Send some to deto. Also you might consider drying/dehydrating and powdering some for use later. I haven’t ever done it but it shouldn’t take but a couple hours in a low oven. Of course it would take a while to do hundreds of them but you can probably get like 20-25 jalapeños on a tray at a given time. Maybe sell some in a local farmers market or online if you have too much.
Well, we really are just going to be overloaded with the super hot stuff. Plenty of folks will get into the rest of them.
I'm going to dry some out. I also dice alot up and freeze them. Then just throw a bit into whatever I'm cooking for awhile. That can go a long way.
Word. I didn't have a lot of luck with the haberneros I tried to grow last year. I paid like $3.95 for a bomb looking 4" plant, and it ended up yielding 4. It was a cluttered area that didn't have enough full sun, so it was my bad. We hit like 350+ cherry tomatoes 2 years ago off 2 plants, but this past year they didn't do that great. But it was such a warm winter that one of the plants survived and actually put out about 10 this year so far. But yeah, I can imagine that you don't need much of the really hot ones. We always cook with pepper, but usually tap it off around serrano and cayenne. I like chili de arbol and guajillos a lot, but I never tried to grow them from dried seed. Anyway, if you end up with too much, I'm sure me and a bunch of other mfers would gladly send you some bucks and postage and handling for a jar of whatever.
Someone asked me if they should watch the Wire yesterday. Lol.
i've seen it and love it. was watching it with the finace but now she just falls asleep in season 4 watching. she also falls asleep watching a lot of stuff on the couch but that just puts her out lol. not sure we'll ever finish it together
Maddog said he stopped watching mid-season 3 lol what the absolute fuck

Call me an asshole, but if a student is late on his final project, didn't show up to class and now is whining about getting a zoom call to help him is a not-me problem? I literally do not get paid office hours, nor has this student even gotten a passing grade in the class for non-completion of almost all the assignments. It's Friday. My aunt's online fucking funeral is tomorrow, and I don't even have a fucking contract from this "academy". So frustrating. I don't know how y'all teach, especially under shitty administrations.

If you do dry them out in the oven be sure you have some really good ventilation going in the house lol. My dad roasts peppers for his hot sauce and forgot to open the windows one time and basically pepper sprayed all of us. Good times!!

Ohh yeah. I hope I remember this. When I made those candied jalapenos my apartment at the time was a death trap for hours. I told LoveLuckLaughter something like " it smells like tear gas and farts." Just awful. But those things are good.
hey all, i'm 14 years sober today. this is my annual reminder to inforoo that if you find drugs and alcohol have made your life unmanageable, recovery is possible, and you can lead a full and happy life without drugs and alcohol. i'm always happy to chat about recovery via PM.
couple days late but i am 15 years sober as of this past Saturday.
the pandemic has had an interesting affect on the recovery community. as many previously in person meetings have moved to zoom, a friend of mine from my early recovery reached out to a bunch of us that got sober together in and around the same time 13-15 years ago. he setup a zoom meeting of our "original" recovery group that got sober in Mobile, AL, and have sinced moved to other cities but are still sober. we have people in the zoom meeting from Mobile, Birmingham, New Orleans, Houston, Maryland, Atlanta, some people I'd stayed in regular contact with, some people i haven't seen in over a decade. it's been wonderful reconnecting and having some absolutely amazing zoom meetings with them.
before the pandemic hit a friend of mine from college moved in across the street. he'd been in new york for the past 15 years or so and just moved home. i'd only seen him one time since then, running into him randomly at madison square garden after a phish show. my wife goes to this one meeting spot just once a year to see her sponsor pick up her chip, and happens to run into him there, find out he's newly sober. shortly thereafter in person meetings stop. i invited him to our zoom meeting with all my old friends. that same week of the meeting we find out an old group member overdosed and died the weekend previously. it was an emotional meeting and the newcomer had an incredible experience and despite the sadness, he loved the hope and fellowship he heard at the meeting. he'll be 90 days clean this week.
so odd that my friend moved in right across the street from me, so odd that my wife ran into him at a meeting, so odd that he gets invited to this zoom meeting with all these wonderful people that mean so much to me and was impacted by their stories. a lot of things had to fall into place to make this strange series of events occur.
i think you all know i'm not a religious person, although i flirt with the practical tenets of buddhism and i practice meditation. i also find comfort in the ritual of live music and music in general and think of it as a sort of personal religion. but i do believe there is a lot we don't understand about how our minds work, and i choose to think of meditation and other practices to better understand ourselves as a spiritual endeavor. i hope you are all doing whatever works for you to take care of your minds and hearts today.
and if you are struggling with addiction, there is hope. i'm always available via PM to discuss. love y'all.
Suggestions for mother/son songs for wedding dance?
Sorry for being too lazy to figure proper thread for this but appreciate input from your experiences.
I don't have a clue. I Googled it out of curiosity and most of the suggestion I saw were absolutely cringe-worthy. \
In my opinion, I'd think of a song with lyrics that would pull at my mom's heartstrings. She's much more traditional than me and that kind of wedding moment just means more to her .... for lack of a better way to put it. So something that speaks to her directly more than something more traditional. But I'm fucking terrible at this stuff. I can't even remember birthdays. Just play Pink Floyd's Mother and get it over with.

Don't know where else to post this, but can anyone recommend some songs that are almost entirely vocal or vocal manipulation? I've found some of my favorite songs fall in this category: 715 CREEKS by Bon Iver, Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap, and Interlude 2 by alt-J. There's an intimacy to isolated vocals that really draws me in, and these all do interesting things either production-wise or harmonically. I'd love to find new favorites. Thanks.

there's a couple of these with different background musics/voice manips. Creeks kind of reminds me of this one.

creeks is so damn good, i love this type of stuff. While not entirely vocal i immediately listened to "i be u" by future. I'm struggling to think of songs that are exclusively vocal manipulation since they're usually contrasted with a trap beat or something. Entirely vocal, you should dive into throat singing, and ingenious techniques like Huun-Huur-Tu, senyawa, Tanya Tagaq. All of them have gotten some mainstream exposure, but there is so much to discover and learn if you like that type of stuff. Going to pow-wows depending on the region is sweet. if you ever end up in se asia, the island of java is an absolute goldmind of vocal techniques and beats.

Have you listened to Bjork's album Medulla? That's pretty much the concept of the whole album but they went wild with the production.

Just started listening to it, thanks! It's one of hers that I don't think I ever got around to listening to.

It's pretty good. Definitely a neat experiment.
Todd Rundgren's album A Cappella is a similar concept but I don't really know much about it. Sounds like a keyboard with manipulated clips of his voice? lol

Check out Holly Herndon. Her album Platform is basically her chopping and mixing vocals she recorded in her closet. She actually has an ASMR track on it.
