I don't get why so many people say Daft Punk has to happen eventually. They have only played 8 shows in the US in the last 10 years and there is really no reason to think they will be touring extensively in the near future, if at all. Could DP at roo happen? yes. Is it likely? No.

They've played at least 11 actually. Most of them part of the one tour they did during that period. It includes several festival dates. And there have been solid rumours that they plan to tour at some point in the near-future. So it's not out of the question.
These guys made the Tron Legacy Soundtrack. They are back making music.
Daft Punk, be cool this year, and come to Bonnaroo and play a LN What Stage. It will be worth your trip from France and you can add another awesome live performance. The What is about 3x bigger than the Bercy.
It's pretty much the only major american fest they haven't played. IF the tour rumors are true (which, let's be honest, who the fuck knows?), I wouldn't even say it's possible, I'd say its likely. I wouldn't expect a one-off roo show, but if they are touring, I'd say they would probably hit Bonnaroo.

Exactly. The trick is getting them to do American shows. Once they do, Bonnaroo will be on the list like you said.
Yes there are only a limited number of acts that could headline, and Bonnaroo has shown that it has no problem with using the same ones over.. and over... and over.. Not to mention Arcade Fire, Kings of Leon, etc. couldn't have headlined a year or two before they did so who's to say by the time Bonnaroo WOULD have exhausted its headliner list we could make, there wouldn't be more up and coming bands to populate the headliner slots.
Emoney serves more of a purpose than any of you, especially Nate, whose incessant, garbled ramblings are so mindless and pointless that I get depressed just seeing them.
What we do know: Daft Punk is currently designing a national stadium headlining tour for 2011/2012. The Daily Swarm spoke with the Managing Partner and Head of Music of CAA, which represents Daft Punk, and he said he expects "the film soundtrack and tour will lead a dance music juggernaut worldwide. This is going to be the biggest tour of next year." We're excited.

This is the kind of reasoning that leads to disappointment.

Perhaps, but IMO if Daft Punk ever decided to do a US tour anytime throughout Spring or Summer(which the article suggests). I just can't imagine all the major festivals not throwing a boatload of money to these guys. Coachella, Lolla, Roo are all gonna put in their bids and I'd be surprised if Daft Punk did not accept.
I know Daft Punk is predicted every year, but they finally made a new album. They are setting up a tour. Next year is about as likely as it will be for awhile.

Surely they'd choose Bonnaroo out of all of those, since they haven't been? That's really just wishful thinking.
However, if they do come to roo, I realize a LN set would be awesome, but I can't imagine them playing anything but unopposed. There's no way anyone would go to any other show. I imagine like 11-12:30. Although I'd prefer like 11-sunrise

Just an additional thought: Is it possible that they already have them booked, and that the reason tickets went on sale early are because they're playing? Seems unlikely, I know, but it's just a thought.

Well just think that AC wants them as bad as we do. If they are touring the US it may just boil down to a lot of $$. AC has this and will book them. So IF they are touring the US during next summer then it would probably happen. If it does then Bonnaroo will top themselves in 2012. I just can't think of any other big headliners.
