Why can't Skrillex be top 3? Would you count Daft Punk as EDM?
whoops forgot about DP. i guess i consider them EDM ive just wired my head to not even think to expect them unless word comes out of an official tour. and skrillex has reached peak popularity, especially with JACK U. he really cant get much bigger than he is right now unless he completely changes his style of music. i just really think that the only type of EDM that will get booked to headline is the type of garbage CH puts out.
To be honest I couldn't think of a good fit at #2 so I went with my favorite band haha. If they put out a well received album before 2017 maybe
I think Beck > Skrillex back to back on what would be good though. We can probably throw Fleet Foxes or Bon Iver in there as one of the subheadliners too.
Also when are we thinking the White Stripes come back? I'm assuming it'll be a few more years since Jack recently toured all the big fests.
they're never getting back together, I don't see Meg having a change of heart.

Deadmau5 just headlined
deadmau5 is a completely different style but i get what you're saying. i just don't see it happening. speaking of mau5, was he any good in 2015? im gonna be seeing him at firefly and idk what to expect

Do you like his music? I thought it was dope but I don't think anyone else here was impressed.
If you guys could have 2 headliners from Roo's past who would they be. I'm not saying it will just a question. Also must be within reason (so no Beastie Boys) edit: you can include acts that hadn't previously headlined but would now. And I'm looking at top 4 as a headliner.

Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Jay-Z
No fair naming 3.
(NYCH is my #1 desired headliner, repeat or otherwise)

ya i like a lot of his early stuff, i just get turned off when i hear about that stuff he did with the couch and just sitting on stage drinking a beer

Yeah he'll play all the hits and probably do that couch fuckery. You should try to get relatively close, his light show was cool but I don't think you could see it well from far away.

And wow, you're like a walking, talking infomercial to turn people away from Pearl Jam and Ohio State, aren't you? Before you started posting here I quite liked Pearl Jam and was indifferent towards OSU, now I find myself wishing that Eddie Vedder falls down a mine shaft or that Columbus is infested with locusts

I thought he was awesome. I think for the people that did all of Kendrick then stayed and moved up close to the rail for Deadmau5 and had to wait an hour for the change over it took a bit of steam out of us though. He did a straight up performance of mostly his stuff so if you don't like his style you wouldn't have liked it (the light show with his new rig was really cool too). I love that song "Seeya" that he played while doing the couch bit so I didn't mind it but that's his typical trolling so I can see why some people would have been very turned off by that.
I'm seeing him at Bunbury here in 2 weeks and am curious if he will use that setup or just do an unplugged DJ set to headline because I don't think their stage is necessarily equipped for that big rig of his but we shall see. He did say he plans to put 2 million into upgrading the Cube and bringing it back out for shows in the somewhat future.

So I'm crazy bored at work and am making a 2017 mock, but my knowledge of hip-hop and electronic stuff is pretty sub-par, and most of what I know is stuff I've learned of from here. What artists would you guys want to see on the farm next year and approximately where do you think they'd be on the lineup?

He'll probably play the exact same set.
I've actually been looking at his most recent sets from festivals he's been playing and he has mixed it up quite a bit shockingly. My guess is after the string of shows last summer the went back in and tinkered with things so that he played different stuff. He's also been eluding to having a new album out really soon so I would imagine he is going to lean heavily on some new material to test out as well as remixes or mashups of old and new stuff.
Part 1 of my "I Shouldn't Even Be at Work" 2017 Mock. Obviously a little too stacked/optimistic. Wasn't sure about some of the billing order, so let me know your thoughts.
Beyoncé • Arcade Fire • Neil Young & Crazy Horse Skrillex • Soundgarden • Lorde • Chance the Rapper • Fleet Foxes The 1975 • Ryan Adams • Sigur Rós • A$AP Rocky • Odesza Grizzly Bear • Sturgill Simpson • James Blake • Schoolboy Q • St. Vincent Esperanza Spalding • Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros

Would odesza come back so soon?
I wasn't sure, I was just kind of using it as a placeholder name. But they've seen a pretty notable uptick in popularity already

I think Arcade Fire, Chance, Fleet Foxes (provided they do festivals next year), Grizzly Bear, Sturgill, and Schoolboy Q (has never played) are pretty good bets for next year. Wouldn't be shocked if Lorde was booked in the same spot as Florence in 2015 and Ellie in 2016. I know Bonnaroo loves Skrillex, but I think Pretty Lights is due for a return. Other than the EDM headliner spot, I have not idea what to expect for electronic acts. In addition to these, I think Portugal. the Man, Young the Giant (hasn't played since 2012) and at least one of Vampire Weeknd, Phoenix, The xx, The Shins, The National, and Modest Mouse are likely as well. Beck and Modest Mouse are well overdue, but Bonnaroo hasn't shown much urgency in bringing either back, so I'm not holding my breath.

I'm working on the 20-40 spots right now (because why not) which is where PTM are. And I was going back and forth between Young the Giant and Local Natives.
I was trying to decide on one of those big indie groups but didn't want to overload on that with Arcade Fire, Fleet Foxes, and Grizzly Bear all pretty high up. Could easily replace Soundgarden with one of them though.
