There needs to be a Diamond Rugs set. It needs to happen.
I doubt there will be anymore Almighty Defenders shows since King Khan & BBQ split. Did anyone catch any of Mark Sultan's solo gigs this year? I should check out the album he put out. Maybe it's up on Spotify.
As an Atlantan I kind of feel bad that I really haven't gotten much into this band. What 1 or 2 albums should I check out?
I think the very best entry point for the Black Lips is their live album (and I normal really dislike live albums) Los Valientes Del Mundo Nuevo. It is a live from Tijuana album that really captures the spirit of the band and it the production qualiy acutally sounds much better than any of their albums up to that point. It also has many of the highlights from Let it Bloom, which I think is their best, most consistent album. Their most recent one, Arabia Mountain, is their most accessible. Since you are a Atl resident, check them out at the newish venue at Terminal West (King's Plow building on the West Side) on May 12. They are one of the funnest bands you will ever see and the local fan base is a super pationate, fun-loving crowd.

I think Good Bad Not Evil is their best album. Arabia Mountain is definitely the most accessible. Let it Bloom is great stuff but is real lo-fi and probably their least accessible, so it might not be a great starting point. All awesome albums either way, can't go wrong.
