So this isn't Roo related, but definitely girly. Have any of you tried Bare Minerals makeup? I need a new foundation, and I'm thinking about that. I have somewhat dry skin, with redness in my cheeks and a little bit of acne scarring on my chin to cover up. The foundation I use now covers it really well at first, but wears off by the end of the day. Not going to fly on my wedding day in less than a month! Does anyone suggest Bare Minerals for long lasting coverage? Or any other miracle foundation for that matter? With so many GFT ladies, I know at least one of you will be an expert. Thanks ladies!

Yep I use Bare Minerals and love it. I will never use a liquid foundation again. It covers up redness very well (I tend to have a lot of it), and is just really easy to put on. It also feels really light. It stays on all day until I wash it off. It is not however heavy coverage and I did not use it on my wedding day. I think my make up artist used MAC foundation of some kind.
It is however a little messy and I always have a dusting of it on my sink......Drives my hubby nuts
Clairity, I have used the Bare Minerals before. It does offer good coverage, I will give it that much. However, it broke me out something awful. I had to stop using it. But if you're only going to use it for a day, it would probably be okay. (The break-outs I experienced didn't start until a few weeks into use.)
Thanks for the great feedback ladies! I think I might drop by the Clinique counter and talk to them before I decide. I'm used to Clinique, and I hate switching to something I don't know much about. Ah! It's so silly being so stressed about something like makeup.
I used Bare Mineral and didn't like it at all. It just felt really heavy on my skin. My mom uses it though and LOVES it. She won't wear anything else now.
I don't use foundation anymore because it is just too damn hot in Louisiana and I always sweat it off just walking to the car. When I do use foundation I like Mabelline Dream Matte Mousse because it covers well and feels really light on the skin.
Reminder to Mayo....post the strange GFT pin pic, I am curious to see it it is someone on the thread
The coverage is really sheer and light but it stays on well throughout the day even in hot/sticky weather. I just use a tiny bit of MAC Studio Fix for any areas that need a little extra coverage.
Anyway, serious fan of the stuff, highly recommend! You're gonna look lovely on your wedding day

I havent forgotten! I just keep getting distracted when I get home from work. I look at this stupid laptop all day and so when I get home, sometimes the last thing I want to do is sit at my computer. But i SWEAR I will get it done soon!

I have not opened my personal laptop more than 10 times since I got my Droid and Audrey was born. I am on the computer so much at work and on my phone I seriously don't even know why I still have a laptop.
Back to Girly Fashion! I need a pair of Toms! I don't know what size to get though and the only place here that sells them only has Men's.
Jenkazoo, women's sizes are typically two sizes smaller than men's. So, you wear a women's size 8, you'd wear a men's size 6. I'm not sure if Toms are considered unisex or not. We carry some at certain Journeys stores (not online though), but it seems they are all in mens sizes.
i use bare minerals and i love it. the trick is to use much less than you think you need. much much less or its dry and cakey. i think it looks even better when you sweat....i know thats weird but ive worn it when i got in a quick shower (didnt wash my hair) and it looked better after the shower than before. i hated to wash it off and redo it. i recently started using wet and wild mineral foundation. i like it better than bare minerals and its like 5 bucks. i think you need to experiment wtih minerals before your wedding day as it does take a little bit to master. once you get it tis FAST and it covers very well and it lasts well. its also very easy to touch up.
oh on this note. i know a guy who sells cars in the tennessee heat. he tends to have some redness to his skin. he uses bare minerals and NO ONE can see it on his skin even in the daylight sun. it has sunscreen and he agrees that it looks fine if he does sweat or get wet. he uses a thin thin layer of minerals and then a think layer of the mineral veil. lasts all day
im adding this comment because i would think that BM would be especially good for a wedding as you could be dancing, sweating, or you could get wet at some point. you dotn want to streak or look cakey and BM is reallygood for that. just use as little as possible...you shouldnt even be able to see the stuff on the brush when you put it on.

While we're talking makeup, I've been meaning to ask you girls a question.
Any suggestions for something that could even out my skin tone a bit WITHOUT covering my freckles? I usually don't wear any makeup but I would like to have something I could use for special occasions...but I love my freckles and refuse to cover them up! Any ideas?
hey pepper i met you at the brunch. we have a about the same skin tone. i know ive said it to exhaust....but im into the wet and wild intuitive blend. its a tinted moisturizer that adjusts to your shade. it goes on white but it adjusts really fast. you just need a bit and its really smooth. you might want to try it. shake it first. then just swirl in the foundation til it adjusts.

Oooh, I might give that a try, thanks! I actually thought of you when I posted my question because I thought I remembered that we had similar coloring...and I figured you'd know what would work well with freckles!

and if anyone is wondering....estee lauder makes a makeup that covers freckles and is waterproof. its called camoflauge maximum coverage makeup and it comes in a tube. it is waterproof. ive tried it in a pool and it stays on til you rub it off but thats pretty good. it will easily cover freckles bruises etc. its easier to put on than dermablend and that crap.just in case anyone ever has to cover anything up....that crap really works
clarity-----ok so i say yuck on the bare minerals. i think clinique is a good place for you to look. i worked for them for a couple of years at nordstrom and they have a good range of foundations, from really light to fairly heavy. bare minerals says that you use the same powder for base and concealer??? not for me! haha the point of concealer is to be heavier, not just put more on. your base should never be able to be used as a concealer as well...too cakey.
plasticpepper---i would try bobbi brown's tinted moisturizer. it is a little more pricey than a dr ug store brand but it has a sunscreen in it and someone will be able to match you up perfectly (which is super important when it comes to your "base"....other stuff you'll be ok getting at walgreen's etc.). you can find it at nordstom, macy's, bloomingdale's, saks, neiman marcus etc.....a tube will last you a good three+ months.

Thanks for all the makeup suggestions, ladies. I went to clinique last night and got a new foundation that I love, and the freakin awesomest concealer ever! I should be good to go for the big day this Sat. Thanks for all your help, and I promise to share pics.
On my trip to Target this weekend, I discovered they have started carrying E.L.F. makeup and accessories. I got a pack of 4 different eye shadows plus a brush for $5. Woo hoo!
Yeah. The hoops were really fun and really helped get everybody out on the dance floor. Here's another album from my hoop facebook with all the hooping photos. Great times!
