The idea is to vote for the LEAST EGREGIOUS win, so by the last round we'll have the worst best picture decision the Academy ever made.
You aren't saying the Best Picture winner is a bad movie, necessarily, just that the other nominees were more deserving of the win.
You are voting based on the win over ALL other nominees. I only included certain losing nominees as an example of the egregiousness, and so you didn't have to go to wikipedia to remember what the winner beat out. For example, if you vote for The Artist, you are saying it is terrible that The Artist won over all other nominees, not just over Moneyball.
The years are based on the wikipedia list, which i think is roughly the year of the film's release. So if you google "1994 oscar best picture", you might get what I have as 1993 above. I'd prefer wikipedia use the year of the ceremony, but i just used what they had to make referencing easier.
I want to give a special shout out to an option I did not include: 2007. No Country For Old Men beat out Michael Clayton and There Will Be Blood. All three of those are awesome and a good argument could be made for any of of those winning, so I didn't include it as an option. What a great year for movies!

Going The Artist here. 2011 was a pretty dead year. Drive should have been nominated and won. Of the films nominated I would have gone with Tree of Life over any of the others, but The Artist is fine, as is Moneyball.

i saw The Artist in the theater and thoroughly enjoyed it, but haven't watched it or thought about it much since then. i only saw Moneyball for the first time like two years ago. it's an interesting story told well. agree regarding Drive, such a strange and wonderful movie.
pre-Drive my wife used to rant about Ryan Gosling, saying she didn't understand what women saw in him, she didn't get it, etc. we watched Drive and she was like "oh shit".

This Survivor is really challenging for me because for the last dozen years or so, I have been on a diet of strictly animated movies. Which of these films beat out Frozen 2? That was an outrage!!!

I just need to know who thinks Crash is better than Brokeback Mountain. That movie still messes me up. When he's in his closet and finds his shirt, I lose it every time.

I read Moneyball and found it really interesting. As I read it, I never thought, “They should really make a movie of this,” so I never saw the movie. I just assumed the movie was for people who enjoy baseball stats but don’t read books.

Literally never heard anyone mention that movie since it dropped. Same can be said for the Artist too, to be fair.
The Artist, The Descendants, Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close, The Help, Hugo, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Tree of Life, War Horse
Tbf, Moneyball might not get talked about at all outside of Baseball circles, but it still probably gets talked about more than any of the other BP noms that year.
Moneyball does something which is nearly impossible which is dumbing things down enough for an audience that doesn't necessarily know or care about baseball but not so much that people who love baseball find it cringe or tedious.
And yeah, it's pretty consistently referenced as one of the best sports movies, particularly of the last twenty or thirty years.

it is getting harder, like the artist and it was a unique theater experience, but I'm sure if you just watched it at home its less of a thing. moneyball is good.

Zero Dark Thirty is a rad movie that nobody talks about. I think people just don't like watching 9/11 shit, which I get.
