That placement of Dispatch makes anyone who ever argued they could headline Roo look foolish. I could never really decide if it was worth reading those posts about it or not.

I know this is only the first wave of the lineup release, but so far consider me underwhelmed as well. The festival is an hour drive for me, I'll be going, but I wouldn't see myself travelling 7-8 hours for this lineup. I am pleasantly surprised SCI gets two sets, and I'm curious how they will handle that (two in a row, or on different days). Also excited for Jack White, Skrillex (beach stage please), Winwood, Co&Ca, Shpongle, Alabama Shakes.
Excited for DMB because it means I can leave early on Sunday. And I guess Zislin was wrong about no repeat bands, because once again we have Michael Fracking Franti. looking forward to being filled with hate as his notes drift down to the far end of the beach where I'm trying to get away.
anyway all year i've been talking up this fest big time. hearing all kinds of things about the huge names they were going to get etc. i was wrong. IMO last years lineup was way better then what we have so far.
I love the lineup, but I am not a fest regular and I haven't seen the majority of these acts.
My condo is already booked and I'm only having to travel 30 minutes from home for this, but the lineup is outstanding, IMO. Maybe not quite as good as last years YET, but they have possibly another dozen or so bands left to announce as well as whatever late night shows they do this time. It can only get better from here!
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
In today's announcement, organizers promised "more room for amenities and the comfort of fans, with capacity capped at last year's limit of 35,000 attendees per day, but with a considerable amount of new space added to the festival grounds."
The festival will feature four stages, according to the announcement, including two main stages on the beach and an air-conditioned dance tent. A children's area will again be featured, with performers to be announced later.
As it did last year, the festival will feature two main beach stages, one smaller outdoor stage, a dance tent and a kids stage. This year's event also will feature a new comedy stage, according to a festival publicist.
Just checked it out, with the exception of Skrillex and Mac Miller it's a real solid lineup, and if it was a camping festival I'd be there, but it's not. But really the incredible jam and rock and then mac miller, I'm not surprised with skrillex, but mac miller? How does that fit with the rest of the lineup? Hey here's a bunch of great jam, great rock, a little electronica, and then something my 15 year old brother listens too..... wtf?
I'm not too excited about the line-up but there is enough for me to enjoy the weekend. I mean how bad can it be. Plus I have tix and have secured a condo.
In my opinion, not enough indie (are there any?) and garage bands (none!).
Praying for a Neil Young and Crazy Horse headliner. Please.
I believe, by my count from the final line up of last year, we are due for another 20 or so bands plus the new addition of comedians. I know the late night Tony Clifton show was a big hit last year so the comedy stage is a good transition towards a more diverse festival. I am also interested in seeing the new festival grounds layout and how they have added more room and amenities. In my view, this is a solid lineup to this point
Btw is it a one stage festi or two? Because my point would be even more valid if it was one haha. Woa, i got some hate fast, do we have some Mac Miller fans in here?

2 main stages.
I don't even know who Mac Miller is, but I am sure I won't have any problem avoiding his set.

The fact that you're 80 and have a 15 year old brother is amazing.

... You honestly think I'm 80? I thought that was clearly a joke...

Great lineup, I say! I'm a jam guy, so maybe that's why I feel that way, but really though, great stuff. Didn't get to catch Gorgol at Roo last year, really excited about that. Big hopes for Wilco and the SCI set. I've always wanted to see Dispatch, and what better setting than the beach? Really looking forward to Shpongle (maybe full band?) nighttime on the beach, too. Was really hoping for Phish or Eddie Vedder this year, the return of Trombone Shorty, Mariachi el Bronx, and Xavier, but right now undercard favorites are Alabama Shakes. Those guys are fantastic.
Question: Why does everyone hate DMB these days? Is it lack of new stuff? Some of the fans are obnoxious? Seen em too many times? Phish hits every category for me, but I love those guys. DMB's one of the most important touring bands in the world. They're so great live. I'm not too old...when I was in college it was pretty out of the ordinary for people not to like them. My school didn't even have frats! Maybe I'm a bro, ha. The only bro in Lima.
Anywho, I think this lineup is awesome! I hope y'all get excited about it. I think Hangout's all about having great individual experiences at shows, taking it all in, as opposed to something like Roo which is a break-neck 4 day musical onslaught.
Anywho, hope the next headliner is musical and not comedy. Can't wait!

I am pretty unimpressed with the lineup, last year it was a have to go lineup, this year it is not something that will make me drive that far, especially as badly organized as this festival was last year.

Every time I ask someone why they hate DMB it's for strictly two reasons. They say "They're fans are all Bros and suck" so I reply, "well I'm a fan would you consider me a bro?" and they realize their vast generalization has been proved wrong (though I have been subjected to these horrible fans they speak of, yes they do exist). Then the MOST common answer "They're music sucks!" which in the case of this answer I generally respond with "Oh, what songs have you heard?" Which 95% of the time is responded with "You know that one big one, crash into me".... My point is 95% of people who "Hate" DMB, have absolutely no idea what your talking about. Now if you hate them and have listened to at least one good album (Before these crowded streets, or Lillywhite sessions, Remember two things or maybe Crash) and have seen part of a live show and still "Hate" them. Then by all means, continue. You've given them a fair chance, but this is rarely the case.

Yeah, don't you hate when people get overly generalized like that.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.

People on this board would have problems with ANY llineup. It's not finished and we already have cheese! Winwood, wilco, jack white! Dispatch!? Who saw that coming, Gogol, Dave in the sand and a tad of rap thi year . This is going to be a blast. Not to mention they brought back sound tribe and lips! Hangout is ontop of the game
