I hear ya. People love that Julian Casablanca dude. My co-worker got crazy excited about that EP. So to Strokes fans, I would say that is, and I think he did a SiriusXM take over just recently. He is trying to get that "noteworthy" that you are quoting.
The Strokes haven't done anything very noteworthy in 15 years and they're somehow getting more popular/higher on lineup posters.
The Killers tourdates right now are a handful of festivals and fucking casinos. It's ridiculous. I know the Strokes won't play a festival unless they headline, and I assume the Killers do as well. I wouldn't confuse that with them getting more popular.
Hey I want Muse! I feel they need to redeem themselves hip hop wise and I'm not sure the legend act draws anymore
It doesn't draw when you book Vegas legend acts like Billy Joel or Elton or a jamband and then fill the rest of the lineup with shit. If they got something like Roger Waters or Fleetwood Mac, they'd draw.
What redeeming hip-hop is there for headliners? Pretty much just Jay Z, right? Or Beyoncé of course, if she counts

The real bummer is that now that Prince is gone, there's no single headliner that would get me to buy a ticket. NYCH would be great, but he'd also stick him Sunday night which is always a cool down for me (if I stay at all), rather than "get hype for your favorite headliner."
Well, that's 2/3s of 2011, so I doubt they'd go there. Although 2011 was also the last true sell out year, so who knows.
I only started coming in 2013 so I wasn't sure of previous headliners other than PJ in 2008. I want good headliners and a good undercard! I plan on going till I can't anymore or it becomes not worth my time and money! One of the problems becomes when do you start recycling acts or as in how long do you wait to recycle.
Also they need to redeem themselves hip hop wise. Other than Drake, who I can't stand, how do they do that?

The Strokes dropped a new EP today.
If the time comes that the fuckin' Strokes play as a headliner I am definitely done with this fest. At least my tattoo will remind of of the #vibes and #high_fives from days of yore.

I will keep that in mind next year, when I am booking headliners.

Please do as I fuckin' hate and cannot tolerate their music.

2014 had an amazing lineup. Elton was great. Also I'd be in heaven with a Jay or Beyoncé set. I'd say it's more likely we have a scenario like 2012 or 2013 with some good hip hop on the lineup but not top line. Also there are still some great classic acts able to be booked. For returns the could do Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, or NYCH. Never played classic acts... Fleetwood Mac, Roger Waters, The Cure, The Rolling Stones, Clapton (especially if it was booked as a final show), Aerosmith. We also have the possibility of the Sunday headliner being phish or DMB

I would say that in terms of being a major draw, Clapton, Aerosmith, and unfortunately NYCH don't quite fit the bill.

Agreed. It seems that festival attendees are skewing a lot younger, so I think it's probably only a matter of time before big pop headliners start to supplant legacy acts for top billing on the festival circuit
