the only thing that worries me is his placement in late night. it would be SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET if he played late night after sigur ros. my mind would be officially blown!! ;D

As a corollary to my previous post, he's also billed higher than Levon Helm. If you're billed higher than Levon Helm, you're not going in a tent.
Same with Sigur Ros, and that's why I think a lot of people are going to be disappointed when the schedule gets released and find out that Ros will be a daytime show. There's no room on the stages after dark for such a highly billed act.

sigur ros will NOT be daytime. i'd bet my ticket on it. its not gonna happen.

look at last years lineup....... Ornette Coleman ahead of Bob Weir, Decemberists, Ziggy Marley, The Roots, and Kings of Leon, all of who had a stage show, whereas Ornette Coleman had a tent. They also have Ween and Gov't Mule ahead of Decemberists, Ziggy, Roots, and KOL and both Ween and Mule had tent shows, Mule doing a late night tent show. So sorry to say, your billing on the lineup is simply an indicator, not the be all tell all of the situation.
Wow I was hoping for a little more Techno in the line-up but this is like Christmas in March! I wouldn't rule out a tent- Sasha played in a tent, then Sasha and Digweed played in a tent. However, I would vote for Which or even What Stage because he will certainly draw enough people. Has there ever been a late night main stage show?

I think a lot of people are overestimating the draw of Sigur Ros (and now Tiesto). If you go around asking casual American music fans what they think about Sigur Ros, you're probably gonna get a lot of blank stares. It's even worse with Tiesto. Most people in America have never even heard of Tiesto.
Tiesto will probably have a tent set until dawn, and Sigur Ros will almost definitely be in a late-night tent. I seriously doubt there will be any problems with the crowd being too big for either.
And as for putting them in front of Levon Helm, nobody knows who he is, either. Just like Phil Lesh. We take this music for granted sometimes, and it's easy to forget that the general public can't name anyone from the Grateful Dead except Jerry Garcia...or anyone in The Band at all.
I'm not downing any of these artists in any way, just trying to explain how the "other ones" see it. Me and Sparklybecca and I think Cupcake and some others kinda discussed this in another thread recently... <3.

Where & when do you think they'll be then? Of course it would be ideal that they perform after dark, but I just can't see them in a tent with the crowd they will draw, anything's possible though. Maybe they will open up the main stage.

No doubt, but it's still a very good indicator. Plus the elder statesman of jazz doesn't exactly bring in the crowds of the Bonnaroo demographic. He was billed appropriately for his name, but his crowd drawing ability for 18-35 year olds isn't exactly the same as a DJ Tiesto or a Sigur Ros. But your right, there's no way to know for sure until the schedule is released, but until then it's fun to speculate!

^ Um, please see my post above yours.
EDIT: And, saying for the sake of argument that Tiesto and Sigur Ros really will draw huge crowds...Bonnaroo knows how to handle that. Phil Lesh/Sigur Ros/DJ set including Tiesto all playing at the same time. Splits 'em up just fine, works every time.

If Bonnaroo wasn't targeting the average American music fan, they wouldn't have signed Metallica to headline.
you really think the majority of people who attend a festival like Bonnaroo are CASUAL music fans? just because a headliner doesn't fit into most of our conceived notions of what bonnaroo is, doesn't mean the people who are there are all casual fans. i'm certainly not, and from the discussion that goes on around this board, i don't think most of them are either.
