You just beat me to posting this. I just read it. Not overly impresed with the lineup and after the whole thing with the cop this year I think that it will take more than a decent lineup to draw the people, which is a shame.

agreed.....not so impressive.....YET.....i still aint goin'
i didnt plan pn going anywyas. the state police headline wakarusa. and the rest is pretty weak for an inital lineup. im hoping yonder will be at spring hookah so ill cathch them there. and im sure ill see nma, tlg, and alo somewhere else throughout the summer. i say screw kansas cops, screw kansas cops, screw festies on public property, and screw festivals that lure unsupecting peacful hippies into a huge piggy sting operation. ill skip the pigs at waka and take the horses at roo. im thinking this will be wakas last year because ive talke to tons of people that will never go after last year.
personally im kinda upset that these bands would be apart of it. id boycott it after that shit lasy t year. what band wants to bring their fans to that. i know they need to make money but there are plenty of festies where tey can do that without leading theire fans into a cop trap.

*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
Earlier I was thinking about the chance the attendees might end up having. If they book this lineup full of great acts, then only get half as many people as last year, then those people there will have a full festival lineup with minimal crowds. If the police weren't so rude it'd actually be ideal.
yeah i've never been to wakarusa before but after all the stuff with the pigs i read about last year, i'd be pretty damn hesitant, not even for fear that i'd be caught doing something (i wouldn't bring anything w/ me in the car to any of these festivals) but just because i don't want to support what went on there. it's a damn shame.
The Wakarusa Music and Camping Festival has confirmed its next round of artist additions. Medeski, Martin and Wood, Tea Leaf Green, Ozomatli, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, JJ Grey and MOFRO, New Monsoon, The Greencards, Everyone Orchestra, Bobby Bare Jr., Lotus, The Lee Boys, Toubab Krewe, RAQ, Bassnectar, The Wood Brothers, Pnuma Trio, The Motet, Delta Nove, and Spam Allstars will join a lineup which already includes Widespread Panic, Yonder Mountain String Band, the Slip, and Little Feat, among others. As previously reported Wakarusa will take place from June 7-10 in Lawrence, KS.
damn damn damn. why did the cops have to screw this up. the wood bros., mmw, grace potter, tlg, toubab krewe, ymsb, wsp, nma, etc... its almost enough for me to consider going. guess it will depend on how many of these acts will be at roo and other fests. if i can catch most of them elsewhere then i wont bother with the cops. i would think it has to be better then last year just to redeem themselves and have a chance at keeping it profitable. but its on public property so im not sure what they can really do about the cops.

i was on their website and it has a link "whats different in 2007' and the very first thing listed is "Kinder, gentler and more respectful security." man this lineup is making me seriously think about it. with no fests the 2 weekends before and after roo this could be worth doing. i heard alot of bad things about police checkpoints on the highway exits leading in. waka has no control over that.
ya i know man. but that lineup just improved greatly. i have no problems with driving there with nothing. but i dont wanna get messed with over getting some party favors once im there. and i dont wanna be around that vibe. and i really dont wanna give my money to a fest that did what it did last year. but damn it would be a great time without the cops.
im actually surprised it didnt move to another venue in another state this year. i think thats the one thing that could have saved it. maybe they have a lease or contract and are waiting for that to expire. or maybe theyre just staying.
Ben Harper, Michael Franti, and AOD Added to Wakarusa
Ben Harper and the Innocent Criminals, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Ozric Tentacles, and Split Lip Rayfield have been added to the 2007 Wakarusa Music Festival. These artists top off the festival’s latest round of additions, which also includes Indigenous, Grant Lee Phillips, Assembly of Dust, Be Good Tanyas, Yo Mama's Big Fat Booty Band, Shannon McNally, Backyard Tire Fire, Outformation, Kan'Nal, U-Melt, The Bridge, Boombox, Dubconscious and Kid Beyond. As previously reported, Wakarusa will take place in Lawrence, KS from June 7-10 featuring Widespread Panic, Yonder Mountain String Band, MMW, and Little Feat among others.
holy sh.it.... well that settles it... i will chance the pigs. what a freeking lineup. this line up was crazy before. but harper, franti, ozric tentacles, aod, umelt, the bridge. and its good to see nelson ledges regulars boombox playing a big fest. damn i hope roo is doing something special. if it wasnt for the police state last year this lineup the weekend before roo could do some serious damage to roos ticket sales. and it sitill might.
ozric tentacles would make for a great latenight at roo.

They mentioned something on the sight about "Kinder, gentler, and more respectful security" hopefully its not BS... Some of my peeps from last summer are going VIP this year, i dont think i'll make it out there this time... Langerado and 10klf are in the bag for me though, thinking about trying my first High Sierra though if im gunna be in colorado this spring... Might catch some SCI shows on winter carnival after Langerado and move in with friends in Vail, CO... Im on a mission...
I read an article about the security last year... let me try to find it... well I can't find it darn it. It may have been posted on here, so if it sounds familiar to anyone please post the link... anyways, the article said that the equipment used for surveillance was all from a security company in California. It was a sort of "try before you buy" arrangement. The important thing was that the equipment was super expensive and the state would not be able to afford to buy it. So the high tech night vision goggles and security cameras will not be there again this year.
Still, the fact that Kansas cops were willing to try out this equipment on a peaceful gathering of unsuspecting music lovers is scary in itself. They seemed to have as much fun with it as they while they could.
ya i read that also. i think it was on here. so all the toys wont be around. and they do have the kinder gentler more respectful security under the new in 2007 link. im torn. i dont really wanna support this fest after last year. but that lineup is incredible. and i dont wanna go 2 weekends in row with nothing to do between spring hookah and and roo.

Im willing to bet it will be more relaxed than last year... Im sure the promoters werent impressed with the pigs either... It doesnt help their cause in the least... But Waka has that reputation now and it might be hard to redeem themselves.... Lineup isnt as loaded as it was last year IMO although it could be after some additions... Im anxious to hear what its like... It was such an incredible experience, even with the pigs last year... I'd like to see them bring it together and keep people coming back...
he Mutaytor’s Matthew Nash Arrested for Suspicion of an Attempted Lewd Act on a Child
The Mutaytor’s Matthew Nash has been arrested for suspicion of an attempted lewd act on a child. The 36-year old musician was arrested as part of an online sting operation intended to catch sexual offenders. Nash contacted who he believed to be a 13-year old girl and communicated his desire to, according to MSNBC, “get naked in a hot tub with her, smoke marijuana and put oil all over each other’s bodies.” The musician then drove approximately an hour to what he believed to be her Long Beach, CA, home where he was apprehended by the police. According to MSNBC, Nash, who has been married for 12 years, has been seeing a counselor “because he’s met others online for sex.” In light of the situation The Mutaytor has bowed out of its spot at Wakarusa
"Les Claypool Galactic Martin Sexton Son Volt Honkeytonk Homeslice Seepeoples Asylum Street Spankers Crooked Still DJ Harry Earl Greyhound . . . and more to be announced soon!"
I was thinking about the comparisons between roo and waka from people annoyed at the lack of "jam" acts at roo. Might it be in Bonnaroo's best interest not to announce acts that play both festivals given the same company runs both festivals? In other words, stealing the thunder of Wakarusa is exactly the opposite of what Bonnaroo would want to do...
