my youtube algo has gotten super boring and i'm looking to spice it up. drop any recommendations for channels you find interesting here. it can be a channel about anything you want, but mostly i'm thinking of creators doing unique content that took effort, not just "guy with facial hair in dark room with HUE led lights reacts to new video game trailer".
like this weekend i was scrolling through my recommended videos, and amidst the sea of vegas hotel room tours and dudes rating fast food burgers, this gem popped up:
some cool food history, and he makes a dish that you would've had in a medieval tavern. i was entertained and informed and the guy here isn't annoying he is chill. i also watched another video of his that was a history of waffles it was neat.
doesn't have to necessarily be something carefully edited and professionally put together like this, just basically any creator doing something cool or interesting or funny that isn't regular youtube bullshit, like "guy with no facial hair and some sort of accent in dark room with HUE led lights reacts to new video game trailer".
would be nice if you provided a brief description of the channel and not just post a video. but do whatever you want this is inforoo there are no rules.
my most recent youtube discovery/obsession is downielive. he got me hooked with the below video series of him driving narrow boats in the UK. then i got into a bunch of his other stuff like train series and whatnot. travel series but with more interesting themes/takes imo.
Im not sure if he has a tiktok but my favorite insta page is Old.time.hawkey. Canadian guy that lives the van/cabin life in the wilderness with two beautiful dogs and cooks comfort foods with nostalgic movies and video games going on in the background. Everytime he hands food over to the camera (audience POV) he says very softly "There ya go, buddy" and it just really hits.
gifgas is my favorite of urbex/train . his channel is getting hit by youtube hard tho. subscribed on patreon so dm if anyone wants access to stuff thats been taken down

Reed Timmer is one of the best. Obviously Ryan Hall is the biggest and usually has multiple feeds going.

Reed is the man (he’s outside of STL right now). Yeah I always watch that shit too when there are tornado outbreaks or hurricanes. Sometimes they’re on signal or whatever but I generally stick with YouTube. There are a bunch of really good chasers - Brandon Copic, Storm Chasing Videos, Texas Storm Chasers, Live Storm Chasers, Jeff Piatrowski and a bunch more I forgot.
