Hi guys, I've been lurking on these forums for a while to get a feel of what Bonnaroo is going to be like, what to bring, ect.. But now that it's coming up soon I'm just wondering if me and my friend are going to be cool there. We're supposed to have a bigger group, but my gut insticnt tells me they're going to bail on me the week before. This is fine with me, my other friend who already got his ticket said he would take his car up there (we're supposed to ride with the people who haven't bought their tickets yet). But one of the members of the group has already been before and I was hoping to have her guide us around. In the event they don't come, will me and my friend be fine at Bonnaroo? We both enjoy good music, good times, good "things" and such. I just don't want to get up their and get lost and confused and have a bad time. Any comments are appreciated. Thanks!
the only truly confusing part is the stage names. this, that, the other, which and what. They do this to intentionally screw with us though.
Which Stage is Oysterhead playing on? the What Stage. Which stage is the What Stage ?
Where is That tent? It's this tent right here. This tent right here? This Tent IS That Tent.
thoroughly confusing. They started that in 03 (in 02 they were called the grassy knoll, the dust bowl, the side stage and the main stage). Took me 2 full festivals to figure out which stages were where and what they were called.
The rest comes pretty naturally. If you've ever been camping before, it's alot like camping, with an endless supply of music and hippies. Bring everything you can think of. You'll probably need it.
I'm planning on bringing about 300 dollars or so.. and I plan on eating at bonnaroo.. Will that be enough for the "activities" too? I'm bringing a 7 man tent, lots of bug spray, camel bak, first aid kit, water.. what other kinds of supplies should I invest in?
If my other friends end up coming, we're going to take 2 cars, a Suburban and a Land Rover, will we be able to have camp spots next to each other? We kinda wanted to tie a tarp to the Land Rover and the Suburban and make a little shade area there.
Get familiar with the map. They will give you one when you get in there, but you'll be so psyched that you won't sit down and read it. It probably won't be much different than last year. I think I saw someone had a link for it on this site. The venue is so enormous, knowing where you are, where you are going next, and where the nearest potties are is a good thing.
ZIPLOCK BAGS! Put your wallet, cell, stash, lighter, smokes, map, setlist, etc. in them just in case. Even if it doesn't rain, it's sweaty.
I'm nervous about Roo myself. I've been camping once...and I'm going with my 17 year old sister who has never been camping. People scare me....Bugs scare me....I've got too much Irish blood in me to stand any heat about 70 degrees. But...I just went for it....bought a ticket...and figured I'd survive it with a sunburn...some muddy clothes...and probably some bug bites...and most likely a trip to the medical tents. But hey.....I'll have some good stories to tell my kids... AND I'll bare witness to several seriously great shows. Anyone have a good medical tent story?
I don't plan on overpacking. I already decided to not bring food and just buy food from the vendors, that said, do you think 300 dollars is enough, even with "festivities"?
I had $300 and I made it through the 4 days the last time I went. The key to buying food there is to eat outside Inforoo because it is cheaper. I mean there will be non vendor people seeling a hamberger for 2 bucks if you look for it, but even the outside vendors are cheaper.

even if you don't plan to pack a lot of food i recommend bringing a loaf of bread and a jar of peanut butter. because sometimes you just need something to eat right away. and that hippy chick with the veggie burritos might not be at her tent at that moment also apples are good
*i like coconuts, you can break them open they smell like ladies lyin in the sun** *Hell I don't even know where I am** *for now I must sit here and ponder the yonder: The herbivores did well cause their food didn't never run** *We listen, if it feels good We shake** *You made a big impression for a girl of your size, Now I can't get by without you and your big brown eyes.**
No matter what you can always find a good old "one dallar grilled cheese", almost anytime I had these guys camping behind me and they had a little restaraunt goin on. They had chicken, BBQ, ribs everything, good prices too, and there was somebody there 24 hours a day, so that was cool.

mrthwaite -- They will let you camp together, but you may not be able to park side-by-side. Last year, my buddy & I both drove, and they're totally cool about letting you share a campsite, but he ended up parked in front of my car and to the left a little. We still got a common campsite, and we got 2x the room b/c of 2 cars, but don't expect to be able to part side-by-side. AND don't expect that, if you part side-by-side, there will be enough room b/t your cars to chill in. Bring a self-standing shade-tent-set-up.
And definitely bring SOME food. And way more water than you can imagine drinking. You will save BOOKOO $$$ if you bring enough sealed bottles to get you thru the weekend.
