Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
ya i really want to go, but the logistics or travelling there with everything you'd need to survive any life occurence blows my mind... you'd have to take like 3 weeks off from work... 1 week travelling each way, 1 week there...
if you flew... wtf would u do to get all your shiz there...
you would ship your stuff and pick it up when you get there.
im thinking "camp inforoo - burning man 2009" or well, something like that
like i mentioned, we watched that documentary this weekend - then went out to one of those japanese places that cook all the food on a giant grill. we thought that making a giant onion volcano that shot fire would be an awesome art exhibit there...
We could probably rent a big storage locker somewhere without actually being there in-person, then ship items to said locker. Heavier stuff would have to be purchased once there. Vehicles would need to be rented, etc...

The people I know who go spend all year actually making schematics, building plans, etc. They had a three story living structure one year that slept over 50 people as their camp. And they said they were a SMALL camp! And these aren't even the major theme camps, just general GA. The real hardcore west coast burners devote their year round existence to it. Makes us inforooers look like uber-wimps.

Maybe I'll throw myself to the dogs, but my back's not to the wall Maybe I'll lay some bricks for the man, but the days just aren't that long So if I settle back and chill will I see far enough to feel the angel's dream? I thought it was the Story of the World!

And the participants are expected to creat their own art, including night clubs that are set up for one single night and then taken down...here's one exhibit someone put on.
i want to go to burning man, i saw one of the art pieces in steamboat a few years ago and it was sweet. plus the planning options available set my OCD side on fire.

I'd like to go sometime, but it is really far away from me and I know it wouldn't be soon because of the amount of time to take off work etc. The gal thinks it might be too hard on her. I think anyone who got through Bonnaroo '07 could handle it as long as they realize it's longer and more intense. Then too, I could be talking out my ass and halfway through I'd just pass out in the desert. Haven't been in a desert since I was 8.

I had planned to go this year but for a number or reasons it's looking less and less likely. A great book to get a feel for the event is "This is Burning Man" by Brian Doherty.
There are a lot of opinions on what BM means anymore. Some have decried that its become a one week yuppie playground, while others say it hasn't changed. Much like here where everyone argues that Roo isn't what it once was. I think both are whatever you make of it. However this year may mark a turning point for BM. After Paul Addis and the premature burn last year it will be interesting to see how the LLC will react. Depending on their reaction and other factor I plan on being there in 2009 and think that Camp Inforoo would be a cool camp theme.
thanks for the forum link. do you know if its possible for "strangers" to join up to existing camps? i mean - by myself (or with my gf) we have little to offer artwise to the folks at BM.

Lots of camps post on there looking for members. And there are new camps starting up all the time. It's not a requirement that you make something or be an artist.
There are only two real rules. 1. Leave no trace, leave nothing behind, zip, nada, not a cigarette but or pop top even. 2. No spectators. You don't just walk around and gawk..... put on a silly costume, get into the spirit of things, act up a bit....
I'm not an artist by any means but I can weld ( a little) and have a few ideas I'm willing to try. I think the Camp Inforoo would be a good idea, we can brainstorm some themes and between us I'm sure we could find the talent to build a really cool campsite.
