I spent over $1000.00 on going to Bonnaroo this year and didnt even get a shower.. I was wondering what is it really like in V.I.P ? I dont have an RV so is it worth doing in a tent? is there food? shower? whats the vibe? rich folk? please give me a real heads up on VIP as if I am going to spend so much going I may as well be able to wash my ass.

Holy cow the VIP experience was completely unique. We have been every single year, this was our first in VIP and we will never go back. There are showers - I myself don't mind being stinky, so I didn't bother, but my wife showered every day but Sunday. The longest wait she had was about 20 minutes - said the facilities were nice. There are some porto-poties - and then there were some nicer bathroom facilities that had A/C and sinks with mirrors, etc. Our camping spot (no RV here) was awesome - I sat there for all of Petty's set and heard it all perfectly. The atmosphere was very laid back and relaxed, our neighbors were cool and just regular folks - I don't think they were rich - we're not. Since we were close we didn't have to walk alot so we didn't expend a lot of energy - thus we were able to stay up later. There was a hospitality tent with a buffet that went from noonish until 9 or 10 - same food all day long. Thursday night the drinks were free too - otherwise it was $1.50 for pop or water - not sure how much beer was. Now, the best part for me was the total and complete lack of hassle getting into the venue. We waltzed past security at the back of the what stage - never asked to look in our bags or even looked twice at us. From there we had easy access to centeroo with no wait at all. Check in on thursday was easy (we got there at about 9am) - but it did take us a little while to finally get in the campground due to traffic back-up. I'd say we had our tent up by 11 or 12. Sorry for the ramble, but yeah, I would totally pay the extra again it is worth it.
Man, I've been to the Festival every year, and this was my first time VIP. I had a f*cking blast. I had so much energy from not having to walk very far to any show. I was in an RV so I was able to go to bed late, and wake up early enough for the first few shows. The bleachers helped in the hot part of the day when I just wanted to sit. Having a campsite that was directly outside the mainstage was perfect. I was able to catch the majority of the main stage stuff, either up close or from my site. Everything was so loud at my site, and I could see the screens, so I didn't miss a thing. There was minimal security. I was able to walk through Centeroo and the Main Stage on thursday before anyone else. IT was clean, much cleaner than any other camp. The showers were warm, not hot, but felt great none-the-less. The Food was decent. I'm not gonna rave about the food b/c I made better food at my site, but we ate lunch there every day and it was definitely nice to just go get that instead of having to pay or make something. Plus they have AC in the tent with the food. A comedian and Rebirth Brass did the VIP show. I was able to catch 40 bands this year, b/c I could leave my site and be at any given stage in 5 minutes time. And then I could go back, get a beer, catch some rest, watch the main stage, and then head off shortly again. IT was great. I will be going VIP for the years to come.
So -- this lack of security getting into Centeroo -- just how lacking was it?
I mean, could you bring in more than a few beers with you? I did my best to avoid Centeroo beers, but I'm certain I dropped at least a hundred on beer again and like I said, I was actually making an effort not to this year. That alone would sell me on VIP...

We entered the venue several times each day and either had a backpack or a large bag each and every time and not one single time did I or my wife have to open them up. I've also heard people mention being briefly 'frisked' - non of that happened either. I could have easily brought in a 6 pack with no worries.
Yeah, the security at the hospitality tent was just there to make sure you were VIP when entering the tent. They didn't care about anything else. I didn't see many people taking advantage of it, though, like taking coolers into the venue, but I think that was because it was just easier to walk back to your campsite and get one rather than haul a cooler.
I'm so sad I didn't get to meet you!! I looked for ya in the crowd periodically. I'm glad you had an aweome Roo, too! Maybe I'll see ya at a DMB concert this summer.

I know, i was looking for all of you guys alot, but it was really hard to come find everyone . im sad i didnt make the meetup, but what can ya do...
VIP was fantastic. One famous time for me I took in a six pack of beer, a flask and other items in a giant bag.

VIP rocked........clean bathrooms constantly, always had toilet paper, the food was good, not great but good, beers $3 a pop(even for 420 and Sierra Nevada), soda and water $1.50, a/c, close to the main stage, snacks out all day(chips, brownies), and no one hassled you about anything
*Someone gave our friends VIP armbands so we got to use the amenities but we stayed in Handicapped Accessible....we will think about it next year though
