We're doing interviews this week via the web conferencing. During one of the interviews today, the applicant mentioned he was out of town at the moment which worked out for him because he didn't have to worry about his dog or children making noise or breaking into the interview. He continued that he was in Manchester, TN which is a small town halfway between Nashville and Chattanooga. Because I'm trying to act professional since I don't know them yet, I politely nod along with everyone else. "Yeah. I think I know where you're talking about."
Side note: Interviews via web conference are just as exhausting as regular ones.
All of my job interviews have been via webconferencing and I've hated every single one of them.
I did a b2b2b Skype interview once and it was awful and during the last one my cat walked behind me on the couch and I was just wide eyed like, that's my cat...
My boss's dog was being cool and taking a nap behind her during one interview. No worries. No issues. Then, a bug landed on the window or a car drove by and the dog lost its damn mind. Thankfully, the applicant was a dog person too.

Interviews are a lot no matter the format and no matter the side of the table. Obviously more stressful for the applicant of course. Overall, I still prefer doing in person interviews because I like watching people. The web conference is closer than I expected though. There is the nice bonus of being able to text my boss under the table mid interview without being obvious. On the other side, technical issues are very frustrating. We've had so many random things pop up. My boss's boss had his mic cut out mid interview yesterday afternoon for no reason. It'd been working fine all day.
I don't feel like looking for the grr thread but I just broke the screen on my MacBook. It's only a year old. I'm so upset with myself.
Was it a random accident or were you being careless? I dropped my phone onto gravel like two days after I got it. Just lost my grip on it getting it out of my pocket. I felt bad but less bad than times when I've throwing it from hand to hand or otherwise playing around and it's hit something.

Virtually all of my wife's web conferences have been interrupted by my 2 year old. At this point her coworkers are planning reenactments of their interactions using their own children for future web conferences.

There's really no other way that trying to do web conferences remotely was going to end with a two year old. We have weekly staff meetings for our office that we hold over the platform, but we have not used the video component at all. A coworker told us up front that he will not be partaking in video regardless unless we force him because his three year old is all over the place since she doesn't have day care. With that, he said his house looks like hell pretty much all the time because he cannot keep up, and his wife is gone because she cannot work from home.
For the interviews, the boss's ten year old has been able to keep herself off camera aside from between interviews when we are taking a break. Her 13 year old doesn't care much for people, so he has not interrupted directly. He did cause her video stream to completely crash yesterday afternoon when he fired up something on the XBox and stole all of her bandwidth. She did take ownership that she had forgot to warn him to stay off it until she was done. Mine generally don't get out of bed until 12 or 1 since time doesn't matter for school anymore really. They're old enough to know to not come in if the door is shut though which is pretty nice.

This apparently crashed an NFL coach's internet during the mock draft that the NFL was holding to prep for tomorrow. Should be interesting to see how that goes off.

Is it just me or does Zoom like to "presume" which play device and mic is being used? I have a studio setup that has multiple inputs and in class Tuesday, just mid-class it switched my output causing immense feedback that I didn't know what was going on because an hour of class had passed. It just switched itself to listening to itself, magically.

It looked like there was a smudge or something in the corner of the screen and I went to wipe it off with my thumb, and apparently applied too much pressure? Idk. The "smudge" almost looked like it could have been the screen detaching on it's own, which is why I was concerned. But kinda a moot point now. Thankfully it only resulted in thin bars on the left and bottom of the screen, so I can still use it just fine, but this was an investment laptop I'm planning on having for several years, so I'll have to get it fixed at some point. Bye-bye stimmy check I suppose. Oh well. I'm bummed but life goes on.

Crust is gross and it wasn't until this year that I realized that I'd been eating it all of my life because I believed my parents' lie that it was good for me. My parents' questionable choices continue to impact the lives of my sister and myself.

HOLD ON A SECOND!
I never said that I liked SNL!
I still watch it on the off chance that something relevant happens but mainly just for Weekend Update. But no, I don't like it.
And I have no intention of acting my age. There is zero upside there.

We use Cisco webex because it's what the company pays for. I've had a similar experience if I have tried to switch outputs during a meeting. You can set priorities by which it connects, but it seems to ignore it sometimes.

Crust is shitty on shitty bread. It's tasty on artisan bread though.

The crust on a nice sourdough boule is one of life's great pleasures

So after having jalapenos and cayenne in the garden for years it was time I took charge and got some hotter stuff this year. I've been around gardens enough to know how much pepper plants yield. Still, I'm very bad at shopping because I got 8 ghost pepper plants and 6 habanero plants. Also, 14 cayennes, 8 hot banana peppers, 3 serranos.
In good conditions, and garden planted, we're looking at having: 200 - 250 banana peppers 240 - 300 habaneros 450- 500 ghost peppers 1000 - 1100 cayenne 900 - 1000 jalapenos
Even with how much we give away and 3 of us making salsa I think I got too much, guys

Oh I'm looking into it. Was tempted last Fall when I had about 5 pounds of jalapenos but I just ended up making candied jalapenos. I actually still have a little of those left. But yeah, if anybody knows a good recipe I'm all ears.
Send some to deto. Also you might consider drying/dehydrating and powdering some for use later. I haven’t ever done it but it shouldn’t take but a couple hours in a low oven. Of course it would take a while to do hundreds of them but you can probably get like 20-25 jalapeños on a tray at a given time. Maybe sell some in a local farmers market or online if you have too much.

Well, we really are just going to be overloaded with the super hot stuff. Plenty of folks will get into the rest of them.
I'm going to dry some out. I also dice alot up and freeze them. Then just throw a bit into whatever I'm cooking for awhile. That can go a long way.
