<3 I love you all! ;D
And a heads up......Wet Seal's dresses are all buy one get one half off. I'm so tempted to get some of these even though more dresses are like the last thing I need right now: www.wetseal.com/catalog/product.jsp?categoryId=104&subCategoryId=189&productId=20113 Unfortunately the one I like the best isn't available in my size. They've got some other cute dresses too so I thought I'd let you all know about the sale!
^^ I got that dress last year, in the turquoise color, and I wear it ALL THE TIME! I took it to Roo but never wore it (because I also brought 10 bazillion other dresses) but it's a great dress for anytime, too!
Hey all, first-timer here. I was wondering if it would be reasonable to bring enough clothing for maybe 2 outfits per day? I don't want to bring too much stuff with me, but figured I wouldn't want to wear the same sweaty thing all day either.
Yeah that is a good idea but I wanted to add that you should have outfits varying in degree of warmth & coolness b/c even with forecast the weather @ Roo can be unpredictable....and also make sure you have rain gear and back up in case you do get soaked

Welcome, naddy! I definitely second what jenkazoo said about planning for the weather. Tennessee nights are COLD! If you're bringing two outfits a day, maybe think of it as a day outfit and a night outfit. Plan on taking a break at some point in the evening to go change, maybe eat something at your tent, etc. and then you can have a warmer outfit for the late night shows.
As far as wearing sweaty gross clothes all day...in my experience, when you're not really showering anyway, it's not a big deal. I brought a ton of clothes with me thinking I would want to change so my clothes could be clean and dry, but as it turns out when I'm sweaty and disgusting and dirty, clean clothes aren't really going to make a difference. Of course it didn't help that I was on my period last time and couldn't full-out jump in the fountain like I wanted to!
^I feel ya on the "who cares if I change" front! I never changed outfits at night. I would just throw a hoodie in my backpack and I ended wearing them every night. One night I think I may have thrown on some track pants too.
I never got hot enough to jump in the fountain last year but if the temps are as high in the day as they are projecting I may live in the mushroom in between sets. I found an extra cold water mister when I was cleaning that will get some Roo use!

Oh god, I was DYING to jump in the fountain in 07. It would have been fun anyway, but add to that the heat and all the sweat and dirt that I would have liked to rinse off...it was killing me that I couldn't jump in! I kinda went in a little bit but couldn't full-out go in. The guys in my group did on the first day, and then when they came out all soaked and drippy they came over arms spread wide threatening to hug me and I just gave one of them a HUGE hug so I could share in the cold water...haha.

Your stuff and you are going to be gross no matter what. After the first day you won't even notice it, it becomes part of what Roo is all about.
I usually wear a strappy dress during the day and then will either add a hoodie for the night time if it's a long dress, or totally change into something a little warmer. I take jeans, long sleeved tee-shirts and hoodies usually.

I'm definitely starting to freak out now that I think I'm going. I'm like "AUGHHH I CAN'T GET READY FOR ROO IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS!" You'd think I hadn't been around here for two years talking about this stuff!
If I can do it in time, I think I might find some cute colorful footless tights or something similar; that way I can cram them into my bag and be able to pull them on under a dress or skirt when it starts to cool down and not have to go back to the tent to change. I have a pair of purple footless tights but if that's my plan I'll need to get more. I need more dresses too, I have one definite and another that I could wear although it's a knit instead of a cotton weave so I'm a little unsure. AHHHHHHH. Okay, self, breathe - I can do this!

I have SOOOO much to do this week I'm really dreading it lol. I still haven't gotten all of my outfits squared away for roo, and that's a must. I also need some cute bandanas.. I'm not really a hat person. They have cute prints @ walmart for $1 a piece!

I'm sure we've talked about this seven thousand times over the course of this thread, but what are you girls doing as far as a bag or anything to carry?
I really wish I could not carry anything because I hate having a bag with me when I want to dance around like crazy in the front row of a show, but I'm going to need some stuff. If I'm wearing sundresses then I probably won't even have pockets, and I need phone/money/schedule/water/etc. Last time I just had a purse of some sort, but I'm wondering if I should get a Camelbak this year. Would keep my hands free more plus since they're fairly flat and close to your back it wouldn't be TOO in the way in the front rows. Any other ideas?

I'm going to have my small backpack, which my boyfriend might take it over instead, but I also have a leg pocket to put my money & lip balm in since I'll be wearing dresses the whole time.
And this is slightly OT, but how the hell did I get a head cold?! I was fine on Friday, drank some rum & dr.pepper that night and Saturday my face was sweating and my body was freezing. Today, my face is still hot and I'm sneezing and my ears and throat are bothering me. What the hell, universe?!

That's what I do and it's great! They barely take up any room, and when I start getting cold, I just sit down and put them on. It makes a huge difference.
plasticpepper, I have a camelpak and I really like it. It has lots of pockets for all of your stuff, and it eliminates the need to carry water bottles into centeroo. I carried the camelpak with me at night, too, but this year I'm bringing a crossbody style purse that I might switch back to at night. I guess it just depends on how I'm feeling that day

Hmmmm, I could bring a Camelbak...or I could just bring you...haha. I think I'm going to look at Target and see what they have that might work....I was hoping they sold camelbaks but I guess they don't....but their website has a few other "hydration packs" that could work....although some of them look a bit big for what I had in mind.
Speaking of sundresses w/out pockets...I went to TJMaxx today and they had the most wonderful tie dye dress w/pockets - I already have the dresses I need, but it would be perfect for 'roo. They also had a ton of other dresses, better than Target's selection this year, imo.
Target does have some nice sling bags though that are big enough to slip even a blanket for sitting on in.

^^ going to tj maxx tomorrow! my sis in law just came home with a super fun dress and said they have tonsssss.
i used a camelpak last year and it was great. your back does kind of get sweaty though, and you can get some funky tan lines...but having constant water is amazing. we froze water bottles last year and when we were filling our paks before leaving for the day, we would cut a frozen water bottle out of its plastic, drop it in the bladder, then fill up with water around it. it kept it cold all day! you can buy different styles that have more room or less, depending on what you want. they make special ones for girls, too. check dick's out...they have a lot. this year i am bringing my favorite sling bag and my camelpak, and will play it by ear which i will use and when.
ps - you girls are stronger than me...once that fountain water starts turning brown, the fountain is the last thing i want to be in...

My goal this week is to get out and about and pick up a few more dresses, and attempt to find bodyglide at the local Academy Sports. If not, I guess I'll go with the monistat. I really don't feel like wearing shorts underneath my dresses!
Oh, and the boyfriend will be handling the backpack lol. Last year I had a moment, and totally just went for the water @ the fountain and soaked our backpack, so he forbids me from holding it. Which is great for me and no backpack tanlines lol!
I've seen girls carry purses at roo, but I would HATE that! Just in general having a purse over my shoulder usually bugs me after a while, so I can't imagine doing it all day at roo. A camelpak or a backpack would be much more comfortable imo

Haha lucky you with a boyfriend to carry the stuff! In 07 I was there with one other girl and two guys and of course as the girl with the bag, I got to carry the guys' stuff!
I think I might need to hit up TJ Maxx too...blah. I have a gift card to Target and some store credit at Bonton so it'd be cool if I could get some stuff done there, but I don't know how likely that is since Target's cute dress selection is a little lacking this year, it seems. Hmmmmm.
I'm not sure if any one has mentioned Walmart yet, but they have a bunch of dresses there for $10. The one I got is really cute, just ten bucks and it has pockets. And I also got a pair of cotton tye-dye shorts for just $5
I'm gonna have to check out TJ Maxx, I may also go by Steinmart, they usually have some cute things for cheap.
As for the bag question, I always carry a cross body bag, but I have serious OCD when it comes to my "stuff" so I have to be able to check on my "stuff" constantly and can't bear to leave it with anyone else. The boy has given up on carrying my things, the whole time he has anything of mine, I constantly reach down a hit his pockets or ask if he still has whatever it is I asked him to carry. So, yeah, if I want to bring anything with me, I have to carry it myself.
I have been to Wal-mart twice in the past few weeks and have seen very few dresses. Maybe the one I've been going to is picked over? (I don't shop at Wal-mart unless I *have* to but that's another story) I'm pretty stocked up on Roo dresses anyway
I think I said this a few pages back, but Ross had an excellent dress selection the last time I was there!

I'm really glad I am not alone in this. I could never let anyone else be in control of my stuff. I am the person who carries the tickets, the money, the maps, the camera, etc. etc. I know I would never ever lose anything so I feel like the only one responsible enough.... lol. I know this is probably not true but it makes me feel better. I guess I am somewhat of a control freak, but in a quiet, subtle way......
