Not sure how preferring the game shouldn't fundamentally change simply for "entertainment value" is a weird opinion. I mean, I guess I get how some AL fans would be supportive just because that's the style of baseball they grew up with. But still, it's not how the game was indented to be played.

Every level of baseball and every league in the world uses the DH except for like twenty teams lol. Pitchers aren't required to hit until they're pros. That's dumb.
*watching some dude who hits .093 try to lay down a bunt and get thrown out halfway to first*
"Pitchers aren't expected to hit until they're pros"
Uh, that's not correct. Kids start by playing both sides of the game when they pitch. It's called playing baseball. And even tho college baseball has a DH, they don't always use it for the pitcher because many times those players are still good hitters at that age.
And all that still isn't the point. Baseball was never established to have a DH. It was done simply to try to increase entertainment value because casual fans couldn't appreciate the strategy of having a pitcher hit all game.
How you really going to argue that not using the DH is more strategic? That's part is not even debatable. Stop trying to move the goal post with other sports. Football allowed the forward pass over a century ago. It's been the same game for a long time. And allowing dunks in basketball doesn't fundamentally change the game or how it's played.
And there's nothing wrong with being a casual fan. But I don't think sports should change to appease those type of fans.
Nobody likes seeing pitchers hit .095 and strike out all the time.
But I do like the strategy involved of whether or not to pinch hit, or double switch
And then there's stuff like this...
the random pitcher you wouldn't expect hitting dingers is a lot like a fake FG or something. it's fun but idk that it needs to be protected. there's only so many that are good (shout-out to the in the OP Zambrano)
having a DH also invites a lot of pinch running, and there's always still a need for situational pinch hits/defensive changes.
there are always teams that don't even use the same DH every time. it's not like every team has Big Papi.
it also allows for stars to stay in games with some load management not having to do double duty. I feel like we've DHd almost everyone on our team at some point.
So I play OOTP in an online league. We've reached the point in the timeline where it's all fictional players now. But...
My team's closer is also my fourth outfielder. I got another player who can pitch plus play 2nd, short, and 3rd. I like having the flexibility on roster spots and its always a plus when pitchers can hit.
This has not been confirmed one way or the other. MLB and the union will meet and discuss continuing all of the changes made this year during the off-season. I think the universal DH is here to stay, probably expanded playoffs too (although maybe not the 16 team format they used this year).

I'm not arguing that it's not *more strategic*. I'm arguing that the difference doesn't amount to checkers vs chess.
I'm not "moving the goalposts". I'm making the point that sports change rules sometimes and that your insistence that rules should never change is not how sports work. The DH was instituted 45 years ago, anyway. It's been around a long time. Do you feel this way about interleague play also? That actually happened in my lifetime. I see nothing wrong with it, either.
Dunking has absolutely had a fundamental impact on the way basketball is played. I can go into detail about how it has, but that should be obvious anyway.

whether a player dunks a basketball or does a layup is no where near the same as allowing a completely different hitter to hit for another just for the sake of "entertainment." And it was only instituted in the AL at the time, so obviously not everyone was behind it. Yeah, rules change over time. But not every rule change is of the same consequence. Some changes effect the game far more than others.

It makes a massive difference. Dunks are even surer shots than layups, basically 100%. Lob threats are an increasingly important aspect of the game. The Rockets are literally going to go out and sign Willie Cauley-Stein or someone like that because he's tall and he can dunk on alley oops. The NCAA didn't change the rule for no reason, they changed it to nerf super tall players like KAJ. There are dunks in every game. You can't play in the NBA if you can't dunk, for the most part. There are a handful of exceptions, but they're extremely rare. Dunks are so important to the game of basketball that people essentially can't imagine the game without them.

It’s just dumb to have pitchers hitting these days, they aren’t good at it, even the ones who are “good at it.” We don’t have WRs playing CB in the NFL so why have a shitty hit just because that’s the pure sport or whatever.

so much effort is going into protecting pitchers health. even someone like ohtani who's a legitimate two way player in that regard, can't stay healthy, and it's starting to look like he's going to have to just be a hitter and not pitch or vice versa.

Patriots done it before
True I guess a few players have gone both ways. There are a few who could.
@slack but how many pitchers would hit if the DH went away?
I'm pretty indifferent about it tbh. I didn't really prefer it when it first came out but I don't really care either way now. But interleague play is a lot different than some of these new changes, like expanded playoffs, that dumb extra inning rule, and all that.
I'm not against change to the game but I am against change just for the sake of change. Or worse yet, change just for more money being the primary factor.

But that gets back to it being done just for entertainment value. Because casual fans can't stand that 1 min where a pitcher is at the plate, and its sooo "boring", let's change the entire game around to appease them. Not every player is going to be good at every aspect of the game, that doesn't mean changes are needed.
