Little bags of chocolate chip cookies, plantain chips, tortilla chips, protein bars, bunch of bagels, these thin little cranberry cookies, bunch of golden crisp apples, bunch of oranges, 4 packages of reese's peanut butter cups and a loaf of homemade pound cake my sister brought over today.
This stash would easily get you invited to Groop Camping with whomever you desire.
Wind woke me up at 5:30am. Lost power at some point during the night but luckily still got some sleep. Looks like it leveled up to cat 2 and made landfall in gulf shores during the night. Sitting here watching the wind, scary.
We got power lines down right outside our condo complex so I ain't going anywhere.
Couldn't make coffee but I just found some old caffeinated protein powder and drank that. Managed to get my dogs out onto the lawn during a hurricane, got the big one who didn't poo all yesterday to poo. So all things considered feeling pretty blessed right now.

My dogs hate going out especially if it's a little wet. Glad you got him to go without an accident inside

Seattle here, apparently the West Coast has the worst air quality in the world so that's been fun. I've been stuck inside my apartment only going outside once for a grocery trip. Feel bad for my brother who works for the county doing environmental stuff, he's outside all day in the crap. Just ordered a ventilator mask, feels like smoky summers will be the norm in the coming years.

sally took down huge oak trees all over Mobile. These two are from right outside our condo. took down power lines, i think it will be a while before we have power.
as a result i'm back working in the office for the first time since March. and we had serious damage here as well. significant roof damage and leaking on the north side of the building, luckily my office is on the south side of the building so i have a space to work.
cops were there at 8am yesterday with a chainsaw to cut one of the trees loose so we could at least leave, otherwise we would've been totally blocked in. they tried to cut the bigger one, you can see the chainsaw marks, but were unsuccessful, so that side is still blocked.
Aw shit. You live right by The Brick Pit. I have one of the ceiling tiles there that says Hurricane Katrina 1, esteban's house - 0 right by the hall to the bathroom. I love that place, but I haven't been up Old Shell Road in a long time. I remember that neighborhood after Katrina when I was working at a building on the I-65/N. Beltline Highway. The entire neighborhood from where you are down toward Spring Hill had stacks and stacks and stacks of downed tree limbs. Kinda nice little section of Mobile there for d.i.n.k.'s.

yup, good eye, we are at place le vert, right across from Ravine Woods, right down the road from the Brick Pit. lots of trees on old shell so lots of opportunities for damage during a storm. we looooove our oak trees in mobile but hate them after hurricanes.
We're already at the Greek alphabet for hurricane season, as something called Subtropical Storm Alpha is just off the coast of Portugal.
I know its busier than usual this year, but maybe they need to tinker with the naming system.
Beta will form tonight or tomorrow in the Gulf. So we are there. I finally got in touch with someone in Pensacola who was able to give me an update on our condos. Roof damage but no water damage. Still no power so I’m going to have to drive down there tomorrow to clean out the refrigerator. :yuck:
Starting tomorrow we get a sunny week with 70’s days/60’s nights. Maybe it will even be cool in Texas in 2 weekends for ACL.
It's been so nice hadn't even thought of ACL
It’s been on my mind along with Voodoo since it’s almost October which (along with March, April and May) is a prime live music month for me. My boy over in Austin just moved close to the river in New Braunfels, and I was thinking about going see him next month but we opted for a family trip up to W NC to see the fall and dick around outdoors. That’s 2 weeks from yesterday so I do have that to look forward to.
Yeah. Fucking Delta is going to be more of a menace than I thought. Two of the hurricane models (HMON and HWRF) take it to the 930’s. They do slightly weaken upon approach, but a slightly weakening 3 will kick your ass. I was hoping for a Cat 1 to blow by Friday and deal with that but leave early morning Sunday for North Carolina. That might not be happening depending on landfall point. Doesn’t look good for New Orleans at the moment, but with 4 days to go, maybe it will come in a little west (or east) of current projections. This is a tough one, and we just finished off our frozen cases of water from Beta’s threat. Bah.
So we got a Cat 4 heading towards Cancun/Cozumel, and eventually Louisiana. Which makes me wonder - what do they do when they "need to" start retiring Greek alphabet names from the list?
I mentioned this before, but they def need to tinker with the naming system. Either increase the criteria for a storm to get a name, or create a separate list of names for in case of going past the original allotments.

That’s been a recent topic on Storm2k since here we are. One guy suggested Delta 2020 which covers this storm and since you can’t retire a letter from the Greek Alphabet. I don’t know what the solution is.
Apparently Delta made landfall about 12 miles east of where Laura did.
Lots of wind damage there and also much farther east and west damage than Laura. We got a gust or two into the 40’s. Only real action I saw was that my garbage can blew over in one gust and then a cheap plastic outdoor table blew into my drink and knocked it over.
