This would work for me. Especially if it meant SCI closing it out on Sunday. I just don't think its likely. A lot of people will want to see Phish close Sunday I think.
Yeah, the jam headliner is a Sunday tradition that people love/hate. I'm just throwing stuff out there. I don't see SCI as a headliner. Maybe have them close out Which on Sunday and have somebody else play What to still have something of a jam closer for the festival. The more I think about it. The more Phish seems a lock for Sunday with if/when they play on top of that being the question. I think insider confirmed Phish just because it still leaves them open for a healthy discussion whereas Foo Fighters, for instance, would be a more obvious Friday headliner with no discussion of them playing a second set.

i cant find any of the old schedules, cause that stupid mindreader thing takes over on bonnaroo.com when i look up schedules. but was Jay-z unopposed mostly in 2010? i cant remember.
that being said, i can see Phish doing a late night sat or fri and closing on sunday. But if they are doing the late night sat, it will be after the #1 billed act, I dont see it being exactly the same as the 09 situation, and i also dont see Phish being listed #1.

He was not unopposed I went to Thievery, and Dan Deacon.
ah crap i found it, it was last year. damn too many bonnaroo's to keep everything in my brain in order haha
It happens. Just when you think that you are positive of something you'll have 10 people telling you "YOU'RE WRONG!"
haha, i really just want to find anyway that rhcp will not be there... feels like a waste of a headliner, same with foos.... if we really have phish (much to my dismay, saw them at fri 09 and i just didnt get into it, love the dead but thats about as far as i go with jam bands) im hoping we get radiohead and/or dre/snoop... and somebody will need to protect ashley capps if we dont get ATDI, it was hard enough watching every festival get DFA1979, please don't miss atdi , PLEASE

He started unopposed, but about 30-40 minutes in all the late-night tent acts started, I believe.
I don't know, I feel like this might be a 2009 redux. Foo Fighters might come cheap as they're not in demand as they played just about every festival last year. Normally, Bonnaroo gets one headliner from Coachella, and I don't think it'll be Radiohead.
Thinking:
Foo Fighters into Phish LN
The Rolling Stones into Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg late night
Phish closes
Why don't you just throw a Duane Allman, Mitch Mitchell and Paul Chambers Super Jam on there since we're not basing our predictions in the Earth realm?
Please tell me how is it different from:
Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band - Phish - Beastie Boys - NIN - David Byrne?
i feel like its always the people from tennessee leaving early, just cause they have less than a 3 hour drive. coming from the north i just find it easier to leave monday

Well for one thing the Rolling Stones are way bigger than any of those bands. Other than that not too much.

...so, you want me to explain how Beastie Boys are not the same as the Rolling Stones as headliner material? Beastie Boys played an opposed concert. Please explain to me how that happens with the Rolling Stones.
If you wanted to make a point, you should have went with the 2010 scheduling to back your theory. The Stevie Wonder > Jay-Z block parallels with Rolling Stones > Dre/Snoop a lot better than Beastie Boys > Phish, fyi.
Phish is only big in the festival circuit. I don't know one person who jams to Phish on their iPod. They may have a huge festival draw, but to say they're "bigger" than DMB is apples and oranges. DMB absolutely destroys phish in mainstream appeal. To think that Phish "has to have" 2 shows because they hold festivals with a lot of attendance means nothing. I could say DMB "has to have" 2 shows because they've won many more grammys than Phish.
I don't think AC/Superfly would make a habit of only catering to the Phish crowd, they're trying to cater to the masses...and let's face it, the masses have become much more mainstream and most couldn't care less about a jam band headliner (myself included). The days of the jam bands ruling Bonnaroo are over IMO...they will only continue to headline on Sundays as a tradition and to respect the roots of the festival.

I am out of this, I was just telling you guys what I have heard same as I was when I started talking about Phish playing in November.

There is no way Phish would be listed above Paul McCartney so no, Phish won't be listed #1

Really? I know plenty. Not all of them are huge festival lovers.
They may have a huge festival draw, but to say they're "bigger" than DMB is apples and oranges. DMB absolutely destroys phish in mainstream appeal.
You're right. Apples and Oranges. DMB also definitely has more mainstream appeal than Phish.
To think that Phish "has to have" 2 shows because they hold festivals with a lot of attendance means nothing. I could say DMB "has to have" 2 shows because they've won many more grammys than Phish.
Did someone actually say that? Like that the reason is that they hold their own festivals?
I would think the "Phish will have 2 shows" stuff stems from the fact that they headlined with two shows in the past, which is rare (and something DMB have not been asked to do).

Every year they have a big jam band headliner as well as a bunch of "jam band" acts throughout the festival. Yes, it has changed over the years (more bluegrass, world music, punk, country, rap, and others) but it still shows love to the jam community.
The days of the jam bands ruling Bonnaroo are over IMO
People have been saying that since the first few years.
...they will only continue to headline on Sundays as a tradition and to respect the roots of the festival.
I think they may have to change it up at some point.....though a jamband on Sunday is better for most people since people leave early and not every Roo-goer is into the jambands that close the fest.
You're combining the scheduling styles of different years when it doesn't mesh with the scale of the headliners you want. 2009 had two headliners, Beastie Boys weren't a true headliner, they also led into a late-night Phish set that was also opposed.
Dre & Snoop are headlining Coach. They are not on-par with David Byrne or NIN (who played a tent).

Dre & Snoop = HL Stones = HL Foo = HL Phish = HL
Now do you get my point?
NIN headlined late night which stage, not tent. Jay-Z headlined Coach too but not Bonnaroo.
Maybe I am wrong, but I thought the reason Phish got to sets in 09 was related to them not having toured since what 04? So Getting Phishthen was a huge get. What have the done since that has esclated them that they once again need to sets? I like Phish, but I would rather have another big name instead of two phish shows.

I feel this way too. The acts listed above are much bigger than the acts they are being compared to.
So Foo Fighters are bigger than Beasties? Besides Dre is pretty much a has been. If it was Dre & Eminem then yeah, I agree. Maybe Dr. Dre by himself then.
