Last time we did VIP it was with a hotel and shuttle, so we didn't really have to deal with traffic. Is it easier driving into the VIP entrance, or do you have to sit in the same traffic as the GA folks? We'll probably be cruising in early Thursday Afternoon.
So do you wait in same line with GA to get the wristband? We will be leaving early thursday AM from Louisville, KY. I figure about three hours to Nashvegas. Wondering how long from there till we are setting up camp. Just want to try to time it so we are chilling in our spot by Thursday afternoon.
Last year was my first roo and I have to say check-in was awesome. Arrived at 10am and drove right up to the check-in and 30 minutes later we were at our camp. Had camp established by noon at which time I passed out from heat prostration and exhaustion from the 14 hr drive. Going solo this year...once was enough for my crew.

noooooooo!
there is a separate VIP check in. it was at a local school last year - you didn't even have to get out of your car. very nice

Sweet that is worth the price jsut not to sit in that traffic!
This is refreshing news...07 VIP check in was a disaster compared to 06.
How was the access to the school where the check in is? I have my truck and camper (47 feet combined) so I always have to look what I am getting myself into.

How was exiting? On Sunday night or Monday?
School access was awesome- last year we had a giant RV and could do donuts if we wanted.
BUT- getting out was a long wait. Probably twice as long as getting in.
My wife and I drove from Huntsville to Bonnaroo. We left the apartment around 1pm, stopped for lunch on our way out of town, and were sitting in our finished campsite within 3 hours.
Sunday, we left pretty early (around 2pm), due to sheer exhaustion, and got home in about 2 hours.

07 VIP was pretty bad. Does anyone know if last year they allowed VIPers to camp out at the check-in if they showed up early in the morning? They did in 07, but that could've played a problem too.
i wasnt in vip in 06 but 07 was BAD! they had check in at the holiday in and no one could get in or get out of the parking lot. it was bad news. Last year was a breeze. the high school parking lot was empty when i pulled up and we rolled in and out in like 5 minutes. we were at our campsite ready to set up in about 30. i remember driving past the miles of cars trying to get into bonnaroo thinking...that was me in 2006. I'll never go GA again after going VIP

yeah, i meant to say 07 myself, i didn't go VIP in 06. The hotel was swamped and the standing line was ridiculous to get your bracelet. I'm debating whether i should stay in knox a few hours after the phosh show and drive over in the late A.M. or if i should leave right after the phish/knox show and camp at the school/new spot. Hmmmm.
I will be going VIP again this year. Do any of you have the address of the school? I would like to put that into the GPS already and start mapping things out.
We left Monday around noon and got right out. Not sure if they're doing VIP check in at the school again this year or not, but it was a breeze in '08...in and out in 20 minutes.

Last year we arrived at school for the VIP check-in at about 10 PM on Wednesday night and spent the night in the parking lot. There were several dozen vehicles already camped out and they kept arriving all night long.

We may stay at the checkin overnight this year. It would be nice to wake up and already be in line and not worrying about finding the place. Good idea. Hope to see y'all there!
I asked this question under the VIP camping thread but this is maybe a more appropriate thread....anyone know what the current policy is on bringing along a small trailer for carrying all your junk. We had one in '05 and were thinking of bringing one again this year...
I think they should make it even easier and not require us to go offsite. Why can't parking passes be mailed and wristbands affixed as we roll in to the campgrounds? We could set up camp earlier and bypass the first stop. That would be a true VIP experience!

The answer is per Bonnaroo email:
You can enter with a small utility trailer, but it must be the smallest option available.

This will be my 2nd bonnaroo but first time doing it vip.... do they disclose the VIP check-in location info in the envelope with the tics? I am extremely ocd (no, really) and I always make an ultra-organized binder with driving directions, info, phone numbers, etc... (despite having gps and info saved in my cell phone) and not knowing all necessary info yet is giving me an awkward tick (j/k kinda)
