How easy is it? I'll be going with a friend who doesn't really seem too excited to be going, so it's kind of putting a damper on my mood. Just wondering how friendly people are about coming up to strangers to say hi? I have a feeling I'll be walking around a lot by myself...
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain I like watchin' the puddles gather rain And all I can do is just pour some tea for two And speak my point of view But it's not sane, It's not sane
I just want some one to say to me I'll always be there when you wake

I'm with you. I'll be going with a friend but she has a press pass so I know there will be some time by myself. I'm actually looking forward to it because I want to meet new people. Like the two of you, I can be introverted but I really want to make new friends

Making a bunch of new friends from all over is going to be my mission this weekend

That's what is so great about roo. As introverts we are surronded by people who come up to us and start talking to us. It is the most relaxed, friendly and non-intimidating environment you can get.

You're so right. I remember in middle school going to a sleepaway camp for a week. I knew only one other person there and was very nervous about going. Prior to camp I was such a wallflower. Once I got there I thought to myself "I can be whoever I want because no one knows me." Instead of pretending to be someone I wasn't though, I just ended up being myself, just a little more extroverted. I ended up having the time of my life and realized putting yourself out there is so worth it, there will always be people who accept you. Since then I've been less self-conscious and anxious to meet new people wherever I go.
Just as much as I'm looking forward to seeing and hearing amazing music, I'm looking forward to being in an environment with laid back, friendly, open-minded people who don't judge.

I too, was the same way when we moved and I started middle school not knowing a single soul. It was horrible, especially because of all the things that happen to a young person at the ages of 12,13 and on top of that being extremly shy and self-conscience already. When we moved again after I got done with middle school and I started high school not knowing anyone, I became a little less shy.
I cannot wait for the ROO!! Laid-back, easy-going are my type of people. Cannot wait for the awesome music either.

Shout out to Oakland County, Michigan; I'm originally from Southfield.
This is an inspirational thread: because why go to a get together with thousands and thousands only to stay insular with the group you came with. This is the spirit: meet people, dance with a stranger, share some food or drink with one who needs it.

Awesome! Southfield is about 10 minutes west of me. How are you liking TN?

I've lived in Tennessee for 10 years & love it. But Detroit will always feel like home.
It's an easy drive for y'all--when are you leaving?
Thursday morning, should take us around 10 hours, depending on Traffic/construction/how fast we drive/how many stops we make. 75 most of the way I believe.
I notice you've adapted to the southern slang. Gotta love the "y'all"

YO... REPRESNETIN' THE 24-iz8.
248 fo' shizzle (even though I am sporting my 586 because I don't feel like going through the hassle to change phone numbers even after I have been living here for the past 2 years).
mmm... you know what would be perfect at bonnaroo?? some SMORES!!
S'mores in an excellent idea! This may be a naive question, but how would we roast the marshmallows?
On a side note- if you guys are walking around solo (or with friends) and see a big flag of bright yellow Joe Boxer shorts with a big smiley on them, come over and say hi!

So, do study the maps & please don't speed! My dad was here last week and got a speeding ticket.
When I travel between northern home & souther home, I switch to i-71 south of Cinci, cut over to louisville, take 65 to Nash Vegas. You can do this and join i24, but be ready for the traffic.
I'm leaving early Thursday for a drive that's only a little more than an hour.
You may consider taking "the back way" if you are good with directions. Taking 55 to bushy branch from the opposite direction of 24 will take you longer driving but will get you onto bushy branch much much faster.
Remember, you do not have a front license plate and can get pulled over for nothing in Ohio, KY and TN. I do not think some of the cops are aware thet MI drivers have no front plate and it freaks them out.

IMPORTANT NOTE: If said people happen to be speaking in some language not known on this planet that ends every phrase with "Brah", you are speaking to a w00k... Just step back slowly and walk away

Well smores would be a great way to meet people! I believe some people set of bonfires? or have grills? I could be wrong. And I will most certainly look for your flag!

Wow. I had no idea you have to have a front license plate in other states. Can they still give you a ticket if you're from Michigan though?

No.
And honestly, of the many many many numerous times that I have driven though states that use front license plates, I have never been pulled over for any reason.
As its been stated in this thread and others, drive safe, obey the traffic laws (this includes not following too closely which seemed to be a common infraction among a few people I talked to after last year's concert... which seemed more like police looking for an excuse), don't draw attention to yourselves or your vehicle and you should be in for a smooth ride from Motown to Manchester!

Hope to meet lots of my fellow mo-towners down there as well as some new people. My friend and I will be the ones having trouble putting our tent up, look for us! This is my first time camping in 15 years.
