Just out of curiosity, I haven't seen much on this at all... Has Superfly/LZ/anyone with any importance had any comments on this mirror article? I know superfly has already deemed the LZ/Metallica rumor inaccurate and then Metallica said almost immediately it was false. I've seen no rebuttal from anyone on this mirror article. Have I just missed it or have they all stayed quiet about it?
I only think this because it's become quite a popular article in the world of entertainment lately... it's popping up everywhere. I feel like Superfly or some member in Led Zeppelin would have commented on it by now... atleast deem is inaccurate or something
So, if (big IF) LZ appear and it is their only US gig announced at that point, I am seriously worried about availability of tickets, yeah, but really about saving the whole farm scene.
It will be really scary having desperate LZ fans crashing the farm...many will come to see the show with or without tickets and the number of overzealous fans could be a serious, really serious problem.
There is no way AC/Superfly could secure all entrances and access to the farm and it will be overrun!
Am I just being paranoid? I mean...if no other LZ tour dates are announced prior to June (except for Bonnaroo) it will be a crazy lawless scene (at least more lawless than it already is!)
If Zep is coming, they will definitely not be announced when tickets go on sale. Superfly is anything but stupid. They're in this for the long-haul. If Zepplin is playing and they announced it immediately, their long-term patrons would not be able to buy tickets. This might be fine for '08, but would cause long-term problems. If Zepplin is going to play, either (a) tickets will go on sale prior to any band announcements (so we can all get in), (b) they'll be a late addition if ticket sales are low, or (c) they'll be a "superjam" announcement if it's a near sell-out. Most likely, it's (d) they're not playing.
In any case, Superfly won't make the monumental mistake of announcing Led Zepplin before tickets go on sale.

Also, the other telling note will be ticket prices. If Zepplin is coming, Superfly will have to dramatically increase security measures. Fences will need to be much bigger than usual, they'll need massive security around the perimeter, they'll need triple the size of security inside for the hoodlems that make their way in, etc. That all comes with a price.

Now it's all starting to make sense. They had to buy the farm in order to make the improvements necessary for the massive security measures required to have Led Zeppelin play Bonnaroo. Twenty foot high six foot thick reinforced concrete walls, alligator filled moat, guard towers, mine fields, etc.
Exactly, which is why we will probably never see Led Zeppelin at Bonnaroo, ever. But it's probably for the best. We don't want this turning into another Woodstock 99. And we did have some good Zeppelin tunes last year with the SuperJam, and JPJ joining Gov't Mule's latenight show and Ben Harper and the IC's set, and whoever else JPJ played Zeppelin tunes with, I can't really remember everybody he jammed with.
So with that, bring on Bustle in Your Hedgerow, the instrumental Led Zeppelin cover band that has Benevento and Russo in it. How about a Thursday night headliner for them, maybe in the spot that Tea Leaf Green had last year. Or I'm fine with Dark Star Orchestra or Phix for that same spot.

alligators and acid would make for a bad trip...
So, if there was a 'gator moat I can see where you'd find these alligators. But I'm not too sure I know where you think you're gonna find this so called 'acid'? This ain't a chemistry plant we're talkin about
Who else thinks the thought of 50-60 year old men crashing the Bonnaroo gates for Zeppelin is simply ridiculous? It's not 1977. Do you guys really think the majority of people want to stand in a HOT TN field with dust and no showers? Zeppelin will play there and it will be no less crazy than The Police or Radiohead.
The Mirror is the "newspaper" that published fake Abu Ghraib pictures. They're a tabloid. They're about as reliable as The New York Post, so peeps need to calm down a bit.
Tabloids are like the Bush administration. They listen for the truth that sounds the best, publish it and then fact check on the back end.
Yeah, but the Men in Black said......
I just think it's getting a bit out of control. It wouldn't surprise me if Zep played roo but hitting fark? So now the rumor is out in the general public, not just the music crowd. If it turns out to be true Roo will be really interesting this year.

I predict you'll hear more whining and complaining about heat and dirt then ever if Led Zeppelin headlines...
It does not matter if Led Zep or Slim Whitman Play ...The headliners do not make the Fest...There are close to a hundred other acts at Bonnaroo.. personally I dont care who plays. as long as there is a Bonnaroo 08 .. And it goes off without a hitch , without many arrests, no death's and everyone makes it home safe..

i think its fun to speculate, but really if we didn't even have true headliners, i would still go and still have an amazing time.
But...realistically the headliners matter to 'roo and ticket sales..so thats why these rumors drive the offseason.

I dont agree with that 100%..(although i do think it all about the almighty dollar)..But in my opinion..That since the 1st Bonnaroo and to the upcoming one in June . That It (Roo) has built a huge fanbase. Remember 80k people every June go there. I bet if they sold tickets in advance for the next 10 yrs that 40k people would buy them . Even without knowing who is to play any givin year ..I would love a lifetime Pass..I'd pay 20k for one ..
