If zeppelin just plays roo, and thats it. I will be pissed. I know I wont get a ticket. I guess that would mean Allgood would get my financial support.
Not that I'm saying it's a lock-- but it is funny how we're all skeptical when an actual magazine has what could be a scoop, whereas this board as been going bonkers in the past over a stupid Wikipedia update as if i was gospel.
I's say the likelihood just went up several percentage points. The Mirror isn't a tabloid in the traditional U.S. sense of the word (i.e. National Enquirer). That doesn't mean they're gospel, but they're part of one of the largest newspaper companies in Britian. Point being, if they say they have an exclusive that does mean they have something, even if it's not the whole story.
And if you thought that Superfly wouldn't have denied all rumors, true or otherwise, before the lineup was "officially" released, you're fooling yourself. So everyone saying, "But Superfly said no!" has got to stop.
Anyway, again so I'm not flamed: I'm not saying the Mirror is always right-- but this is one of the more credible locations for a pre-Roo reveal (a month out from official reveal) I've seen in years.

How come you guys don't want the foo fighters to play roo. I think they could play a great late night set since the last couple records had a bunch of guests they could invite some people with them. Maybe i'm alone there since I have always liked whatever Dave Grohl has done.
By the way I don't think haveing Pearl Jam on the bill would increase ticket prices as they play pretty large venues when they tour and don't place ticket prices much higher than $35, the Zep factor would be more influential.
Since I'm already rambling if Pearl Jam were to play I don't think the Foo Fighters would be there and vice versa as I think that might be to much of a focus on big 90's rock bands. Either way I would welcome them both. At least we wouldn't be having a late night set with the Spice Girls trying to make their comeback!!!
mabey im out of it, but i recall an article about a week ago that said led zeppelin were headling glastonbury, which is the week after bonnaroo, and that would be the kick off to their 18 month world tour.

No, you're not out of it...you're right
So in order for both "rumors" to be true, Zeppelin plays a show at 'roo....then flys back over the pond and plays Glastonbury which begins their first leg of a tour that will eventually swing back over.
1) Thats how I read and see it playing out
2) Superfly has this locked up and I'm feeling the No Earlybird tickets is more evidence of this
3) LZ has huge momentum in 2008 ..but not 2009... I couldn't imagine the Police headline in '08 if they didn't headline in '07..i think everyone has had their Sting fill.
4) Plant is already going to be at the farm. JPJ was there last year. Its not as if these guys regularly plan their Junes around playing shows in Manchester TN.
5) With LZ and whatever else superfly/ac puts together, this 'roo will sellout faster than any year before and will result in inflated scalper prices.
Advice: By tickets as soon as they go on sale if you plan on going.
Opinion: If 'Roo is the first LZ show for the states, it will make for a landmark concert event. Superfly will still have to lock up other quality acts to balance out the lineup, but as we all know, the headliners drive the sales and pay for clean porta potties while the rest of the line-up is what makes the 'roo.
1) Led Zeppelin has not been confirmed to headline Glastonbury. There were several articles stating that, but the info did not come from the band or the fest, but rather a "source close to the band". Same goes for that 18-month tour that would follow. 2) Ashley Capps' statement regarding the Led Zeppelin/Metallica headlining rumor was that it was "inaccurate" (it's funny because at the time someone else had to point this out to me). Obviously that could mean any number of things, such as that Metallica will not be there (which was confirmed by the band), but the Zeppelin part was true.
Neither of these provide solid evidence for or against these rumors, but at least we're all on the same page! ;D
I live here in TN (about an hour from roo) and last night on the local news they announced that the zeppelin possibilty was being discussed and not ruled out by promoters..hmmmm......

yeah..and I raised this point earlier in the thread...
Rumor announced Metallica and LZ to Headline --> Superfly/AC says 'inaccurate' --> Metallica people say they're definitely Out -->Not one rumor or statement saying LZ is out....hmmm
At this point i feel the silence is more telling then british papers or TN local news....but all signs point to the same thing.

I agree with the above. The no early bird tickets was odd.
From what I've read on here, last year was the only year early bird tickets were sold and the reason may have been to help finance the purchase of the farm. Bonnaroo has sold out every year, so why selll early birds if you can sell out at full price?

Bonnaroo sells out in name only, realistically tickets have been available the day of and it was obvious a couple years did not sellout
I got earlybird tickets last year and from what I remember on the email from superfly it said something about making them available for xmas presents...it said nothing about funding covert operations or farm purchases.
Another sign of LZ or maybe a result of LZ might be the doing away with tier pricing. I have no doubt that they could sell out in 60 days at $260 a pop.

Last year was just an experiment with the early bird tickets, and I didn't read into it too much that they didn't do it this year.
That is, until they changed their reasoning in their emails to people asking about early bird tickets. The first people who asked in November and earlier were basically just told no. But recently some people were told they didn't do early bird because of the "lineup" that has yet to be announced. community.livejournal.com/bonnaroo/272506.html
So, I think there's been some interesting evidence of the big lineup secret being true, and the Mirror (which Rolling Stone also repeated today), as well as Leftwitz's email early on makes for a pretty substantial amount of evidence.

Let me clarify: a substantial amount of evidence for a Roo rumor. It's got everything but a leaked artist website date.
Exalt for that link....man thats huge!
obviously part of me wants to say "anyone can claim they got an email from roo saying whatever"....but again, if true, who else would drive ticket demand as to warrant an email like that..
this is the first time i've seen that response...someone got a little liberal with info in their emails that day.
I'm thinking there are only 3 acts that could drive tickets like that
Led Zeppelin Pink "never happening" Floyd Phish
thats pretty much it...i can't think of another band to add to the list...

If Led Zeppelin does play Bonnaroo this year, I hope to God that it is an unannounced, suprise set, so all of the true Bonnaroo fans are able to get tickets. If this is their first show in America, we're going to have maybe millions of people trying to get tickets. Tickets will end up selling out in less than 5 minutes. And God forbid they have some kind of lottery or pool like they did for the 02 show in London, where your chance for a ticket is based solely upon luck. If they get announced to play before tickets go on sale, it would be complete chaos once they did go onsale. Tickets will be going for thousands of dollars on ebay, and in my opinion, this will prove what exactly is wrong with the music industry today and the direction it's heading. It's a scary thought. But I'm not sure that a suprise show would work. I'm not sure how you could leave a spot on the schedule open without everyone knowing it's Led Zeppelin. If that happened, c'mon, we'd all realize it was Led Zeppelin. We don't really know what's gonna happen but at least a month from now we should. And I've heard tickets might not go onsale until March, which makes me think that Led Zeppelin very well could be playing, they're just not sure how to go about selling the tickets. I'd like to think that Bonnaroo doesn't want to do anything that may jeopardize its reputation and not seem like sellouts to the longtime fans. But this is a business, and the business side of things usually sucks. Either way, Bonnaroo will sell out. It always does. So I don't think AC and Superfly are worried about selling all the tickets. They shouldn't be. And I hope they don't increase capacity. I've heard a couple different figures from last year's capacity, I've heard 80,000 and I've heard 90,000. Maybe they'll go up to 100,000. Whatever happens, I really hope it is put together well and organized so they are plenty of tickets for the longtime Bonnaroo fans. But this is life, and it's not fair...
yeah. im busting my hump for the next month to save money and taking a sick day off the day tickets come out. while my phone will let me browse the internet it wont let me order tickets. so im just waiting for that day ... shessh. its gonna be a mad house that day. coachella sold out in what 3 weeks last year? and it was only rage? i cant find any decent priced hotel rooms in manchester on that wensday night ... due to a rumor. yeah. id start putting your money together. pronto.

thing is rumor or not, you would have trouble finding a room in manchester.. just how it is for roo
I hate to be a pessimist, but this is exactly why I don't want Zep to be there. If they do play, thousands of loyal roo people( addmitedly I've never been to bonnaroo but at least I care enough to register and post on the board) willl get screwed out of their tickets. It would be a huge clusterfuck leaving many folks very upset.

An overnight drive is the best hotel in Manchester
Last year, we all forgot about the hour time change (D'oh!) and we spent an extra hour at that giganto fireworks shop blasting some MMJ as the sun rose... what an epic feeling that was
they should just go ahead and put tickets on sale before the line-up is announced so that people who've been going to bonnaroo for years will still have a chance to go led zeppelin or not... and its still bonnaroo i mean if led zep does play they're def going on tour and i think some people will wait to see them somewhere else instead of roo.... we can only hope this all works out well and i have a strong feeling it will......

This post just made me feel fear for my bonnaroo tickets
When you buy Bonnaroo tix online you have to register, and it keeps a tally of past purchases, SOOOOOO....
IF Superfly wanted to insure people who've attended roo in the past would be able to purchase tickets this year....they could give previous attendees priority. Now how many people are registered is another matter, but I think this might work. Again, that is, IF they wanted to do something like that....
agreed. hotels have never been easy to find for that night. but it was still insane looking at it selling out so fast. and im sure that it didnt 100% sell out either.they are holding rooms for last minute. it will work out. i ended up getting a room outside of nashville for like $40, which works out good. my sweetheart and i are comming from chicago that weekend (from a cubs game if they play wrigley that week.) karma for the well wishes.
The Mirror is the "newspaper" that published fake Abu Ghraib pictures. They're a tabloid. They're about as reliable as The New York Post, so peeps need to calm down a bit.
Tabloids are like the Bush administration. They listen for the truth that sounds the best, publish it and then fact check on the back end.
