This is FUCKING absurd... They have put together a PHENOMENAL lineup. If you don't like the festival, or how superfly conducted all this then keep your ass at home....

A petition... Are you kidding me!!??
No sir, they are not kidding. Folks petitioned Roo last year when STS9 and SCI were up against one another. It was equally lame.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
I honestly am at a loss to understand why people are so pissed. The only reason everyone seems disapointed is because they expected this announcement to be a reaction to Prince at Coachella. But it wasn't. It was a reaction to the allmans cancelling, something unexpected and totally out of Superfly's control. They pulled in some old friends on short notice because they were in a pinch. Coachella was planning the Prince announcement for months. They never should have been compared.
And even after the announcements I still think Roo has the strongest overall lineup. Lolla's headliners look great....for 1994. Now 2 of the 3 acts are well past their prime and the best undercard acts are also at Roo. And others are complaining about WSP at Roo so they're going to Rothbury instead to see....WSP!?!!?! I fail to see the logic in that.
I'm with Bonscot on this one. Petitioning Roo for failing to live up to unrealistic expectations is just plain lame.
And we have a winner!! I agree 100% on all accounts. People get pissed that the jambands aren't playing then they get mad when they are added. And a petition ........really??

I don't get why people are raising a stink about a petition. If you don't like it, then don't sign it and it will never affect your life again. If you do like it then sign it. This petition isn't out to ruin bonnaroo or to cancel it. Just letting them know that some people out here weren't happy with the way they handled the situation. So be it.
Since when is standing up for what you believe in and doing something about it rather than whining all day on the internet selfish and lame?

I jokingly put that a petition should be started yesterday when RooDectitive found out they would be having WSP but I was only kidding and referring to the Metallica petitions and such. I think it's a fine addition but it's not ABB but Claypool is nice to have as well. I for one am only but slightly disappointed.

...since when are petitions limited to exclusive use in political struggles? thought they were simply a place to collect like opinions for presentation to an authority...we got PIZZA day because of one in 5th grade

I really don mind the additions, my beef was that I think they were playing off of the Led Zeppelin rumors in an attempt to sell more tickets. Many peoples inclination upon hearing the announcement of a big announcement was to hurry and by their ticket in case Zepplin was added. A bit exploitive me thinks.
And that's fine. The best way to tell a business you don't like the way they operate is not to give them your money. People are talking about how other festivals' lineups are better, but they don't seem to be going to those festivals. You made a logical decision (and Rothbury looks really nice)[/quote
Our group already purchased our tickets mainly because we had a good time last year but I do have to say that after the lollapalooza line up came out I had that feeling of "maybe we should have waited to get the bonnaroo tickets". If lolla's lineup would have came out first we would have chose it this year. We'll have to really consider this next year when we purchase our tickets. If I could afford it I would just go to all of them but unfortunately that's not the case.
I'll be there this year and I'll have a good time none the less. Seriously, eventhough the Big announcement wasn't as big as I had hoped for there are still over 20 shows that I want to see. That's going to be one busy weekend. with that said I can't wait til BONNAROOOOOOOOOOO
i am in california and i have quite a few friends going to coachella this year... and up until prince was added, they complained nonstop about the lineup. even now, after the prince addition, they still complain. why is this? maybe its one of those "grass is always greener" scenarios. same thing here..
i don't understand why people are complaining about superfly's lineup for bonnaroo... if you don't like whats been offered, then why not just decide to attend a different festival? i know a lot of people buy tickets right away because of several reasons, but just because you've bought a ticket doesn't mean superfly has to give you exactly what you want. and come on, there must have been some reason that you were SURE you wanted to get those tickets right away... maybe because of smaller acts, the location, or- oh i don't know- the "bonnaroo experience"!?
this being said- the addition for me was bittersweet. the allmans cancelling sucked because i am one HUGE fan. wsp, for me, is good for a headliner- not too big of a fan so i don't feel like i need to be 5 feet away, so its easy to sit back and enjoy the closeout. and i'm really excited for les.
You should add to the petition that they didn't get Jerry Garcia, Jimi Hendrix, John Bonham and Michael Jackson (pre surgery) and Jesus to play the super jam.
I think its more about how the PR was done than the line up. its like on "lets make a deal" the unknown is better than the known. also mixing pj and jj seems to have upset the base of both bands. if it was a 3rd set of them mixing then all would be happy.

If people read the petition, they would realize it is NOT against who was added. Jamband, non-jamband, Roo regular, newbie, whatever. It is against the caliber of the addition which, in many people's opinion, is not enough to warrant the hype implied with a pre-announcement announcement. Though I personally do not like WSP, that is NOT what this is about. If a smaller band I loved was added, say We Are Scientists, I would still feel it did not live up to the announcement, even if I personally was pleased.
we would like not to feel tricked with misleading advertising.
I wasn't misled, I think WSP and Claypool are big additions (as well as JJ not headlining!). I read many post here wishing for Claypool during the wait for the "big announcement". Was it really advetising, or was it just news associated with the festival? I don't think anyone bought tickets because of the announcement of the coming "big announcement". I've had my tickets since minutes after they went on sale.
