Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
They really should start it earlier. I'd really like to be into VIP by noon.
Even with the line that forms early you should still be able to get in to VIP before noon. The last few years they have started the check-in process before 10:00 AM to get everyone through as quickly as possible.
My group has actually camped out at the VIP check-in the last two years however last year they were actively trying to discourage this and closed the gates to the parking lot early Wednesday evening. They did not force anyone in the parking lot already out however they did not let anyone else in until the next morning. Due to this we have gotten in so early we had time to set up camp, relax, and then enjoy the Centeroo grand opening celebration.
By the way, the reason VIP does not open until Thursday morning is due to the fact that VIP patrons must enter through the same road, however traveling in the opposite direction, as is used to fill up the BFE camping areas across the bridge to the east of the main campground areas.
Every year a little before noon on Thursday they have a little grand opening celebration for Centeroo/Bonnaroo. Just in front of the arch they have a small band, dancers, stilt walkers, and a bunch of people welcoming everyone to Bonnaroo and then they count down to noon and the official opening of the festival.
I am sure most people have not heard about this as the majority of people are still arriving and setting up camp however it is fun to watch if you can. I did not know about it until the first year we did VIP and we heard all of this happening as we were relaxing after setting up our camp.
So my friend and I are coming from FL and this is our first time. I went all out and got the VIP tickets but I am still wondering if we got everything we needed to get in. All I got were 2 vip wristbands, 2 vouchers for a vip parking pass with directions on the back. It says the vip doesn't open until 8am thursday morning (so maybe its opening earlier this year instead of 10 from what I have been reading). Im just wondering if these directions are the best ones to take or would it be better to go a different route to avoid traffic. It says to take
I24 east to exit 105 to route 41 Right on 41 toward Manchester and go 9 miles. Left on Kimberly Lane Left on Grosch Dr to site.
Think this is a good route or would you suggest something better? We are just trying to figure out the best way to avoid traffic and not get in late.
Yep, those are the same directions they have used for the past couple of years. It's a few extra miles (if you are coming from the south, like me) but you get the thrill of rolling past miles and miles of cars waiting in traffic on I-75, and then a nice ride in on the pastoral high plains of Hwy 41. Savor it, especially the sight of all those folks parked on the interstate.
Just looked at the hotel I booked for Wednesday and it's location to the VIP entrance. It's less than 2 miles away. I booked before I saw the directions. I do not know how I got that lucky. lol
we did have a more thorough search than ever before....
sometimes the line is good because the people have more to do than look through my underwear.
We came in the RV again this year. After the rain on Wed. night the Mrs. complained that they "better not track any mud in". Asked if we had any firearms or glass and sent us on our way. Never entered the rv. last year was about the same
Resurrecting this thread because I didn't see this question asked, but I'm dropping my kids off in Pigeon Forge and if I put Grosch Dr into my GPS it takes me through Sparta and some back roads and coming in south of Kimberly instead of north, do I NEED to follow the directions exactly or just get to Grosch Dr however?

i'm pretty sure you need to get onto kimberly from hillsboro highway. I don't see a way to get to Grosch Dr without getting on kimberly first, and other roads will either be blocked off for event vehicles or full of GA cars.
Oh, I'll be on Hillsboro Hwy, just coming in from the south (turning right on kimberly) instead of from the north (turning left on kimberly). I don't think it would make a difference but I wanted to get a little verification so I don't end up on a blocked road or anything.

Yep, just turn right onto Kimberly and you'll be good. There will be signs and cops directing traffic, just have your VIP parking tag up as you approach and you'll be good to go.

Last year, we took my girlfriend's Jeep Wrangler (a two door model). We took the back seat out so we could pack everything in there. The coolers were directly behind us, butted up against our seats. The guy looked in the back and said, "you know, I think it's too much trouble to have you get everything out just so I can look through your coolers. Did you bring any glass?" We said no and he said, "have a nice time!"
EDIT: And now I see that I replied to a 2 year old post!
