Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
This is my 3rd roo. I'm think I'm more excited this year than I was last year.
Although bonnaroo has moved away from their jamband staple, I think the addition of Radiohead and Oysterhead could make this one the headiest of all time, despite the presence of bands such as Death Cab for Brown Eye (and lack of Warren). If only we had Buckethead...
Who agrees? Disagrees? Feel free to slam me for making fun of the emo bands...

the only Deathcab music I have heard is very slow and whiney, I don't see how this can translate into a good live show.
One of the best shows I have ever seen was Kings of Conveince. 2 guys, aucostic guitars with mikes set up on them. Just because music is quiet doesnt mean anything. Unless you wanna dance. But then again one of them did get off the stage and dance around for a few songs while the other one played.

I'll take Bright Eyes over buckethead anyday.
Wow I really hope you're kidding. I have nothing against Bright Eyes(I actually like some of Conor's stuff) but to take him over buckethead is just wrong.Buckethead will melt your face and send you spinning.

Yeah i wasn't trying to compare the two either. They both represent two completely different types of musical genres. I was also just saying which I prefer. Asshat hmmmmm.....i'm going to have to start using that term more often.

Comparing Buckethead to Bright eyes is like comparing Raw Steak to Soy Milk, thank the Emo god's for putting Oysterhead against Deathcab, "nothing makes you feel more like a wus then coming on after queens of the ston age," direct quote from lead singer of Brighteyes, these are the fans that beat up limp bizcuit fans, what i didn't even known there were still limp fans around, i see rain, lots of rain at the headest roo ever, it sure as hell beats the blistering sun, please everyone camp out really early for radio head i am talking 12 so then by the time the come on people will be really tired and i'll for sure get a good spot, radio head is going to be awesome and i don't even listen to them, yet i know, God save the Thome, Thom or Tom ah funk it
well i for one am hoping a lot of people jet after radiohead. they might have to stay for matisyahu though. it is saddening to me that so many people are so exciteed about bright eyes, deathcab, matisyahu, and radiohead. and then they ask "who is phil lesh"(something i never thought id hear form a rooer) "i dont know who oysterhead is but im not missing deatchcab!" and "the late nights are all disappointing. mmj is ok but the rest of the latenight is not interesting to me" " it just makes me sad. at least this new mainstream lineup hasnt brought in a new type of fan to roo.
and comparing buckethead to bright eyes is like comparing michael jordans career to me beating my son in horse. antoher example of an unexpected and saddening quote about the state of the roo scene.
imo. no offense to anyone. your all welcome. its just a bit of a system shock for a roo veteran to be hearing such unholy things from the roo newbies being brought in by the new lineup. i hope they quickly discover the etiquitte(sp?) of the festival communtiy and adjust to it well. it has worked so well for so long. i hope half of the people are not bringin their bright eyes deathcab college tour ettiquite(sp?) with them to roo.

dudehwheresmyroo,
this will be my 4th roo, and I remember how nice and friendly and welcoming all the old deadheads were when I showed up on the scene as a festival newbie and a bias toward the new bands. as you've surely noticed, there are fewer and fewer deadheads every year, which means that its our job as veterans to lead the way. the new lineup guarantees that this bonaroo is going to be different than the last. if you spend all your time lamenting about how much better it used to be, you're going to bum me out. i'm feeling some negative energy from you, so turn it around my friend! look for me at Death Cab and Bela Fleck -- i'll be the one in the middle of both shows having a great time.
no its truly just an opinon on how things are changing. i guess i feel kinda negative about it but when im at roo any of that will be far from my mind. i will be having the time of my life once again. no worries at roo for sure. dosent mean that it isnt kinda sadening to see an old friend being changed into something different then what i have grown to love. heres hoping the vibe/community stays the same even if some of the music and visitors are different from years past. just hoping it dosent ruin anything.
p.s. dont miss oysterhead man!!! youll regret it someday! you can see dcfc anytime!

I happen to listen to Dr. John, Death Cab, the Grateful Dead, Bright Eyes, Phish, The Streets, Blind Faith, Radiohead, Frank Zappa, moe., and Clap Your Hands Say Yeah. I like Buckethead. I like Ween. I like Government Mule. I like Ben Folds. I like Primus. I like Wilco. I like She Wants Revenge. I like Common. I like Nickel Creek. I like Umphrey's Magee. I like Bloc Party and Elvis Costello and Joy Division and Robert Randolph and the Family Band and the New Pornographers. In fact, I like tons and tons of music.
What am I? I'm a music lover. Not a hippie. Not emo. Not punk. Not straight edge. Not indie. And I would venture to guess, no, I know for a fact that a good number of the people on this board are JUST like me. I see posts about John Scofield or The Bad Plus and posts about Sufjan Stevens or The Decemberists. I like this board because the people here seemed to have picked an identity. We're all music lovers.
Everyone else everywhere else seems to feel such a need to pigeonhole one another. It's so frustrating. More than that...it's absurd. Embrace the diversity. That's what Bonnaroo is all about. But we've said this all before. I'm just saying... peace, love, rock and roll, whatever...
God bless Inforoo the way it is...let's keep it that way.
you guys know hes just trying to start shit right?
yes, blah blah im just giving my opinions, blah blah blah blah, i dont belive for a minute that your not just sitting at home laughing your ass off everytime you have this conversation. If you just wanted to state your opinions then WE KNOW, you've stated them plenty of times, we get it. I neither agree nor disagree with anything you said, but come on, you know your just trying to start shit. And ya its somewhat amusing, i'll give it a C+
I am a Roo vet and a music lover. Roo is five years old. Period. People come for all sorts of reasons. Thankfully, not everyone is alike, even if that means not everyone is a cranky Deadhead waving their fists at the young whippersnappers or shoegazers uncertain about rareified Tennessee air. Roo is about vibe, about good- no, GREAT music and musicians that ALL deserve respect. I seriously hope we can control ourselves on this board to stop making people feel unwelcome, stop judging and just spread good vibes.
And the only thing that pisses me off is people taking ownership of Roo and crying about people unlike themselves. That's the most unRoo thing I can possibly imagine.
Roo is great BECAUSE of the diversity, not despite it.

You know what, people like dudewheresmyroo crack me up. Im not a bg Matisyahu fan but i have a friend who is. He also listens the The Gratefule Dead a shit ton, way more than me. But I love how people hate on Matisyahu because he is on mtv. He had a hell of a performance last year and everyone raved about it but now that he is on mtv he is not cool. You are just ignorant if you think he isnt good now cause he is on mtv. I mean shit, dont get mad at the guy because he became popular because of sets like the one at Roo last year. Hating on people liking him is one of the most stupid, ignorant, dumb, naive, and retarded statements someone could make. I mean is someone cool until they make it big. Shit, would your beloved Umphreys, MMW, Disco, and some others be not cool if they suddenly became popular because they make good music.. Just don't make ignorant statements about the peopel who like Matisyahu. Should bands be afraid to play Bonnaroo because they'll make it big and become uncool all of a sudden. Dudewheresmyroo, you are as bad as some indier than thou people I know.
Why all the hating on certain bands?...if you don't like those bands...then don't go and see them...no one is forcing you to go see Death Cab or Bright Eyes, just as no one is forcing me to see Umphrey's McGee or Disco Biscuits. People need to stop complaining, i mean jesus christ we're only a few weeks away and ppl are still bitching about the lineup. Get over it!

i suppose you dont know who phil lesh is. you dont know who oysterhead is and you think bright eyes is better then buckethead. im just responding with my thoughts on what others have said.
oh ya and matisyahu is no better then vanilla ice or snow. just a gimmick that garners attention at first. eventually everyone will come to their senses and put marley back in. matis is just a rip off with a giimmick. there are dozens of great reggae artists out there and we get stuck with matisyafool 2 years in a row. i cant believe people are still raving over this clown. especially superfly.
