I feel this way too. The acts listed above are much bigger than the acts they are being compared to.
So Foo Fighters are bigger than Beasties?
In terms of relevance leading up to the festival? Yes. Definitely. I don't know if Dave Grohl has ever been as popular as he is right now. Lotta buzz around that guy...
He was not unopposed I went to Thievery, and Dan Deacon.
I watched all of Jay-Z and then still managed to get midway in the tent for the second half of Dan Deacon>Deadmau5. I semi-regret not seeing Thievery Corp. but Jay-Z was worth every second.

You did see that NIN headlined late night which right? And was considered their final tour in North America.
I'll give you one, throw out Snoop and keep Dre. That should even it out a bit.
I love the Beastie Boys. Like a LOT. And I have to agree. Foo Fighters are bigger RIGHT NOW and would sell more tickets RIGHT NOW then The Beastie Boys would.
NIN headlined late night which stage, not tent. Jay-Z headlined Coach too but not Bonnaroo.
They played the late night which stage. Calling them a headliner would also mean that in past years Flaming Lips, String Cheese Incident, and My Morning Jacket (2008) headlined as well. They had a coveted timeslot but they were not a headliner.

So Foo Fighters are bigger than Beasties? Besides Dre is pretty much a has been. If it was Dre & Eminem then yeah, I agree. Maybe Dr. Dre by himself then.
Foos are definitely bigger than the Beasties at this point. Especially at this kind of festival. Beasties have more history but Foo's are everywhere tearing it up right now.
Dr. Dre is a super rare stage act so it's a big deal if he shows up at all.

But since they've played everywhere before, shouldn't they be cheaper?

For the record, Jay-Z was unopposed for the first half hour. Then the LN (Theivery et al.) started at midnight. I remember very clearly. I'll find the schedule for you guys.

FF>Beasties... but I'm biased.
Was I the only one disappointed with the BB show in '09??? Mind you, I was blotto for that show, but I expected more. That show was really the genesis of my theory that Hip Hop doesn't translate to the large festival stage. Snoop built on that a Sunday afternoon. I've seen both Snoop (4x) and BB (2x) in smaller venues, and they put on killer shows.
Bonnaroo 2008-2013
0ct 11 Pearl Jam
Oct 12 Pearl Jam
March 16 Arcade Fire
April 29 Arcade Fire
Sept 4 Wilco
Sept 9 The Hold Steady
Oct 16 Pearl Jam
Oct 17 Gaslight Anthem
I'm not talking about sharing the stage, I'm talking about money wise.
Oh, well that made me giggle. So you're saying one HL would cost as much as two Pre-Headliners? Ground-breaking.
I think where you're missing is by thinking there is even a 1% chance that Dre would be a pre-headliner.
It's Dr. Dre, the Chronic, the guy who put out one of the greatest hip-hop albums ever and then took a decade off, put out one of the other best hip-hop albums ever, and took another decade off.

And Eminem was meh, Lil Wayne was meh... J Cole was good though, and I really don't like much rap/hip hop. Pretty much my tastes in that are old school stuff and eminem. and thats about it. I would probably go see J Cole again if he is back

Exactly, I'm saying it's affordable. I know it's Dr. Dre, I grew up on him. Only reason why I threw him in there is because I'm expecting a big hip hop act and think they're going to be it.

It's affordable if he's a headliner. They're not shelling out headliner cash for a pre-headline slot.
Your concept of financials is odd, to say the least.
