I was using face wash for a couple weeks that had acne medicine in it. My skin started getting really dry so i stopped using it. Well... now my checks are all red, blotchy and peely!! Where my skin peels is raw and hurts. I have stopped wearing make-up and have been slathering on mosituriser hoping it will help but all its done is made my not irritated skin break out.
I would be so so so so thankful for anyone who has an idea to make it better.
Love you all and I am so glad a thread like this exists.
(Note: I used to work for years in a wholesale beauty supply environment - so I know a lot about beauty products/shampoo/hair dye/etc...)
Anyway - it does the EXACT same thing to my face when I use it. Just put some 100% Aloe gel on your face until it heals - you have a chemical burn essentially right now and we all know Aloe is great for a mild burn. (NOTHING else - because it WILL clog your pores and cause breakouts while it's trying to heal)
I now use Aubrey Organics as my face routine and my skin is SO much clearer and happy. I also take a Hair, Skin, and Nails vitamin with a LOT of Biotin in it which has helped with my acne immensely. I use Tea Tree Oil on any blemish I get for a few days and it goes away pretty quick.
There's the link to Aubry's skin care page, BTW. They have the BEST products I've ever tried! My skin loves me so much more since I went to their face stuff.
All those Acne meds with Salicylic acid or whatever do is dry out the skin around the zit do it crusts over and flakes off - it doesn't really prevent acne - it just keeps your skin so dry and removes the top layer so pores open up and the washing of your face before you put on the product cleans them out.
Also, it takes 6 WEEKS before your skin adjusts to any new beauty routine. You WILL break out during the 6 weeks as your body adjusts. They say whenever you start a new face routine to not evaluate it until after 6 weeks to see how your skin will truly react. So ditch the harsh chemicals, try something better for your skin, and wait it out for 6 to 8 weeks to see how your skin reacts.

I don't know if we've talked about this on here... I think it was discussed on the sex thread. But have any of you ladies done DIY bikini waxes? I really prefer waxing to shaving but I haven't gotten brave enough to wax "down there" myself. I've gotten waxes at the salon and its not too bad, and I don't really have a problem waxing my own legs. But there's just something really masochistic about waxing your own vajayjay... thoughts?
I have only gotten waxed once and it was at the salon. it wasnt really my cup of tea. i have zero problems shaving so i got lucky. my sister gets waxed and doesnt mind it but she tried it herself once and it was BAD, as in skin being ripped off, etc. she never tried it again.
My friend recently got a volumizer spray from Umberto I think... at target. It was on clearance and out at one location I went to, but tons at another. She says it's the first volumizer she has used that really works.
I love this amplifier from pureology that works with a hair dryer; it's a liquid. However it's costly as heck and not worth it if you don't have dyed hair.

Good Morning everybody. I have posted two or three small replies on the girly thread but this will be my first big post.
I have a big skin issue and i need some help.

Try Aquaphor. My friend uses it on her face when it's unhappy and I've been using it on my face a couple nights a weeks and my skin is very happy when I wake up. It seals out outside air and so your skin can just do it's thing.
Once your skin is happy again, use acne treatments in moderation. A lot of times you have to slowly let your skin get used to it - use them just a couple times a week at first and only one type at a time (like not a Proactiv 3-step process).
Or maybe your skin is breaking out because it's dry and sensitive and not because it's oily.

I missed less then 24hrs on here and there are so many posts I couldn't get to read them all!
I NEED to recommend a hair product to you all because I literally swear by it. Since my hair is damaged by all the hair dye I have used, plus blow drying and and curling irons, I needed to find a product that would bring back elasticity and shine to my hair. I use this product called Fantasia IC hair serum, they have many to choose from and I personally own all of them (plus I just purchased the shampoo and conditioner just b/c I love the products so much!) The site is www.fantasiahaircare.com/HairPolisher.html and the products can be purchase at pretty much any store; Target, Walmart, Bed Bath and Beyond (beauty dept), CVS, Walgreens, etc. This stuff made my hair which at one point was so unhealthy it would just rip off when I ran my hand through it when wet, turn so smooth, strong and healthy! ((lol I even wrote to them telling them how amazing their product was..I'm such a dork))
Also on the subject of shopping and closest space. I am a shop-a-holic. I'm the type of person who "has" to buy a new item of clothing if I have somewhere to go. So I have A LOT of clothes and this past summer we did a renovation in my house, where we knocked down the door frames of mine and my brothers old room so my room would be larger. My brothers old room is now my closet/vanity area, but yet I seem to still not have room. I don't think there will ever be enough closet space Plus I have the worst habit of changing clothes atleast 3 times a day and just throwing the stuff I wore or tried on, on the floor...which eventually leads to how my room looks right now...A MESS!

I'm going to try that. My hair is fucked 'cause at one point i'd dyed the majority of it pink, blue, green, and purple, at once.
Okay, so the wife of a friend of a friend turned their extra bedroom into her closet. It's awesome. There is a twin sized bed in there that they can use as a guest bed when necessary, but mostly it's just used as a couch. The walls are painted hot pink with a bunch of Frieda Khalo posters/prints that she adores but her husband isn't so fond of. She has a dressing table in there, a full length mirror, room to keep the ironing board out all the time. A rack on one of the walls to hang jewelry off of - and to find easily And took the doors off the closets so she can quickly see all of her clothes.

Aww fun, I want to post a picture of my closet/room when it's clean. I'm pretty proud of it because I put all the shelves and everything up myself. That'll be motivation to finally clean lol

my closet is definitely too small for all my clothes, but i also have 2 stackable plastic drawers from my days as a camp counselor, as well as a nice dresser that used to be my grandmother's.
however, my room is the place that i allow to look however i want...and that's usually messy. cleaning my room means throwing all the clothes on the floor into the walk-in and shutting the door. haha.

How does a product like that even make it on to shelves? How does that board meeting go at corporate? "We'd like to suggest this new mouthwash product." "Okayy...does it clean your mouth better than other kinds?" "Nope, it doesn't clean it at all! Actually it leaves brown spots on your teeth and may ruin your sense of taste!" "...AWESOME, how fast can we produce this?!"
hey girls.. i finally registered since i finally have something i can contribute! haha
anyway, i'm kate and i'm finishing up pharmacy school.. about crest.. it's only the pro-health that has 'stannous fluoride'
it's actually a special type of fluoride that helps to coat your teeth and prevents cavities (more so than other types of fluoride) but extreme use can cause some brown/yellowing of the teeth.. it's a great product, but the side effect isn't so fabulous
neverless, check your toothpaste, if it's not pro-health, it's probably sodium fluoride and thus, should have no problems =)
