very little chance Rich Rod is going anywhere this year. I think the flirtations with South Carolina proved he isn't going to go just anywhere, he needs the right situation and a major step up to leave. And well I don't think he is going to be offered any of those after this season. Best case scenario right now is 6-7 wins.
I do believe when he came here he wasn't planning on staying too long, but I think the longer he stays the more inclined he is to stay. Part of this is his family connections as well (his daughter is a student and cheerleader at the UA and his son will be a scholarship QB next season). I also don't believe he would have gone through the process of cutting ties with his entire Defensive staff at the end of last season had he been looking for an excuse to leave ASAP. It would have been easy to blame their failure that season on injury but he took action (reports are fairly certain that there was no pressure from the AD) and fired people that had been with him since the beginning at WVU and brought in an all new, much younger staff with major West Coast ties.
I'm not saying it's impossible he leaves, but it would take a very good situation to get him to. He is making decent money with the knowledge that the ceiling for his salary is much higher if he performs well. His AD (Greg Byrne one of the more talented, younger, and creative ADs in the game) has his back completely and has negotiated a major donation to the school of aprx 14 million dollars worth of stock in an oil refining company that will go to Rich Rod and Sean Miller if they stay here for a certain length of time.
The 20th ranked recruiting class for 2017 certainly doesn't hurt either. That's unheard of here. We have pretty solidly been in the 40-50s for as long as I've been paying attention
Not only did Charlie Strong need that W vs Notre Dame, but really this town did. UT is our professional franchise. When UT football wins, everyone here is happy, and everything feels "normal". Coach Strong saved his job for sure with that victory. IMO it was his signature win, even more so than the OU game last year, because there were so many questions coming into this season. Another new OC, questions at QB, how good will this defense be. But both QB's were on fire. I'm psyched for this Buechele kid. Maybe they've finally figured out how to use Swoopes effectively. Even though they allowed 47 points, the defense played pretty damn well. I like Jefferson #46 a lot. He's going to be a star. It's a bottom-feeder team this weekend (UTEP at home), but at Cal next weekend. That game will determine a lot, and if we can beat Okla St the week after that, then we go into the OU game undefeated...
Also, the attendance set DKR Stadium's record, something like 102,325 people showed up. Why don't they have more huge bands perform there?? Or even a bowl game???? My dad thinks they could host a Super Bowl.
