Somehow I never watched the first one when it came out. I heard that dumb “it’s Pocahontas with blue people” take and thought it wouldn’t be good. They were showing it in theaters again a couple of months ago, I’m guessing in preparation for Way of Water, so I finally went and watched it and loved it. Got absolutely transported to Pandora and didn’t want it to end. Couldn’t believe that it came out so long ago yet looked better than anything I had ever seen.
Went to see Way of Water opening weekend and it was also wonderful. Need to see it again in theaters in 3D because watching this on TV will not do it justice. I do hope they go back to the forest setting some more in the upcoming movies, I liked it a little more than the water setting.
Watched it yesterday. Wonderful. Tons of eye candy and you end up getting immersed in it so much you forget anyone is even cgi. So the next one has fire people?

This film is performing exactly like the first. Great at the box office because of zero competition yet no one is talking about it. Even this thread has died out.

And honestly I feel like I heard way less about Wakanda Forever than Avatar 2.
Just watched it with the wife in 3d last weekend. Not a blockbuster by any means but beautiful as expected. Some of the storylines seemed to get rehashed a bit. ie Jaguar looking thing in the jungle is now a jaguar looking thing in the ocean etc Also the the whales look awfully similar to the elephant/rhino things in the original. I did miss the ending, I thought the kid would be a killer and not a savior.
I think it's good that the animals share features. They're constructing an artificial global ecosystem from the ground up, with some clear parallels to ours. In the real world, evolution and common ancestry between all life forms dictates that different animal species share characteristics. It's just good science fiction.
