If you are reading this and it is before February 1st or so, you should go vote in the 2015 Album of the Year thread.
If you want to know what we thought of last year in-depth, you can find last year's Album of the Month thread HERE.
Does someone have an mp3 copy of Savages' "Silence Yourself" so I can see what ya'll have been talking about? My site has been down for awhile. Just PM.
Also it's great to be back in business after December. Let the games begin.

Do we want this thread to be the de facto new music discussion thread this year, or should we start another one? I'd like to discuss the dope new songs Operators played on NYE.

It's on spotify if that helps.
I don't have a smartphone and I do a lot of listening to and from work (which is about a 45 minute walk), so I like to have an actual copy of things so that I can play them via my ipod. George did me a solid and sent it to me, though.
Now! Let's keep it in the family, Horn. Talk to us. Tell us more about this dope song.

This is why I originally tried to keep DISCUSSION out of this thread, because I didn't want to take it away from already established threads like this one...
Me too. Tortoise's new one and Ty Segall's Emotional Mugger are the two records that I'm really looking forward to this month.
Be excited for that Tortoise, especially. I haven't heard Emotional Mugger yet but The Catastrophist is fanfuckingtastic.
A few others I'm excited for: Bloodiest - Bloodiest Lycus - Chasms Jesu / Sun Kil Moon - Jesu/Sun Kil Moon (though I think this is just an ep) Half Japanese - Perfect Pop. 1280 - Paradise Savages - Adore Life Suede - Night Thoughts Cian Nugent - Night Fiction Wet - Don't You
It's a solid month, imo. Count the This Heat discography reissues in and it turns into an incredible month real fast.

I think we should keep this to AotM voting/discussion, and move general new music discussion to another thread. Just my .02, but keeps this less cluttered for vote cpi tong, etc and doesn't get bloated with YouTube/SoundCloud posts.
It usually happens that way though. Part of the reason that I didn't want the headache again last year.
I like the discussion. I think it makes more sense to have a voting frame of a week before the deadline. During that week it's all votes and no talk. Anything voted for earlier wouldn't be counted. Maybe that's just me though. I also refuse to vote for ep's.

That new tortoise is super tho.
I don't know if people want to use this thread, but I made one to give it a shot. May have gotten lost in the Coachella lineup shuffle.

I think this a great idea. I don't care/mind if people discuss things during voting necessarily, but I think it would be smart to have a period of time where the proverbial polls are open, and that is the only time frame where votes will be counted.
I'd maybe even close it to just the final Monday-Friday. Then at least all of the eligible albums have been out for a few days (aside from any weird non-standard release day stuff).
I'd like to second that we keep this thread isolated to AotM discussion and voting up until that week, when it's just voting. The Friday to Friday that LD proposed sounds good to me. On the other side of that, we can use the thread that Horn made.
Really enjoyed Blackstar, but I am also very excited for Savages and Chairlift's new albums. I have really enjoyed every track I have heard so far from both bands.
