On first listen this is one of the best things Phil has ever made. I also think it's easier to enjoy than ACLAM even though it's still about a sad subject matter.
So what are we thinking about David Byrne's record?
I listened to it on shitty headphones last week and wasn't into it much, but I just finished listening to it driving home a few hours ago and loved every track except the first one. Byrne just has such a way with melodies and vocal phrasing that's been consistently wonderful for 4 decades now.
First time's David Byrne felt really underwelming. But put it on another time today and just did tonight and can say it's a grower (for me atleast). Young Fathers caught me by surprise aswell today, really like that record!
I try and I try with the new David Byrne. At the core I think there are some great songs. But that thing is so overly polished it sounds like the soundtrack to a musical. I Dance Like This and Everybody’s Coming to My House were the only ones I thought were good
Superorganism has been my favorite thing of the month so far. It’s a pretty great album (though I get the feeling that I could grow tired of it with quickness). Really fun for now though.
Edit: George Fitzgerald changes things

I think I like Now Only more than anything that came out last year.
garageland and I got to hear some of this album live before it was released, back in Sept. (Hopscotch) and goddamn it was good then and goddamn it is good now. Mount Eerie hits me in the feels in a very visceral way.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
