Holy Schneikeys that is worse than a Bayfest lineup. I'm thinking this is a good thing; hopefully means these bands won't be playing at Hangout (Nelly I might be worried about...) and def means many douchebags will be here instead of at Hangout. Win-win!

I wonder how much overlap there will be with the Mountain Jam lineup. That's a decent indicator of who's going to be out there touring. I'm thinking Mule and The Roots are pretty solid bets at this point. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ben Folds Five and The Word, either.

Question: Did anyone ride bikes down to the site last year? Were you able to find a good place to lock things up? Also, here's hoping for Phish. Everyone at Huka wants them - they're either going to be at Hangout in the next few years, or they'll be doing their own festival at the site. Also: some great NOLA acts like Trombone Shorty last year, maybe Kermit Ruffins or Papa Grows Funk. Can't wait!

someone on the hangout Facebook said there were bike racks last year. I couldn't remember for sure.
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.
No swimming inside the festival. It is fenced off and patrolled heavily. I think they let people swim at DeLuna Fest in Pensacola though.
I heard somewhere that Deluna is now defunct. very poor sales in 2011.
yeah like phunky said no swimming at the fest proper for hangout. lots of people complain but I understand. not only would it be a liability nightmare it would be difficult to keep people from sneaking into the fest from the water. especially considering the fest's limited capacity and high demand, which last year and most likely this year will result in a sell out.
but of course you can swim outside your condo to your heart's content.
We saw a few people last year who hopped the fence to swim and were escorted out by the police. We also saw some trying to make the swim into the festival who were also escorted out by the police.
You can swim if you go VIP...they have a viewing pool fairly close to one of the main stages... I took 2 swimsuits last year, was right on the beach @ a condo w/a pool & never stepped foot in the water of either. (It was all about the music for me last year.) But this year? Oh yeah, I'm gettin' wet!

Go and get it girl!!!! The same thing happened to me, I was so stoked to go swimming and the only time I got wet was in the shower.
That statement almost makes me feel like I'm posting in the wrong thread, ha.
But I reeeeaally wanna go to the Hangout, but I have plans for Jazz Fest and doubt my checking account can handle the triple whammy of New Orleans, Orange Beach, and Manchester all so close to each other.

I didn't go near the water the first year, but we managed to get up and hit the ocean for about an hour each morning last year. It helped that we were right on the beach.
Press passes were all over the place last year. I was approved through 2 different outlets, got my first approval like a full month before the second one. And the second one is much bigger, so I don't think that had anything to do with it.
It's about that time...should we expect the lineup on Tuesday?
last year we had a heads up on the line up drop. also they announced the lineup on a local radio station first before they posted it on the website. maybe tomorrow we'll get an announcement about the announcement on tues?

If that's true, we'll be depending on people like you to keep all of us apprised!

if they do it that way again, rest assured you will all get sweet live updates in this thread.
We've gone both years and the changes from year one to year two were vast. For the first year there, there were only about 12,000 folks there (from what we were told) and you could work your way to the front of any crowd with ease. Last year was incredibly crowded compared to year one, but if you didn't go the first year, you may not have thought so. The good thing is, the organizers were there both years and liked the room in the first year, so in 2012, the grounds have been moved back into the highway a little more and could stretch out even more than that.
